Can you do this?

Well, right now I'm deciding on a PS3 or 360. So I was thinking, could you buy it, test it for a bit and then return it? I'm thinking of doing it at Costco since their RP is good.

Why not just go into a GS or Walmart and play around with their kiosks for a little while? What you are suggesting would likely require some illegal action to get them to accept your return.

If CostCo has a return policy that allows for this (like 14 days on opened items no questions asked or something) then go for it.

yea or go to GS and buy a used one and you get 7days to see if you like it or not...but it comes down to exclusives like always....you like halo then go 360, you like uncharted go ps3

I would suggest getting both, I have both and love them. They each have nice things about them. I would say start with the 360, and wait til sony gets their shit together with their price cuts or the slim thing, than grab one of those.

Do you have friends who would let your borrow their systems?

I'm kinda shocked that you haven't tried either of these systems until now.

I personally have found some of the best deals usually come around a holiday, especially Christmas both my 360 & my ps3 I bought around the holiday and got $100 gift card. Plus add in the fact the PS3 is dropping deals are bound to happen

I own them both & feel for use of multiplayer games right out of box ps3 is the way to go you never have to worry that membership has run out as there is no fees

Neither the 360 or the PS3 is defined by ONE game. Both have good games and shockingly, I like the multiplatform games more than exclusives.

Same here.

While I like my PS3, its primarily my Blu-Ray/DVD player and is my PS3 exclusive player second, as I only have two games for it. Most of my collection and playtime is spent on the 360 because of Netflix and Party Chat.

To be honest, you can't go wrong with either console. 90% of the current games out now are on both consoles, so it really comes down to what features you want, what your budget is, and what console your friends own.

I am shocked (as well) that you have no friends who own atleast one of these.... back in Ps2 and xbox days you used to be able to rent the systems from blockbuster. Do they do that for 360/ps3?

I hate to say it, because I'm a die-hard 360 guy (not a fanboy. I will not get into pointless arguements about the systems. I just prefer the 360 a lot) but at it's current price point, the PS3. ONLY because it packs in a blu-ray player for the same cost. At the old price, I would have gone with the 360.
