Can someone post a pic of what the Firefox browser looks like? (inadvertant OTT)

radeon 9600xt will do it for you
That's the card I have. Right now I only have a 20" Trinitron CRT, but I'd like to have a pair of LCDs sometime in the near future.
Nah man, 1 CRT + 1 LCD is the way to go. CRT is so much better for gaming and shit, and LCD for movies. I watch movies on my LCD (15'') over my big screen tv (Can't get the damn HDD working) all the time because of picture quality.

Fit is the problem. I've got like 5 CRTs--they're so cheap. Luckily I've got space when my printer is moved. :) I'll take a pic tomorrow of my space.

I don't really have room for 2 monitors if I keep the CRT ... a 20" takes up alot of space.

sblymnlcrymnl, is that program easy to use?
Tweak UI? Yeah, I think so. Everything is divided into sections and there are descriptions for each option so you know exactly what it is you're changing.
I don't see an option in TweakUI to put winamp on the desktop. Are you using Windowblinds by any chance?

That's just within winamp.

hehe, I picked up a 24in. flat screen monitor from my friend for $100 used. Told me he got it from surpluscomputer.com for $400 each when the retailed $2000. Oh, and I think tutorialized.com is a good site for, what else? - tutorials. It's not Photoshop-centric as it has Dreamweaver, C++, AutoCAD, and other things as well.

That was my expression too when he offered it too me. I asked why he's letting it go for so cheap. His reply? Cuz I want a projector and I need some extra cash and since I bought it a while back. I'll give it to ya at a fraction of the price. No way I'm ignoring that deal! :D

Anyone else find it funny that a thread with a simple question that got answered in the first post ended up becoming almost 4 pages long? Gotta love message boards :D
Everybody says Firefox is better, and I have both FF and IE. However, I am still not sure if I like Firefox better. it takes longer to load. Everyone told me it took less time, and I am on a (super fast) connection. The pictures take a bit longer to load than they do in IE. When I open new pages, they also take a bit of time to load. It is getting annoying. IE doesn't do this at all. The only thing I like is the tabbed browsing. I think I may remove FF if it keeps up...
I agree. Its the littel things that make it suck. Like sometimes when you click the back button, it doesnt always take you to the place you left off, its goes to the top of the page. Some websites dont load right. Thirdly, it loads a page piece by piece, then its like it refreshes the whole page. Very annoying if you are typing something then it refreshes, and puts the cursor at teh beginning again.

The back button thing's never happened to me, websites not loading right is microsoft's fault, and the cursor moving thing happens in IE as well.

That was really informative, and also very sad:
"the cat's pajamas" (pyjamas were still new enough to be daring)
I can't imagine a time when that phrase was a "new" and "daring" addition to daily speech thanks to pj's. Man, those rebels! :D

Nice, that's dual monitors, right? I've always wanted to rig that up.
Yeah. Left is my laptop monitor, right is second. Almost any video card or laptop in the last year or two should give you the option to hook up dual monitors.
What if I have a 9800 Pro and a laptop from like 1998? Will the screen at least work as a dual moniter? I might be able to get some use out of the old piece of crap. I'm assuming it won't work.

After reading the posts on this thread, I decided to try Firefox. Damn it's a nice browser. Love the tabs too. Normally I'd have 5-10 IE windows at 20k ram each but now I have one firefox window with 6 tabs open running at 80k ram total. Nice!

Still have to get used to clicking on the tabs to switch instead of the bottom of the screen. Also have to customize it a bit more.

I'm also typing this up on Firefox as of now.

how do you guys take a picture like that?
Just push the "print screen" button on your keyboard, open the built-in program microsoft paint (if you have windows), and just paste it into the program. Now save it as a JPG (or bitmap if you prefer) and you're all set.
If you hold the Alt key while pressing Print Screen it will only save the active window to the clipboard, so you don't have to have a pic of your whole desktop.

It is if you want to change settings that you can't normally access. Most of the Power Toys are worth a look, actually.
I can't stand tabs, so I went back to IE.
I hate the tabs too, I just don't use them. Its an optional feature.

I'll never go back to IE again, ever since they made it so that you can't put your login in the address bar I totally turned my back on IE. Why conform to one browser if theres tons of better ones on the net.

I don't know how to use the laptop monitor as the secondary, only primary.

It's just a big Firefox love fest. :D

I know this probably is impossible, but is there someway to have multiple tabbed webpages come up when I open Firefox, each one with a separate homepage. If so thatd be sweet, but I doubt it's a possibility.

If you right click on the screen and pull up the display properties and click on settings you should see one monitor selected and one greyed out, you right click on the greyed out one and say attached then right click again and say primary. I do this shit all the time, one person in our company has 5 monitors hooked up in a row.

Anybody know of any keyboard shorcuts that can let you switch from one tab to another kind of like how holding "alt" than "shift" lets you switch windows? I like to have as much control as possible over my comp without having to go to my mouse.

I don't think I've ever seen this feature before, sorry. Your best bet might be to use the favorites toolbar for easy one-click access to a favorite site., though it's not quite what your looking for.

Firefox rules! I have no problems with spyware or popups since switching. Also switch to a Mozilla based (or anything other than Outlook) email, helps a lot in the virus world (most viruss are written for Microsoft Outlook, outlook express.

Once you learn how to use mouse gestures in Firefox(You hold down a mouse button and wave your mouse in different motions anywhere on the screen - like drag left to go back, up to open link in new tab, down to close tab, up&left or up&right to switch to next tab, etc) you'll NEVER be able to go back to IE. It's fully customizable and makes surfing 20 times more efficient. It's gotten bad for me actually because I use like 20-30 gestures regularly and sometimes I'll be waving my mouse around in other windows apps because I'm so used to the gestures :(
