Call of Duty 3 General Discussion
Borat speaks a mix of Hebrew and Yiddish in the film not Polish. The guy's Jewish. And Azamat speaks armenian.
Nope, he speaks some Polish, I can understand what he is saying. I believe he speaks it a little and since Americans can't understand the difference between Polish and Russian he can do it. Russian is the mian language Kazakhstan speaks btw.

Got this game for xmas from my wife, and just got really into it yesterday. Fantastic game, SP and MP. Anyone can feel free to add me (I don't use a headset for MP though). Any particular reason why people are playing ranked matches vs. player matches? I've found in most games that player matches seem more busy on LIVE.

WOW I just finished the Single Player, it is fuck ING INTENSE. Some of the levels were so out of control I was just like shooting every where and throwing grenades all around me, it was awesome, but insane.

I thought our squad was gonna die so many times, especially in the last level.

Also, I am freaking addicted to the MP mode, I can't stop playing this game!

Just finished up the Single Player. Overall it was pretty solid.

My only complaint was that the last couple missions felt really short.

I am going to attempt to pick up a couple achievements (Rifleman, Close Quarter, Allergic), then hit up the Multiplayer.

I jumped into War before I left for the Holidays and it was fucking intense. The shitty part was the team we were playing kept going for the tank so we were always fucked since I didn't know any good strategy other than run like hell.

Really? Fascinating as I can speak/read/write Hebrew and speak Yiddish and those were the main two I was hearing from him. I didn't make out any Polish and I know a slight bit of Polish.
I'm planning on finishing the single player first before I hit up multiplayer. What I've noticed, for the most part, is that the German soldiers do not take cover very well (always have limbs showing). I also don't like the lack of variety in the levels, as it seems I'm either attacking a field or a bombed out village. Shouldn't I be destroying oilfields, repelling German advances (not just having them repel mine) and securing railways?

This is just a crazy thought I had, but could Call of Duty 4 perhaps focus on the 1940 Battle of France? even if you lose, their certainly were enough objectives and successes to have a legitimate story-based WWII game.
Have you been playing on veteran? I've been trying to get the achievement and could hardly get past the first level. In veteran they fucking take cover and they know just who to shoot at all times.

I don't really know what you mean by variety, because if you take into consideration what part of the war they adapted in this CoD then all they have you do is pretty historically accurate (there are liberties taken no doubt though). At this point in the war it was more the Allies driving and hitting at the Germans. And you actually drive back a few German advances and the one that springs to mind is the last level of the game.

CoD4 is supposedly going to be set in some modern combat war. No specifics have been given though so it could be anything from Korean War upto the recent Iraq War. CoD5 which is in the planning stages, and these are just "rumors" as I have heard will return the series to its WWII roots and continue their WWII story.

fuck yaeh! War on certain levels with full/good/great teams in incredible. Best way to get rid of a tank is either to set up mines in the middle where you know it will have to pass ove or to take yourself out and play as a rocket launcher.

He says Hello (Jak się masz?) and Thank you (Dziekuje), Quiet (Cicho! When the cow makes a noise at the beginning at his home) in Polish. I guess I should of been clearer. When he sings about Jews from the cut clips, the song title is Polish.

I love the MP on this one, but the SP in 2 was a lot better. Maybe for 4, we could have a very different view of the war, from the German side?
Maybe for 4, we could have a very different view of the war, from the German side?
Would never happen. It doesn't get any more un-PC than putting the Nazi's in any sort of positive light, and playing as them would probably do that. Nothing in gaming is more PC than shooting (a) robots (b) aliens (c) nazis, so unless they're going to make next game about robotic alien cyborgs who invade and start WWIII, I think you will be killing Germans again.

I think Infinity Ward has already said they're departing from WWII for COD4 - going for a near future thing, I believe.

I believe it's recent present rather than near future, but that CoD5 or an offshoot would continue the WWII storyline. Still, I'm already eagerly waiting for CoD4 which I'm sure will probably be out this/next Christmas I hope. See this is a game that I don't mind buying sequels/titles every year for. It just seems that they keep it fresh everytime and more players are always joining and it's just a blast to play.

can someone explain "recent present?" don't you mean recent past?
can someone explain "recent present?" don't you mean recent past?
Perhaps sometime in this current decade with the Iraq War or a Call of Duty played out during a made up war (similar to GRAW) but in current times using modern weaponry.

Other plausibilities that I have read at other CoD3 forums is to the possibility of it being Vietnam, but done properly this time.

I would love to see a Call of Duty game take place in the pacific theater in World War 2. We've spent too much time in Europe in this series.
New Map Pack coming the 18th

Excellent news!!! I can't wait. And I just got a 1600 point Live card recently. Perfect timing to use. The maps are great overall with the ones that it comes with and Champs reminds me of good ol' CoD2 maps, so I hope for more maps similar to CoD2 ones like really good close range combat maps. I actually here that that is what should be coming. Hopefully we get another contribution of maps after this one as I'm sure I'll master it as well.

Jumping on right now. I know it's tough for friends to get lucky and get together to play in Ranked matches, but if you want to jump on some player matches for whatever mode them I'm game.

I'd love to start a CAG clan for this game with perhaps some type of a tourney. If you're interested then just reply in this thread and I'll see to try and get something started.

About damn time.

Has anyone tried the free map? It would be good if it were a little bigger. It's so small and shoved with so much crap that it's not that fun to play on.

Well all I can say is the wheat field is pure chaos, I don't even know whats going on, but it is so awesome fighting in it :)

The field is amazing, but the few timews I played it most were not in the field. They were either in one base or another. Plus they have places to shoot from in the church tower, but there are too many tress in the way to see / do anything.

I really like the new free map. It's something different than the usual wide open expanses of level we have. This map is big enough, but really perfect for any number of people. Great for small groups of 4 on 4 because of the contained quarters people fight in and with more people it becomes absolute mayhem.

I have played the new map 12 vs 12 on I think it was War, the game was completely pointless as everyone would fight over the flag for 30 minutes. Snipers would just be somewhere and kill you have 1 second, that's what I really hate. I was a rocket launcher and just tried to take large numbers out, but when I use it no one dies. The other team doesn't come close to hitting me and I'm dead.

My favorite map is Los Something, the big town level. It's great fun just trying to take the roads. Except once we were on a team that was so dumb. We joined it was 3 to 1 Alies and we were the Nazis. Within 5 minutes it was 7 to one because the Alies were going in the back way. My friend and I couldn't hold off the people each time and the rest of the team was useless.

According to various posts I've read, the new maps don't appear once you download them. MS reps say to delete them and re-download them, but that doesn't work. Others have said that if you delete the Champs map the Valor maps appear on the list, but when selected you get sent back to the main menu.
I haven't kept track of this game since I never purchased it. Does it support split screen online play like Gears of War & GRAW?
Co-op: No

MP over Live: Yes

Looks like they've taken the maps off the MP.

Thanks, I'll try to rent it tonight to give it a whirl.

You can't do anything with the maps because they are not even appearing on Marketplace.

Once they work find Razorbak128 so I can kick your all your asses.
Looks like I'll wait for the new maps. I haven't owned this game that long, and I'm getting tired of Elder Dam already.
But that's the best level :D
But that's the best level :D
It is the best I won't doubt that. but with other games I play online the host will change the map every other session to keep it fresh. I've played 6 hours straight at Elder Dam.
Eder Dam is my third favorite. My favorites are Les Something and Piossen, or whatever they are called.
I LOVE those maps too :)

They are Les Ormes and Poisson ;)

It's a free map. There are like 6-7 maps in the game, then the one really badly designed free "Champs" level. It would be fine, but for such a small level there is too much stuff around.

The three we mensioned are great, Fuel Planet is terrible and so is... Merville I think it's called.
I need to rent this. Are the free maps anygood? I am not dropping 10 dollars worth of points on maps right now.
I think all the maps are pretty hot besides Fuel Plant.

Hey David85 send me a Friends Request. You seem to play the game a good amoutn and I like to compare my stats with other friends. pimpinc333 is my gametag. Thanks.
