I'm in there today looking for Rez (which they wouldn't even look in the back for) and a new HDTV with a reasonable sound system. I notice they have a clearance tag of $899 on a 23" Sony LCD HDTV. I ask the kid working if they have any in stock so he checks the computer and other area Best Buys and says they have none NIB. He says are you interested in the one displayed with the clearance sticker so I say sure. He leaves and comes back and says the manager won't let me sell the "display" model even though we have two and it's a discontinued model. Then he puts the clearance price card back where it was, even though he has "none" to sell and can't sell the one on display.
At this point I'm cool and just go and look at the new LCD HDTVs. Then I see the EXACT same TV for $1299 as an open box return item. I call the kid over again and ask him if I can buy that one, because I know by this time something has to be up. He says nope. So I ask to talk to his "supervisor" as to why he has two of the same TVs on display with price tags and he won't sell either one. (I'm being very cordial and mind you I'm probably gonna drop around $1400 in the store.) He comes back and says the "guy in charge" just says he can't sell them.
As I'm leaving I ask the "greeter" dude in the front if they have a new policy on not selling open box or display items even though they have them in the store with prices with them. I briefly explain what's going on and he says I'll check into it with my manager. Then he stands there, stands there, and stands there. So I ask him if he's going to check for me and he says there is no way to leave his post to go check but that he'll check on it for me. I ask him if he plans on calling me to tell me why I can't buy it and he looks at me like I'm nuts. By this time I'm totally confused, but I'm being nice about it also. He's gonna check on it but he can't check on it. What in the honey baked hell!?
Now I ask him since when couldn't you talk to a manager at a retail store to ask a simple question. He flat ass looked at me and didn't answer. So I said so I'm gonna drop between $1400 and $1600 in here tonight and you won't let me talk to a manager. He stares at me and I said I'm going to Circuit City. WEIRD, WEIRD, WEIRD!!
I've shopped there for YEARS and dropped LOTS of money in there, but the last 3 times I was in there looking at high ticket items it's like they don't wanna sell anything to me.
Anyone have any theories or experienced this???? I'm just gonna stop shopping there altogether.
Sorry if this rambles and I hope it's in the right thread.
