California Food Thread

If your in San Francisco any time go to Balboa Teryaki. I believe it's 36th Ave. Balboa. Right near my Elementary School. Great food, excellent prices.

Hmmm....Years ago I met this girl named Jekki in Chicago at a nightclub and we would make out all over the place. Then I got her to take off her shirt and she had the biggest melons I have ever seen. I mean- I gasped when I saw them. They were huge!!!

Wait a second....what was this thread about??

There's a branch of the California Pizza Kitchen in the mall here in Austin, TX thats ~20-30 min away from my house that makes some damn good gourmet personal pizzas.
There are some pictures of some of their dishes at the site in a slideshow: http://www.cpk.com/
excellent stuff

The Jalapenos in Irvine sucks ass... Is Fullerton that much better?? My friend lives rite off that exit, in a Barn nonetheless[/QUOTE]

The one in Irvine is pretty bad. The one in Fullerton is awesome, I was suprised to find out that they are related. Its actually called Jalapeno Grill if you like spicy stuff ask for extry spicy salsa. They'll whip you up a fresh batch. That stuff makes my nose runny. Thats when you know its good

Yeah, I used to love eating that too... until I started finding hair in my rice or chicken. I like the green tea that comes with it. At 5 bucks, it is a pretty good deal, but I don't think I will be eating there anytime soon. :(

what am I eating today?!?!

Ima gonna eat me some Arriba Grill burrito by UCI!!

dat's rite! it's delicious!!

got dammit! keep this alive!

show YOURSELF!! buster!!!

There's a place called TipTop off of Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad + the 5 that has some really good European-style meals. They're actually a European deli but they do full service restaurant stuff.

Also, Vinaka's in downtown Carlsbad has the best freakin coffee I have ever had. They made me a blended Vanilla Latte with extra caramel that takes like it came from God itself. I tried to get all the other coffee shops in the area to make one just like it for me--Starbucks, Coffee Bean, even the independent shops--and it threw them for a loop :whistle2:(

I cant believe you San Diego People left out a few key resturants..

1. Niban - (japanese food) price range $6-12 . It's a small popular place on clairemont mesa, in the lot of Wonderland, Players grill, and music trader.

Best Dish - Sushi Bento ( You get a good amount of assorted sushi: Tuna, Halibet, shrimp, and california rolls and a chicken catsu, rice and soup)

2. El Cotixan - This small mexican resturant started with one main resurant on Genesee/Balboa. It took over another mexican resturant called Roybertos or something.. Anyways this place was so damn good that it has expanded to clairemont mesa, Chula Vista, Mira Mesa, and few other places that i dont know about. But the main Genesse location is simply the best.

Price range $3-8.

Best Dish: Carne asada burrito or Nacho Supreme. The main branch simply has the best hot sauce.

3. Kobe Masuna- japanese (tepanachi grill)
Sort like a rip off of Bennihanna this place is delicious.

Besh Dish- Go for lunch its Half off.
Prices: $10-20 for lunch.

4. Voltaire's Pizza - Best pizza in SD. It's a small little place located on West Balboa. Really close to El Coxtian, accross the street from Marie Calendars/Lungs drugs. Next to a Jambo Juice type place.

Prices: Cheap.....
Best Dish: Pepperoni pizza. They make good calzones too if you like that type of shit.

You San Diego people need to check out these four places.

Most expensive place i've eaten is Tsukiji, a small Sushi resturant in Torrance. Best #@@$^#^#$ sushi ever. of course I spent $200................

But yes, Shinsen Gumi is very nice for yakitori, and ramen if you like it. I'm a bit sick of ramen though.

in and out has declined over the years

In and out was a favorite of mine as a kid but eating there recently, I realise I am quite capable of making a burger 300x better.
