i went and check the UPS office to see where my Season 24 dvds were. well the dude goes " they were deliveryed to your front door" I told them there was nothing at my front door... goes into the back comes out and says ..

O there was a mistake the person put it behind your trash cans behind your house..

so i went and boom there they was covered in the snow and rain we got last night...

anyone know if these will still work or take them back and demand they do a exchange

did you open the box up? Are the actual dvd boxes inside damaged, or is it just the outer shipping box? I would open it up first and determine that. If they are damaged inside, even a little, I would demand a refund/replacement. Why would the delivery guy take it upon homself to hide your packages wherever he feels like? Maybe you live in an area where you cant leave packages on your front step all day but that doesnt give him the right to create some kind of halfbaked scavenger hunt!

Mine were shipped in an oversized plastic bubble mailer  , so they should have suvived some rain and snow, though if they were sitting there for hours, they might not end up being too good.

And the UPS guy doesn't need to take liberties on where to "hide" packages. If you're not there to accept it, and they think it's not safe for them to do a LFD delivery (left at front door), they should leave an InfoNotice and let you set up alternate delivery.

Complete bullshit, that is, "hide them behind the trash can".

The only way that would be acceptable is if you know your Ups guy and have a preestablished 'hiding spot' for your packages. I actually know people who have this arrangement and it works well. But the Ups guy cant just assume you knew he was there and would begin searching around your property...

They (DVD experts?) probably say you are to avoid excessive heat or cold. (Seems like heat would be more of a problem to me.) I bet they'd work, but once you open it you might be stuck? I don't know.

My UPS guy will sometimes put the doormat over packages to 'hide' them and once he stashed something in the closet that is just off the front porch. But yeah, hiding it somewhere that will not be noticed by the resident AND be hit by rain, snow, etc. ain't too bright. I guess he figured you put the trash can away every day or something and would see it then? Still bad idea.

Heat would warp the disk, but I really cant think of cold doing anything to them beyond making them brittle over time if you keep doing it. They may also cloud up if you try to play them right away due to the temperature differential.

Great idea in theory, horrible idea in practice. UPS drivers change routes every so often, so they don't get stuck driving the same route, all the time. So, one driver might know your "hiding spot", the next one won't. Until you tell them, and so on.

If I'm not there when they deliver it, and I don't have a signed statement I've sent them authorizing to leave all packages without getting a signature, they shouldn't deliver it, period. They're responsible for it, and if I'm not there to accept it and it doesn't look secure/safe to leave it, leave an InfoNotice and let me worry about getting it.

My apartment thankfully is out of the way enough from the general populace's view of my front door that most of the time, UPS/DHL/FedEx leaves it without getting a signature, unless it's signature required. Not everyone is so lucky.

I'd bitch up a storm at UPS, bare minimum. IMHO, it's not acceptable to leave it where this guy left this package.

what is werid is the postman left a box right on the front step, so dont ask me why the ups man just didnt set their package next to the other one instead of putting it behind the house. if i never went down ther the package would still be sitting out there

it seems like slidecage has some of the worst luck on here (especially with the eb morning update thread).. of all the things that shouldn't go wrong (like UPS and delivery) you seem to get the short end of the stick.. maybe its time you rethink your neighborhood or location or something.. but i know.. I'm not meaning to be mean. I think you're DVDs will be fine.. just yeah don't play them immediately after bringing them in and I'd get them ASAP if you haven't already. hope everything works out..

I once had a poster signed by my favorite band (eve 6) and they sent it in a mailer tube and we had really bad rain that week and it got damaged and i'm still mad about that (even though the band gave it to me.. the post office all they did was write "sorry it got damaged".. ah well) its framed and looks alright except for a few creases that are noticable but i won't be selling it so thats all that matters heh..

Brown Guy took one look at the package, saw the Best Buy logo/return address, and proceeded to play yet another round of the classic game we all know and love:
Hide The Nerd-Candy...
