okay, us californians are the shit.

everyone wants to be like us,

have our diverse racial culture,

they all wanna shop at Frys,

get laid in the OC / Laguna Beach with hot bitches, (I got a good story about this!)

go to E3,

and lurk in our got damn forum!!

the only thing we lackin in is we aint got the same fashion market as NY does

but I kno where to get my Bapes, Stussy, and Diesel so Im all good.

so... games aside, let's talk about where to eat!

coz of course, we are what we eat!

THE SHIT!

(we are the shit coz we eat the shit, get it?)

In-N-Out
In-n-Out is yet another place that makes non-cali fools jealous of us. on SRK.com ppl were all crying and being like "stop that!! why do u ppl brag about it so much! it can't be that good, shutup!" But... it IS that good. The only thing I dont like about it is that it overshadows my favorite SOCAL exclusive burger place:

Original Tommy's
YES! the greatest chili burger, but their chili cheese fries can often intoxiacte you (stay away unless you're gonna share!). Their chili dogs shit all over the ones at Pinks.

Pinks Hot Dogs (on Melrose & La Brea in Hollywood)
world famous! Even tho Tommy chili dogs are better, Pinks menu is huge. Tommys doesnt put bacon in their chili dogs either.

Roscoes Chicken & Waffles
no comment, u know it.

Alertos (off Brookhurst in westminster of fountain valley or something, east of the 405, there's prolly hella other places jus like it too)
burritos are my favorite. I really like this place by my pad called "Arriba Grill" but there's lot of places making food like that. What Alertos does is straight up cook their meat in lard!! Damn I want a carne asada burrito w/ cheese rite now (but I jus drank a whole slurpee).

Del Taco
another SoCal exclusive!! top tier fast food, I can live off their 99 cent burritos!

aaanyways, Bay Area, SoCal, anybody who throws the dub up in the air, post on!! (I wanna kno what to eat wherever I go)!!!
a double double animal style sounds pretty good right now

make that a DOUBLE double double ;)

Hey man, reppin' the 619 area. Just wanted to list of few places I like to go; not sure if they are exclusive to CA though.

1) La Torta (around SDSU)

2) House of 9 Dragons (Chula Vista)

3) IN-N-OUT (Mile of Cars area)

4) Pick up STix (Mission Valley)

5) Tacos El Gordo (TJ..i think)

6) Lolitas (Eastlake/Bonita area)

7) Colimas (Bonita)

8) Cheesecake Factory

9) Rubio's

10) Outback Steakhouse (Plaza Bonita)

11) Applebee's (Plaza Bonita)

12) Pat & Oscar's (Plaza Bonita) - best breadsticks

13) Wings N Things (National City) --> Good place to watch football

14) Hooters (best hot wings)

15) Soup Plantation (best all you can eat buffet)

Well that's all I can think of right now, but yeah there's so much more. Although I've always wondered what White Castle burgers tasted like. I heard you can order them online? Wtf? Are they like frozen then?

I used to frequent that Alberto's every week, and when I lived in san diego I ate burritos 2-4 times a week (typical college diet). However, now I almost exclusively eat burrito's at Al & Bea's in east LA. The burritos OWN all the other places I've tried, even those I lived off of for years. They are only $2-3 too. I'm trying to watch what I eat more now so I only frequent them twice a week at most, but damn I love their burritos (and taquitos).

Al and Bea's is the best place to get Bean 'n Cheese Burritos! I was there yesterday!. Been going there for years.

cali does have the best food best mexican food best chinese food even the donut shops are in a league of there own.

I love Pat & Ocars bread. That's grub.

Shakas (Hawaiian Food) - Montery Park, Exit Garfield on the 60 and go north, on the right side. This is MUCH better than L & L.

Versailles (Cuban) - On Venice Blvd. in Culver City

yo Ma12kez,

Rubios hella sucks dawg, plus I dont think it's west coast exclusive.

exclusiveness aside, Chipotle is the shit.

and yeah, SD has some damn good mexican food,

Carne Asada fries?!?! yup.

Psykodelik>> I wanna go to Shakas now!

there was this place I went to in Cerritos once called "The Loft", it pretty much destroyed L&L as well (L&L isnt that great)

and u cannot forget Pho!! Pho 59 (or something) on Brookhurst, cheap and delicious

No, it's not. I've been to one in Missouri.

http://www.deltaco.com/dtlocator/

:p

I'm not a big Del Taco fan, but In and Out Burger is great, but overpriced like a lot of places around here are.

Perris Burger in Moreno Valley is pretty damn good as well.

guadalajara up in davis is better than alertos. they got this 3 foot long super burrito and better horchata.

Hehe Jekki. I remember when L&L first came out, I thought it was good. Then I tried Shaka's and that pretty much won between the two. There's another Hawaiian restaurtant I forgot to mention but kind of pricey. Ohana-Hou in West Covina. When I'm in Cerritos, I try to remember "The Loft". Know where in Cerritos?
The Hat - Has good pastrami sandwiches and gravy fries.

Here's two of my local favorites:

-George Burger, San Marcos (I like them better than In N Out, and that is saying A LOT)

-Los Primos, Rancho Bernardo (Excellent Mexican food. I recommend the California Burrito, Carne Asada Fries, and Grande Tostada)

Super Mex ... a few locations in Long Beach.

Harris Ranch Steakhouse ... off the 5 in Coalinga (about halfway from SF and LA). Their stockyard is nearby, so you are getting fresh beef. When you stop to eat and gas up between NorCal and SoCal you have two (good) choices: In-N-Out and Harris Ranch.

Islands ... there are now locations in AZ and NV, but those burgers rule. Nobody does burgers like Cali. It is because we can BBQ year-round in our perfect weather, bitches.

Anywhere else with a menu ... because even if the food isn't great, our chicks are hot.

OC

Fatburger is probably the only other chain I'd put next to In-N-Out. Sucks they are ONLY in So. Cal and Vegas, but then again, that probably saves me a couple pounds ;)

Let's get some Bay Area recommendations!

Fat Slice (SF and Berkley) - Best pizza I have ever eaten. Slices are big and thick. Crust is crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. Large selection of optional toppings too. Its on height st in SF, i dont know about the berkley one though

Fatburger has chains in the east coast also. I forgot where exactly though

No offense but if you think In and Out is overpriced, you must think McDonald's/Jack in the Box are gourmet. Their menu is cheap as hell, they just don't have any $.99 value items.

We have Del Taco in MI, at least I've been to one here. It sucks compared to taco bell. California is over-rated, the only good part is that ahnold is governor. Enjoy your earthquakes.

yea, like a burger is like 1.89, that will get you a mcdonalds double cheeseburger

and what is there in MI?

now I wanna go to Pizza My Heart....

the previously mentioned Fatburger and Islands are both places I do not like to much... my dumb ass former roommate loved fatburger, but refused to eat In N Out coz they put bible verses on their wrappers. He called the place "Jesus Burger" but yeah, he was real dumb.

Pskodelik>> I searched over the summer on the internet but actually couldnt find info on the Loft in Cerritos (I actually went there only once like over 3 years ago) but I did find results for one in Huntington Beach.

moving on>>

Shin Sen Gumi (Fountain Valley on Brookhurst WEST of the 405, in a plaza w/ Rite Aid and I think a TJ Max)
a more "authentic" ramen place, u can sit and eat at the bar and the soups are hella customizable. The only bad part, u gotta wait hella long as it's a very popular place, not to mention the more you add to your ramen the more it costs. so instead u can go to:

Mitsuwa (in Costa Mesa, behind the 7-11 on Bristol and Paularino)
The Costa Mesa mitsuwa has a great food court! my homegirl tells me the ramen here is a lot better and cheaper (tho I would think less customizable). I have yet to try it, but I work 2 blocks away at the Urban Outfitters! I will try it next time I have a long shift during my long break.

I cant believe there a Del Taco in MI, dang... Mission Impossible MI

"the loft" that was in gardena/torrance area closed. (Owners split the company, i think). They are now known as "back home at lahaina" which is pretty reasonable for hawaiian/local food price vs taste. I know I eat there alot. Gotta get the bacon fried rice, grindz. There is also bruddahs and kings hawaiian bakery.

Jekki, hehe no biggie. Thanks for looking though.

Nakanenui, I'll ttry to remember those places when I'm in the neighborhood. Now I want Hawaiian food. Bleh.

Koraku - Japanese food in J-town, on 2nd & San Pedro. Open til 4am. Good grub after clubs.
Bay Area exclusive

PIZZA MY HEART, Pesto Pizza yum
http://www.pizzamyheart.com/

Palo Alto, Santa Cruz, San Jose etc...
I've been to the one in Santa Cruz a bunch of times. Actually, everytime I go to SC. It's the bomb. I don't even like pizza and it's really good.

Psycodelik,

The Loft in Cerritos is on Pioneer and 186th I think. If you head towards the Hawaiian Gardens Casino, you'll see it. It's down the street from my house but I've never been there. No idea what to order.
San Diego has the best Mexican food. :)
you ever been to mexico viejo? that place had some good cheapass food, i think it was in encinitas, tho i think it did give me some nasty mexican food type shits.

also, navel oranges are 25 cents per pound at socal ralphs, that is pretty damn cheap.

i cant eat in n out anymore i am burned out on it.

souplantation!! by far one of the best all you can eats

and Todai/ Onami are excellent sushi-seafood buffets although a lil expensive

in the bay area there is sweet tomatoes and fresh choice, both pretty good soup-salad buffets

gigan54>>

the mitsuwa in Little Tokyo has one eat in place,

(not a grand food court like in Costa Mesa, and I never been to the one in Torrance)

but their beef / chicken bowl are HELLA good.

like, the place looks so plain, as does the food,

but when u taste it... it's DELICIOUS.

souplantation is pretty good, all u eat is bread so it's one of the only places where I can get full and stay full

EDIT: u kno wwhat sux? like I jus ate but Im still hungry. coz i actually cooked my stuff to save money, but sometimes u jus dont have enough to eat...

maybe Ill wait an hour or so and grab alertos!
yea, like a burger is like 1.89, that will get you a mcdonalds double cheeseburger
Dude, it's all about quality, not quantity! And I guarantee you an In N Out burger has more actual beef in it than two of the water-injected McDonald's patties.

"Del Taco

not quite there homie considering there is one open in dearborn heights on ford/telegraph in michigan, that's quite a far fuckin throw from socal

edit: and speaking of california eating spots, where is the damn Big Kahuna Burger? I want a tasty burger and a sprite to wash it down!
Dude, it's all about quality, not quantity! And I guarantee you an In N Out burger has more actual beef in it than two of the water-injected McDonald's patties.
im well aware of that, in n out is way better, i dont think you understood, that i think a double cheeseburger at mcdonalds is the equivilent of their own cheeseburgers, just the patty is pushed more into the bun. basically what im saying, is mcdonalds double cheeseburgers are crap and like half the size of an in n out burger
for Japanese food you can't beat Sushi House in Alameda.
Where is this place and how are the prices?

mmmm... animal style fries. drool

actually Del Taco opened up north also. I'd say right now you can't forget Philly's Best sandwiches in Irvine. Best cheesesteaks! No need to go to philly to try one. And yes alertos carne asada nachos..... drool.
okay, us californians are the shit.

No, assclowns want to be like U..

have our diverse racial culture,
Nobody wants a diverse racial culture, isolationism is inbred in every group. You just had too much real-estate to patrol and suddenly everyone got a chunk!

they all wanna shop at Frys,
You've got me on that one....we suffer with the Best Buy and CompUSA :D

get laid in the OC / Laguna Beach with hot bitches, (I got a good story about this!)

Oh brother...fake-everything, and a chick who spends money like water and runs to her parents for more when she runs out is like 1 step away from dating a dependent :p Cali Girls are like Attack of the Clones. "You're blonde, and slutty...just like...every other girl in this club"

but I kno where to get my Bapes, Stussy, and Diesel so Im all good.

Fashions for chicks dude.....if you're into clothes, and you're a guy, you're a woman :) Get your Sassoon jeans on!

Seriously: We only have 1 mexican fast-food chain here....and only a handfull of authentic (non-chain) mexican restaurants...its why I'm so bitter :D

I live in SF and San Mateo (area code 415 and 650). The Taqueria called "GORDO" has the best (IMHO) burrito. The price is very reasonable and the chili sauce is amazingly good.
for Japanese food you can't beat Sushi House in Alameda.
I totally agree with that one. The portion is HUGE and the price is tiny weenie low.

For Indonesian/ Malaysian / SIngaporean / Thai food, there is a place called "Banana Island" in Daly City (san mateo county).

Some of my favorite Mexican food restaurants:
King Taco - The Carne Asada here is badass (several locations throughout LA)
El Tepeyac - Get the Manny's Special (burrito will feed 3-4 easily
Marquez Restaurant in Norwalk. Killer Handmade Tortillas - Every Sunday the family and I get some Carnitas, Tortillas and some Menudo. http://www.marquezrestaurant.com/
