Hi all. I'm thinking about getting Call of Duty 2 pretty soon (yeah, I know I'm late, but better late than never right?) and wanted to know if a lot a people still play online. I need something to tide me over until Halo 3.

It'd be cool to get together another CAG night like we did with PDZ a few months back. Post if you're interested.

I wouldn't spend the money. Halo 3 is only a month away. I owned it when the 3rd one came out, and not that many people were playing it.

Well, I was just thinking about spending some Goozex points on it. There's really nothing else I want right now. I don't know, it's still up in the air.

Maybe I won't be trying so hard to get CoD 2. I just got into the CoD4 beta. Hmm.... we'll see.

But yeah, I also wanted to play through 2's single player campaign.

CoD2 will last you a good while.

I bought it for $10 bucks or whatever it was (around 10) when it had that big sale at Toys R Us. Great purchase. Games still fill up quick. I was playing the single player last night on veteran that I still haven't gotten around to beating.

If you can get it cheap, I'd get it at this point.

You don't get CoD2 for the multiplayer. The Single Player, however, is something to be experienced. Absolutely fantastic.

The single player is amazing, and well worth the less-than-$20 that you should be able to pick the game up for. I got it a few months ago for $12 from circuit city. Good stuff.

i still play it every nite for about 30 min to 1 hour. multi-player kicks asss. i like it better than GOW for multiplayer.

If you get it cheap, highly recommended. I actually never sold it because I still have 2 or 3 levels left on Vet difficulty that I definitely want to finish to get maximum achievement points. It's odd that one of the very first games for the console is one that strikes a really good balance of achievements that are CHALLENGING yet still fun to play.

Multiplayer is okay, but singleplayer is a must-play.

COD2 is simply the best WWII shooter ever made. At the prices it is at now, particularly used, it is a definite buy. The multiplayer matches are small, especilly compared to PC online matches (max 64), but there are some die hard fans out there who will fill up rooms, at least until COD4 (COD 2 and 4 are made by Infinity Ward) comes out in November.

Anyway...even if all you do is play the single player game, it is still worth it.

Avoid COD3 (developed by Treyarch). It allows more players online, but it is not nearly as good as COD2, by any strecth.

I got CoD2 for 14 bucks awhile ago at Circuit City. Worth the money even for single player. I loved it.

My only complaint is the tank missions/vehicle parts of missions. I thought those were pretty weak compared to the straight-on FPS game. Fortunately those only encompass maybe 15% of the game.

but yea Halo 3 is coming and will destroy multiplayer games[/quote]

Most people will be playing Halo 3, that's true, but the majority of them will thankfully be the kind of shitheels other online games will be better off without. I'm not a big Halo junkie, and hundreds of thousands of others are not either. So there's still going to be games to play. There's always somebody out there. I just got The Outfit from a store damn near giving it away and even that game (a notorious failure) has people playing it still.

COD2 is a great game, it's the one I bought when I was able to track down a 360. I agree, the tank portions are a little tedious and take you out of the flow of what you've been doing, but the game is ultimately a lot of fun and I still pledge to back through and get those Veteran achievements.

Both aspects of the game are phenomenal.

It's still incredibly easy to get matches on CoD 2/3. Tons of players play and number 3 consistently is in the top 10 for the week/month for Live games.

I don't have COD2 but i'm going to buy it when I see it for $5 or less. As long as the case, manual and game are in good condition..

I played some online last night. It's still really easy to get a game (although you run into the same people quite a bit). It was mostly older gamers as well, so it was nice playing without a 12 year old screaming in my ear.

I actually like this game's multiplayer a little better than the COD4 beta. The only thing in the beta that I missed in this game was the ability to sprint by clicking the left stick. The weapons seem a little better balanced in COD2, and the sniper rifle actually zooms in. It's more difficult to snipe with just the iron sights.

Well, I got the game a few days ago and I'm really enjoying it. I put Dead Rising on hold to play it, even. I haven't played online yet though. That will come, in time.
