I am well past due for a new PC. My trusty gaming PC is now over 5 years old, and it just can't handle the load anymore. I am dying for a new pc, I got the cash, but my lack of knowledge is killing me here. I've never built a PC from stratch, and the thought of buying all these parts, and crossing my fingers that it will boot up does not appeal to me.
I have several options, but none of them really are solid chooses. I don't need a high end machine, just something between 500 - 700 that will run all the latest games. Here are the choices I'm facing:
1. Buy a custom used desktop off Ebay - it is always hit or miss if I can snag a great deal. I've been outbid on every one. I found this one tonite #260084737726. How much do you think this PC is worth? I've always used intel processors so I have no idea if AMD 3500 is really fast or not. I do want a fast processor because this is the one component I never want to have to upgrade.
2. Buy a Barebones System off Ebay - I am comfortable with barebones. If you can get me the motherboard, CPU, heatsink, fans and power supply, I can hook up the rest. Yet, the choices are limited in my search. One guy sells a celeron 3.2 barebones. I've always heard celerons were suckiest gaming processors. I'm really interested in this one #150089082489. But I need some hardware gurus to tell me the cons of this system.
3. Buy Cheap on Newegg and put it all together - I really don't think this option will work because the reviews are so mixed on the cheaper parts. I found a nice looking intel motherboard for 95 bucks, but some of the reviews said it died in 48 hours. I can't risk it.
4. Find barebone system elsewhere - Honestly, I don't know where to look. The local shops insist on using only their parts so screw that. I want a nice case that lights up, not their butt ugly ones such as the barebone systems no www.cpu4u.com.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm tired of missing out on all these great PC games!
