CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!
Were all those fumbles by CJ? Did you not recover any of them?
No, two by Locker...that came on back to back plays with Houston rushing 3. Second one, as I said...was clearly a "Madden doesn't know arm moving forward isn't a fumble" though. The big one was on Nate Washington. After catching a pass to pick up a key 1st down, I just held RB and moved up waiting for him to be tackled. But he was kind of mobbed and held up, and then the LB just took the ball. It was a really weird animation...almost looked like an INT it was such a clean transfer of possession.

Either way N8 GG man! Best and closest game I had all year! More stress and fun then I've had in while! I would have Rage broken my controller on that last catch!

Yeah, gg. Like I said, you pretty much did everything right...and both offenses were very tactical, which made playing defense difficult. My close wins from the beginning of the season are all coming back to beat the shit out of me now. 2-5 in my last 7. I feel like I could easily be 3-11 at this point though. Really frustrating to feel like you've taken a step backward after investing so much time in the game.

everytime i fumble this is my exact thought

Dvo you've been really giffy lately.

lol im high on pills this shit keeps me laughing. spinal surgery and only being able to lay down and having a laptop and pills makes for a fun night
It was worse because I was covering the ball...but your super LB just took it from Washington. Also, the 2nd fumble (on back to back plays) caused by Watt, Locker's arm was clearly going forward...but yeah, EA has no clue that that's a rule. Just two different teams, man. You were getting pressure rushing 3. I rush 5 and get nothing. I don't how the fuck people get results with crappy teams in this game. It has to be that there are just "money" plays and adjustments...akin to nanos that people know to do to get the results they want.

There is no way in hell that people just straight up play the game and call plays, and make real life sensible moves, and win. It's just leveraging one video game-ism against another video game-ism (not saying that's what you did...your team is just clearly better than mine). In terms of skill, that was probably one of the most even games I've had...as we basically matched each other drive for drive.

But your guys made big plays when they needed to (both offensively and defensively)...and mine didn't. I just can't make sense of it, and trying to drives me nuts, man. I halfway want to leave my copy of Madden outside my apartment for a couple hours and hope somebody takes it. I need to go back to playing Dust now. At least that game makes sense.
It's not about outsmarting you opponent, it's about outsmarting Madden. Sad, but the truth behind it.

DVO's fumble GIF is how I feel everytime I throw an INT.

Bucs get creamed by the Packers 34-10, Freeman threw 5 INTs in this one and looked absolutely awful. I swear everytime I throw with him its either a drop by the WR's or the D is swarming them and get an easy INT, while my defense lollygags around the field giving WR's a ton of separation.

Nate, you wanna start an "EA fucks us over on a weekly basis" club?

You're late to the party. That club has been meeting on Fridays for the past 5 years (and I'm actually not joking about this...it's called the CAG Hockey Team, lol). I feel like we need to have a CAG Festivus in EA's (dis)honor. We'll start with the airing of grievances.

I think if we ever aired all of our grievances, it would be the following Friday again.

it would be really nice for EA to lose the rights to the nfl and for 2ksports to get it for a while or if the 2 companies worked together as one and made an amazing game.

Me too I have nfl 2k5 still and they have so many features on that game that maddens calls "new". For example they have refs on the field and aswell as a bunch of presentation they do way better on that game than this one and that game is from 05.

Sent a pm to colts owner either yesterday morning or Sunday (I deleted most of my sent pms so I don't know exact time I sent it), no response. He can play my CPU at this point, I can't play anymore. Or it can be simmed, either way.

Exclusive licenses basically ruined sports games, in my opinion. Year after year, both EA and 2K can turn out a product with the same problems and it won't even make a dent in their sales. I at least had the willpower to trade in NHL 13 (which got worse reviews than Madden...which should tell you something), so hopefully whoever bought that from GameStop took a sale away from EA.

Obviously, not supporting the product is the only real way to show them that you're unhappy with the direction the game has taken...but that's a really tough argument when you have no alternative. I feel like the best we could do is agree as a community to just continue this franchise and not move on to the next game. At least in that regard, people still get football...but don't dump more money into the EA "Who Gives a fuck If the Game Sucks" machine. But I also think most people (myself included) are just conditioned to buy it every year at this point. It's going to take some balls for anyone to actually snap out of that.

Wish you would have said something sooner. He really hasn't been very active in here. I think he's missed his last couple games, and I'm not sure when he last posted in the thread. I would have let you play the CPU. Guess it's not a big deal if the game doesn't matter, but for future reference, definitely speak up. You're not the only one who's had trouble reaching him.

if flyer cant play it should just be simmed i think its the only real fair thing to do he made the ffort no reason colts owner should get a win for not making the effort

looks like the only game game left with 2 human players is panthers and lions heres to hoping for an early advancement tomorrow
Benglas are 1 win from clinching a wildcard spot and possibly the division
If you beat me and we end up with the same record, I believe I win the division based on tiebreakers. According to NFL rules, it should come down to strength of victory tiebreaker, which I'm pretty sure I would win. Of course, this is assuming EA has correctly implemented tiebreakers. I don't know if you guys had any issues with that last season or not.

They'll just shut down the servers. I don't think the problem is EA necessarily. Games for this generation have been generally meh, sports games specifically. Hopefully the transition to the next gen of consoles is smoother so they can keep what they've built on.

Anyone remember Madden 06 on 360? I swear to god it was an N64 port.

N8 are we planning for season 3 to be the end or are we going to try for a 4th season. i know i would be in it to do 4 seasons. and knowing whether 3 or 4 is the plan has alot to do with wut i do with my coach xp player xp and other things as well of course.
How are the NCAA games? Maybe make a change to them?
They are worse than the Madden games in my opinion. I bought NCAA 13 (Last I had was NCAA 11). I could not believe how exactly the same it was, down to even the menus. It's sort of like a crappy Madden game in gameplay, although I do like running more QB runs and the option in it.

At this point I am ready for 2K to come back, but it seems unlikely. I miss browsing my crib, and receiving calls from celebrities. Everything worked in that game because the gameplay was so good. There were things in 2K5 that Madden still hasn't included.

nfl 2k5 is an arcade game disugised as a console game. You really wanna be hammering on that a button to run everytime? i loved it when my friends told me that nfl 2k5 was better than madden 05. you can always tell an nfl 2k fan by the lack of curve on his right thumb

I said presentaion and detail wise it's better than madden 05 to like 2010. Madden didn't get refs until like 2010 or 11. 2k5 also had way more visiual details like having the QB be on the phone. Madden didn't have any of that kinda stuff.

They used the term "celebrity" pretty loosely in that game.

You can't possibly be trying to insinuate that Steve-O isn't a celebrity...

We should just switch to Fifa. It is so much better than the Madden series. It almost seems like the EA developers that make Fifa actually watch soccer and are big fans, whereas the EA developers that make Madden just simply don't care about football or the realism.

Now if only Fifa had an online career mode... *cough* EA developers *cough*

I've got Fifa 13...and it's definitely a great game (I just suck at it and don't really know much about soccer). It blew my mind how complex it was, while still remaining fluid. They give you so many different control options and ways to play. The AI isn't spectacular...but it's still beyond what Madden and NHL have.

All of that said, though...you have to remember that Fifa has had PES to keep pushing them all these years. If Fifa was the only option soccer fans had, I'm sure EA would cut corners on development the same way they have with their other monopolies. Competition is the key to having worthwhile products...in any industry.

FIFA is a fun game, my brother has it. I would switch to it, but I don't have any time to learn a new game. The only madden games I've played in the last few weeks are league games, and even then it seems like a chore to get them in lately. I'm hitting that madden fatigue point with everything else that is going on in my lfie.

Not sure why you guys care so much about the presentation. Madden is fine at that, all I care about is gameplay. 2k5 was a damn arcade game, never got why everyone had such a hardon over that game.

As for NCAA13, I liked it better than Madden. It is nowhere near a clone, did you actually play it? If anything M13 stole from NCAA.

They are separate dev teams as well, though they are starting share code from what I've read.

I brought up the presentation because 2k5 was ahead of it's time. All these"new" features that madden brings to the table 2k5 already had, madden 2011 didn't even have.

Totally. The 400 yds rushing, 800 passing yards, 6 INTs game averages that people put up in Madden are a much better reflection of the sport. Simulation football for the win! :applause:

This this this. I picked up during a B2G1 years and years ago at Gamestop and I couldnt get into it either. The presentation wasnt great and the gameplay wasn't either. I felt their franchise mode left a lot to be desired. Esepecially compared to Madden 05 which (IMO) hit its pinnacle with the whole storyline central addition. Tony Bruno got stale but it was unique and fresh for a season and had a great impact on the game. I loved how you could control your team's finances with ticket prices (and pricing your own beer) and have never understood why Madden went away from that. If they ever made an online mode with a new storyline central and radio show feature (would have to be a different host now) I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I started playing Madden with Madden 06, so I never got into the 2k games. I played a little one time when a friend kept telling me how amazing 2k5 was and I truly didn't understand why he thought it was so great. I might be remembering wrong, but pretty sure 2k5 was released at $19.99, which seemed really cool. Seems like the only games that release at less than $59.99 now are old games being re-released and things like that. Would be nice if 2k or anyone else could get into making an NFL game so EA would work harder at making a better game.

I really enjoy NCAA 13, but it has some problems of it's own. It's definitely not a Madden clone. Transitioning from Madden to NCAA and vice versa is a problem for me because the games handle differently and it can throw me off. An online Dynasty would be really cool with a bunch of people playing. Recruiting would be intense. I had an online dynasty with a friend of mine, but he got bored and quit. An NCAA league honestly might be more enjoyable than a Madden league and that is coming from someone who isn't a big college football fan.

I completely forgot about that. They should definitely bring stuff like that back into the game. I doubt it would be that difficult to add. Another thing that Madden franchise mode had back then was restricted free agents. For some reason they don't recognize them anymore.
konfusion u going to be able to play tonight if we advance tonight?
I'm not sure. It's definitely possible. I know I will be able to play tomorrow.

Yeah, I liked that too. I've always liked the offseason aspect of football games so I welcome good additions to that. Its part of why I didnt buy Madden for a few years, they made franchise mode so barebones.

I just can't wait to see Denard Robinson on this years NCAA.

Go Blue!

I generally buy ever NCAA game though, this is the first time in 6 years I didnt. My fav part has always been recruiting
