CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!
Was that the proposal he "resubmitted"? LMAO, I gotta say that is ridiculous...

Just curious but I figure there was a trade I submitted a couple of days ago I am guessing before DVO's, any update on that?
Yeah, sorry. It got lost in the shuffle. So many trades up for review lately. I forwarded it to the other committee members today though. So, you should hear something relatively soon.
hey N8 sent u the actual revised trade to ur N8 account
On that same topic, can everybody try to send their trade proposals to this account? I try to use this one for official league business...and I know sometimes I get lazy, but it just makes it easier for me to forward them on to the committee members, and would create less of a risk of proposals getting missed.

I probably get like 10 PMs a day to my n8rockerasu account between regular gaming, league questions, and just general CAG stuff. Just a request so we can all keep things running as smoothly as possible. Thanks!
How many trades has DVO made thus far? It seems like an insane amount.
2 small trades 1 big one

He always does a lot of trades...
I'm cool with this trade because ill just sign him out of free agency next season.
This is why we have a committee, lol. We have to at least try to stay objective.
How many trades has DVO made thus far? It seems like an insane amount.
It is a lot...but again, we don't have a trade limit. In general, I don't think it's a bad thing. The only adjustment I'd consider making is maybe having a policy about "re-trading" players. It seems silly to ship out a player that you just worked a deal to get, and starts to come off as though you're playing with trading cards. This would be the 2nd trade that DVO has done that in.

Personally, I'm not a fan of it...and I've told him that the constant trading is wearing on people's nerves a bit. Things like this only become necessary when people are testing the limits of good reason, but I wouldn't be opposed to a policy of not being allowed to trade a player that you've just acquired (whether it be through trade or free agency) that same season.

I realize that SOMETIMES a team will dosey-doe with a player they've just acquired and flip him immediately...but it's the frequency with which this is happening that is concerning me (ie. 2 trades in not even 6 weeks of season time). I guess we need people to weigh in on this one.

i only traded spiller becuz i found out foster was on the market couldnt pass that up. it was a one time deal.
wouldnt move hill either but im nto losing green for welker that would be pointless and he liked hill so thats the reason for that. but this is my last trade of this season for sure and it might not even go through
Carolina Panthers receive:

TRADE REJECTED

This trade was rejected on multiple fronts. For one, it was pretty unanimous that San Francisco was not getting enough back in this deal. Newton is good...but Gore is still in his prime and Smith isn't a bottom feeder. 2-4th round draft pick from Carolina was suggested as compensation.

Secondly, the question was raised as to why the Panthers would even be interested in Gore with an already crowded backfield of Williams and Stewart (not to mention, Mike Tolbert). A couple committee members wanted to hear an explanation from Carolina before even considering this trade.

i agree with people not trading players they just traded for its kinda silly!!!
I suggest a minimum amount of weeks you would be required to have that player on your roster, maybe something like 3 weeks.
Eh...for me, 3 weeks isn't long enough. The thing I would want to accomplish by having this policy is similar to the reason for having the trade cap last year. I want people to have to actually think about their trades and their plans for the players they're going after...and not just saying "Ooh! This guy is fast! I want him. Oh, wait! No, that guy is better! I want that guy!" I honestly hate even having to put restrictions on it at all, but like I said, the limits of reason are being tested a bit here, and people are getting irritated.

I messaged him, and hopefully will have a resubmitted trade within a couple of hours as there is something else planned pending this trade.

EDIT: Trade has been resubmitted.

I know I'm sorry about this. I haven't been able to go online yet because my days off haven't come.

I'll do it tonight.

By the way, if the Ravens are still open and I play them this week in the season, how do I go about it? Am I playing the CPU or waiting for you guys to find a replacement. Or is the guy on the first page still the owner?

Ugh...I'm seriously considering taking a break from all EA Sports games after this year. Neither Swift900 nor myself were playing like complete douchebags, so apparently, the EA servers couldn't tolerate it. With less than 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, after I had just pulled back ahead 24-17, the game fucking desyncs. I really, really hate do-over games. I feel like my entire gameplan has been revealed now. I had over 200 yards rushing and 3 TDs with CJ in this game too.

I'm just so sick of EA's bullshit. "Online Pass...gotta buy our game new if you want to enjoy our exclusive online features". Yeah...like a million micro-transactions, laggy servers, random disconnects, a myriad of bugs and glitches, and ranked douchebaggery to the highest degree. The alternative is just not playing sports games...and it's sad that that's starting to look like a more enticing option. *sigh*

I have to agree with the online pass crap. If you are going to force people to buy the game new or pay $10 then you need to have your shit running well. Period.

Yeah, what's crazy to me is that at some point in time, society reached a place where the biggest companies are allowed to be the least professional. If any small business owner or mom and pop store pulled the shit that EA routinely does, they would get obliterated by local news and have lawsuits left and right. "Oh, I'm sorry we sold you that product that doesn't work like we said it would. We'll come out with a better one next year. You should buy that one."
Sorry I missed the trade voting, n8, though it sounds like it wouldn't have mattered either way. My internet has been down all evening.
Sounds good to me. I'll send you an invite as soon as I can. It looks like your first opponent will be another new member, ballinhun8. So, if you want to go ahead and get in touch with him to schedule your game, that would be great. Welcome aboard!

I have accepted and pm'd the Dallas GM earlier today

Who was the owner of my old team??? Dude let ray rice go without a contract extension! :whistle2:(

He is injured dude... Unless the AI let him go.

Edit: oh wait, Lewis, I was thinking Rice.

Yeah. The AI must have did something on this rollover. I it set to automatically negotiate his contract in week 4 I think...guess the game let him go?

Chargers win 20-16 over Denver. It was a really tight game all the way. I'm down 16-13 in the fourth when just horrible lag takes over.. this wasn't your regular lag..the game was practically pausing itself every 5 seconds. I thought for sure it was going to desync us. It messed up my drive(not saying I was going to definitely score or anything but it didn't help it) and I had to punt. He had the same problems on his drive as well and had to punt it back. It finally cleared up a bit and I was able to drive down and score at the end of the game...honestly the lag won me the game more then anything..it could've easily have lost it for me though as well...its hard to consider this a victory.

Just so you're aware, we don't post trade proposals in the thread. When you have something ready, just PM it to this account and I'll forward it to the rest of our committee.

The first game under new head coach Mandy Voluptuous was a disaster for the Vikings, who played well except for a horrific 2nd quarter.

The game started off well for Minnesota, as they jumped out to an early 10-7 lead. Unfortunately for them, Christian Ponder decided that was a perfect moment to play about as effectively as he would with his helmet on backwards. The deficit at halftime was 35-10 after three picks and a fumble (all in that one quarter), two of which were returned for defensive touchdowns. Midway through the 4th quarter, the Vikings fought back to cut it to 24-42, and sent the kick booming downfield with the intent of stopping the offense right away. Unfortunately, they forgot that tackling the kick returner is a thing, and gave up a touchdown on the return.

FINAL:
VIKINGS - 24
REDSKINS - 56

R. Griffin III, QB - 8-11, 249 yds, 3 TD
R. Helu Jr., HB - 15 att, 82 yds, 1 rec, 37 yds, 2 total TD
F. Davis, TE - 3 rec, 96 yds, TD

C. Ponder, QB - 13-24, 312 yds, 3 TD, 4 TOs
A. Peterson, HB - 15 att, 86 yds, 4 rec, 81 yds

----------------

Good game JoelyPoley! The final score might raise some eyebrows, but it was really my own ineptitude; no nefariousness involved. I was definitely rusty, and I'm looking forward to next weeks game as I try to not suck on defense!

Joely did you run with RG3 at all? I see that youre getting hounded in the official league for using tebow how he's supposed to be used.
Joely did you run with RG3 at all? I see that youre getting hounded in the official league for using tebow how he's supposed to be used.
I ran with RG3 twice. One was a designed run play fora TD from like 5 yards out. The other was avoiding a sack.

Titans - 24
Steelers - 7

Whew...have I mentioned I hate do-over games? lol. Man, I thought I was in for it in this one when Swift900 marched right down the field on his opening drive and scored a TD. I started to realize though that instead of playing MY game, I was trying to outthink what he "expected" me to do. So, I was giving him easy yards on defensive plays that I don't ever run.

On offense, my expectations were about right. He was all over Chris Johnson, and James Harrison seemed to have a personal vendetta against him, constantly getting into the backfield. Luckily, I got a long pass play to Nate Washington to set up the game tying TD. We stayed locked at 7 until midway through the 3rd quarter, when facing a 3rd and long, Jake Locker hit Kendall Wright with a 73 yard TD strike. The Titans added a late field goal to take a 17-7 lead into the 4th quarter.

Knowing Pittsburgh would have to throw the ball, Tennessee was able to bring in 6 DB's and just avoid the big play. There were a few throws that I thought my guys should have intercepted, but at least their coverage was decent for the most part. The Titans got the ball back again, and Chris Johnson finally started putting together some big runs, culminating in an 8 yard TD run with just over 2 minutes left, preserving the 24-7 victory.

After that opening drive, the Titans defense really clamped down, only giving up 77 yards of total offense for the game. GG, Swift900! Those do-over games are always awkward because both people are just unsure what will work anymore. Glad we got through it though.

Titans
Jake Locker - 3-5, 142 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Chris Johnson - 24 att, 160 yds, 2 TDs
Kendall Wright - 1 rec, 73 yds, 1 TD
Nate Washington - 1 rec, 61 yds
Pat Sims - 2 tackles, 1 sack
Jason McCourty - 2 tackles, 2 TFL

Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger - 5-14, 83 yds, 1 TD
Rashard Mendenhall - 7 att, 6 yds
Mike Wallace - 2 rec, 40 yds
Heath Miller - 1 rec, 22 yds, 1 TD
Ryan Clark - 8 tackles
James Harrison - 3 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 Sack
Ike Taylor - 2 tackles, 2 TFL

And it was only 12 designed runs. 22 passing attempts and 12 runs for Tebow. No runs on designed passing plays, and no hurry ups.

Tebow was 9/22 for like 118 yards and 12 runs for 72 yards. I don't get it man. I told you it would happen though haha.

Yeah you did, but i was a little shocked, when we played, i played a couple of my defenders in qb spy anticipating the run with rg3 and it never came.

Jets squeaked out a 17-14 victory over the Colts. Good game snake
Dude, I didn't even know you had Roy Williams.. haha i was wondering who that WR was that was destroying my secondary. My defense saved my ass once again. Couldn't get much offense going, other than an 80-yd bomb to Holmes. Had to run clock for basically the whole 4th quarter. That worries me, considering my next game is against the Pats... Their Points For to Points Against is ridiculous... 151 to 26 points in 6 games!

To me, the biggest problem with QB scrambling (and other plays) is that a lot of people are so damn secretive about how to stop it. I think if people were more forthcoming with the teaching part of playing Madden, there wouldn't be nearly as many problems.

As it stands, there are a good number of people in that league who have no chance of winning anything, and are basically punching bags for the top tier talent. Now, if they're actually able to have fun while getting slapped around week after week, more power to them. But that's the number one thing I try to prevent here.

In my opinion, if you're not creative enough with your playcalling to give people tips on how to stop your "money plays", then you don't deserve to be winning in the first place. Simply telling somebody "practice bro" is patronizing in a game with as many intricacies as Madden. People don't learn how to spread their d-line and audible individual players over night. I've always held the belief that the "better" players in any league should be grateful that the "lesser" ones are even willing to stick around, so doing whatever they can to help them should be their cross to bear. That's the only issue I would see with people getting mad about particular plays (other than obvious exploits).

If anyone has any tips on how to stop QB draws with running QBs, I'd love to hear 'em. :D

That's one thing I have not been able to figure out yet. I can stop scrambles pretty effectively, but the designed QB runs just kill me.

If you're in a zone you're fucked. There is a bug, on any draw play if an LB is in a zone he automatically plays the pass dropping back a giving the QB/RB ample running room. I know you user your MLB most of the time so you'll probably have better luck avoiding this, but I'd wager you see more success stopping it in man to man.

Fortunately, I haven't played too many scrambling QB's yet this year. I've got some coming though, lol. Regular spies aren't working? (DE's and MLB) And I'm glad to see you guys jumping on the "teaching" bandwagon this year. I'm going to take partial credit for that, haha ;)
Regular spies aren't working? (DE's and MLB)
I don't have a large enough sample to say for sure, but they didn't have much effect for me in the game I just played against MA with Cam Newton. Then again, he picked his spots for it well so I didn't always have a spy on when he ran it. Against someone who runs more with the QB, I probably would keep someone in permanent spy.
