Seems that Activision is making Elite free with Black Ops 2, which makes it now clear why the BO2 hardened and care packages do not have anything with elite in it.

Considering almost every aspect of Elite was broken from the start and it took months to get everything we paid for to work properly, it should be.

I actually played (and enjoyed) the special ops, so it was worth it for me, but all of the people who I know who are online only were severely disappointed in Elite. I wasnt going to renew my sub, but this is good news.
 
Elite has always been free, Elite Premium costs more money and includes new maps. This free Elite will not include any new map packs, so it's a bunch of bullshit stat tracking for free, just like the Elite free version on Modern Warfare 3. Useless. Come post when Elite Premium is free.
 
Meh...not really. The "free" service is that now everyone gets the maps at the same time, there's still a fee for the map.

From the sound of it all the clan stuff is indeed free. As well as a few other Elite Premium things. The only thing you pay for now are the Maps, which of course wouldn't be free. 4000 MSP for the Season pass which includes all 4 packs, or just single packs at 1200 MSP.
 
Wow, I'm super glad I didn't purchase a subscription extension this summer. What happens for people with multiple years on their account? Will they get the map packs for free?
 
According to Gamasutra, subscribers of the current Elite will continue to get the current benefits for MW3 but not Blops II...so if you paid for 2+ years of the service you are guaranteed support of a game that has already stopped getting support. LAME
 
Why would anyone want to extend their subscription by another year this early without any info? There wasn't a discount plus it was on the elite site months ago that the elite subscriptions you buy now were only for mw3
 
Because people are stupid, and they were hoping they would strike a deal by getting both the mw3 DLC and all of the black ops 2 DLC by only paying for one year.
 
I'd personally setup a support ticket and complain you might get a refund or a game or something.
Specially if you purchased an extension cause 1 year fine you got all the mw3 content but 2 years you've paid over the amount of what that stuff should cost.

Yup, sadly greedy stupid people cry the loudest so I'm sure they'll get something out of this anyway.
