I got this info from RFD, and it's definitely on. Trade your $8+ games in, get $25 TIV per title when used towards a new console.

I bought a PS3 Slim (CECH-2101A) at EB by trading in DiRT and GTA4, both for PS3. Best part of all, DiRT was a used game I bought recently at BBV for $5. :)

As a side note to us Vaughan people and Zelda mentioned in the TIV thread, Vaughan EB's are finally taking trade-ins. I bought my console at the 400 and 7 location, one of the few that still had Slims in stock. I think they still have them because no one knows they've had their trading permit since last Tuesday. :bouncy:

I wish I had a link apart from RFD, lots of turd-talk and hoarders in the thread
Is the CECH-2101A a 120GB or 250GB PS3? I've heard of it but don't know much info about it.
CECH-2101A is the 120gb, I think there is a CECH-2101B which is just 250gb instead. The Cell and RSX chips are both now 40nm (or 45, not sure), so it's 10%-15% more efficient than before.

Don't think the B is out yet. If you're upgrading from a 60GB it's like 50% or more reduction in wattage which should lead to lower temps. My 2101 has been super quiet and only slightly warm, the temp is a hell of a lot cooler than my 60GB ever was. I keep both vertical.

Oh my, I'm so tempted just because I'm scared my 60 GB PS3 might die and my DS Lite's hinge just cracked. $25 per valid game?

I have no clue how you know I have a 60 GB PS3 but I guess you were just relating to your own experiences. My 60 GB is surprisingly still running very well. Never had a problem with it and it's nice and quiet as well but I'm definitely interested in the lesser wattage usage of the new PS3s and also the Bravia sync as I have a Bravia entertainment center. I use to play a lot of PS2 games and also use the card readers but that's done with now so I don't really have a use for keeping the 60 GB.

No word of a lie, I can't tell the system is on apart from the green light. But maybe that's from my old 60gb killing my hearing...

Yep, $25 per valid game up to the full value of the console.

I went to EB yesterday with 18 games, 12 had a 8$ TIV. The sad thing is the guy said they were out of stock of PS3, and that they wouldnt really be getting any for a while except 1 or 2 here and there. He also said it was out of stock everywhere till summer (?)
Anyhow, I ended up getting a black Wii for now.

On a side note I also bought Dirt at BBV but it wasnt 5$ used but rather 13$.

My 60GB was running great as well, flawless since I bought it in mid-2007 til one day in Feb I turned it on, left the room and heard a beep. It had YLOD'd just sitting on the XMB. Got it repaired locally for $100 and around that time they were talking about the FCC filings for the 2101 so I decided to wait and buy one of those because I have no faith in my 60GB. It's very likely to die again, who knows when.

My Lite's hinge has been cracked for the last 2+ years, it's not that big a deal. No need to buy a new one unless you just feel like it.

FYI, For those of you who purchased a PS3 with the deal and have not opened it (like me)

You should return it and get credit back, then reserve the new 250 GB bundle with God of Ware 3 for free that comes out on June 10th. That's what Ill do with my 120GB PS3.

Gotta love my EB's manager, I was looking to exchange for a 250 GB and he proposed that Id do that instead.

The 250GB version will be dropping to the price of the 120GB version, or just a $349.99 bundle with GoW III? Either way, GoW III's TIV might drop quite a bit when people get word of the new bundle.

I understood from the manager that the new 250GB bundle with GOW is going to be at the same prince at the current 250GB. I dont know if its going to replace it going forward, but my guess would be yes.

Also, GOW is in June most wanted, so you will get 35$ for it, at least until mid June.
Powertrade that and you get a 250GB PS3 for 7.50$ cheaper than a 120GB.

Any more info on the GoW3 + PS3 bundle? My regular gaming sites don't mention it. I thought the impending bundle was PS3 + MLB: The Show!

Not really, comes out on June 10th. 350$. I didnt hear about it either but i think its been mentioned on RFD once or twice.

No reason the manager would lie to me.

He might not have been lying, he simply could've been incorrect. Such a bundle would've popped up on someone's radar, but usually Canada is ignored in such postings if it's indeed for Canada-only. Sweet deal, though!

Confirmed that a new ps3 bundle 250 GB with God of War Collection (not GOW3) is coming out next week.

My EB has received it and I have seen the physical proof.
Awww, collection and not III? Booooo!

Not your fault though, thanks for sharing.
I know I know, better than nothing though.

Awesome! Sorry for the confusion, my GF reported the information to me... I think she got confused between God Of Wars... (-_-);
The manager was right in the first place.

EBGames GOW Bundle includes:

 • PlayStation®3 250GB system with 1 DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller
 • 1 additional DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller (!!!)
 • God of War III
 • AC power cord
 • AV cable
 • USB cable
Edit:
LMAO!
EB first updated the product page title to PS3 250 GB bundle with GOW III and Killzone 2, and then later removed it altogether from the site. So I guess they are confused (or were not allowed to put it up so early)

Just got back from an EB that got them in stock today. It's GoW Collection and Killzone 2. No extra controller. 250GB model. $349.99. I saw the box, the games are bundled inside.

Yes, finally they got it this time, It says God of War Collection now.
End of dilemma, Ill go pick my reservation tonight.

Well better later than never. The link I posted earlier did have the GoW III in the pic and description, but they've since removed the posting.

He passed on the bundle and just got the 120GB model instead. He's already finished the first two GoW games and doesn't have much interest in Killzone 2 so he saved the $50 for the extra controller bundle instead.

Just a heads up that one EB games I called said they can't sell the bundle until Fathers Day, but the EB games I was at today would have sold it to so YMMV on when you can pick up these bundles.

Ive heard that those PS3 are first gen 250 GB. Im going to see tonight If I can score myself a newer one (or if there is another better bundle coming soon)

Has anyone tried trading in duplicates for this promo? Obviously trading in three or four of the same games would be bad news, the most I would do is two of the same game. I already own Uncharted and Infamous, but the 2/$40 on GH games at Sears might be worth doing if EB is accepting duplicates.

I'm pretty sure you can't. They should take same titles for different systems since they have different SKU. If you're going to pay $20 per title for $25 TIV, it's not hard to find different games. Go to Staples, Blockbuster or the Source and you should find enough.

Thanks Mr., I actually stumbled across the promo page on the Gamestop website and it definitely states 'No Duplicates' so there goes that idea. I might go out and buy the 6 qualifying GH titles for $120 + tax, then trade in a handful of my own games that are easily replaceable. I'll end up spending about $200 including tax, but I'll be saving over $150 so it's still a solid deal!
