I have a PS3 40GB (no memory card reader/writers) and I want to buy the new 80gb PS3(non metal gear version), but I dont want to lose my game saves on the 40GB PS3. Is there a way I can transfer the game saves onto the new PS3?
You realize the systems are IDENTICAL, except for the bigger hard drive? You could get one twice that for less than $100. Otherwise, you're paying $400 for 40gb (unless you sell the current system, but still...).
If you can transfer game saves to a USB Flash Drive, then can we assume there are web sites that offer game save down loads?
It costs the same as the 40gb and it includes a dual shock rather than just a six axis. makes sense to exchange them. Same price for 'better' controller.
-Copy over all your stuff (data saves which aren't locked) to a USB thumb/flash drive and copy it to a new PS3.
-Do a System backup utility under the options screen, and back up the HDD to an external HDD (then restore it on another PS3).
although...some saves are locked to the system and CAN'T be transfered...one example is NGS
When I did a system backup utility, all my saves moved over, including NG: Sigma.
I painstakingly copied all my ps2 and ps3 saves to my jump drive. They won't take up very much space so you can go cheap and get a low capacity usb drive for $5. What sucks right now is that the PS3 makes you copy them one by one.. I think I had about 30-40 saves and it was time consuming.
Only one game wouldn't let me copy.. was it Rock Band?
