1 DSi XL per store, minimum 20. Considering the decent list of games, you may have problems finding stock of XL's at BB.

So you could easily spend $150 or less for 5 games for this promo.

Drawn to Life Wii is $10 for the next few hours at BB, so get your ISPU in.
EB: Brutal Legend 360 $20 new, $15 used; GH WT Wii $20 used,
Staples: Tiger Woods 2010, Halo Wars, GH games for about $20 each.
Source: Halo Wars $20, Brutal Legend $15, Prototype PS3 $25, Transformers 2 PS3/360 $20, Wolverine PS3 $25, MySims Agents $20, RE Zero $25, Scene It Twilight $25, Wolverine Wii $15 (there are a bunch of $30 games too)
Rogers also should have cheap copies of Transformers 2: about $20-25 new.
Do any Ottawa Best Buy stores even trade in games yet? I don't even see one listed in the participating list. I guess they'll be driving over to Gatineau?
None of the Best Buys in Ottawa allow you to trade in games for credit yet. Maybe in the future. I'm sure they would have mentioned it on their website or at RFD.

Those people at RFD are very difficult to take seriously. They call their worthless games "turds". They are too much.

Anyone in Edmonton planning on going for this?

I've been called into work for 9am so I'm willing to pay for someone to grab one for me. Send me a PM if you're willing.

Thanks
When the Wii, and Nintendo 64 launched, there was already a huge line up by the time I was there. I think this will be more similar to the Gamecube launch, where there's just a few people huddled around the door prior to opening in a not so organized fashion.
Hardcore, you waited for all three eh?

I got the N64 a few days before it was supposed to launch. I was a kid and went with my mom to Microplay to ask about the N64's power bar and if it's included (noobs), and the guy was like "We actually have the system right now, eh? Want one?" You can imagine how I felt :D

For the Cube launch I just went 10 minutes before the store opened, and there were only like 10 people in line.

For the Wii, I waited 8 or so hours outside of Best Buy (Merivale). Over a hundred people showed up, and more kept coming as we were leaving. BB only had 75 in stock.

Sorry, off-topic!

Yeah, I've been reading that...I'm probably just going to return everything tomorrow. I might keep Race Pro, idk. I heard it was very good.

WTH? TIV 9+ AND be on the list....wth
Just back from a good run....i was gonna say, now it might be all crap. So this means for sure Brutal Legend do not qualify? And also Shaun White Snowboarding (tivs.ca says 3$) ....

Anyway, it seems all version of Star Wars Clone Wars Republic Heroes are on the list and have a 9+ TIV. Theyre selling for 14.99 at BBV. Mine had 2-3 copies for each system.

Also, heads-up, it seems used copies of Assassin's Creed 2 are marked down this week at 24.99!

edit: it seems both Shaun White & TMNT were removed form the list? darn!

Even though I bought a few titles today like Trauma Centre, Turtles Smash Em Up, Fossil Fighters, and Animal Crossing DS.. if I'm stuck with them, it's not the end of the world. I've been playing Turtles in fact, and it's great. Haha..

I have a number of back up titles as well, so I'll try a lot. Really, even if you're paying $30 per title, you're still saving $50. But at that point, the trading, the lines, the insanity.. it might not be worth it.

We'll see!

Yep. Nintendo 64, I was 13.. and my dad took me to Toys'R'Us, where I had a preorder. We were there about an hour early, and there was already a good lineup of about 30 people.. which for the city of Santa Rosa, and the time in the industry.. was quite a bit. I picked up Super Mario 64 at launch (my neighbor would pick up Pilotwings with his), it was my only game until much later in the year when I picked up Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

The Gamecube was a more quiet launch. I had reserved it at Funcoland, and I picked it up with a number of titles like Rogue Squadron, Wave Race, and Luigi's Mansion. There were only a couple of us outside the door when it finally opened, and that was that. On a funny note; a couple months before, I had actually imported a Gamecube controller from Japan because I was so hyped for the systems release. To this date, I swear the controller still feels the best in my hands, even if the button layout is a little odd.

And for the Wii, I hadn't even decided I would do it until the last minute. I had been in Canada for about three months (permanently) at the time, and I didn't have a lot of cash to burn. Ah, but I couldn't resist another system launch. I dropped by the Oakville Best Buy at 4:00am, figuring I would be well positioned to grab a system.. but to my surprise, I was number 187 in line by the time I was there! The line went clear around the back of the building! They had 210 systems at the store, and we reached that number by about 4:30. Best Buy was extremely organized, and about an hour before the store opened, they handed out sheets for us to fill out (what we wanted, games, accessories, etc), and they prepacked our orders before we even set foot inside. This saved everyone from a lot trampling, and insanity. Kudos to Best Buy.

And those are my launch stories. Handhelds, I usually settle for importing, or picking up casually after launch.

Yeah, agreed...ill try. its fun :)
Where did you get Trauma? FutureShop used? or EB at 25?

I actually own it already, but I picked it up at a local mom n' pop shop for $14.99. I know you can probably find it for $9.99, but I just needed a fifth title. It'll become a present if I'm unable to trade it.

The Trauma Centre games are really great fun, and people should give them a shot. The Wii versions are much more forgiving than the DS hairpulling frustration fest (still fun).

Ever try using the Healing Touch with the Wii remote? Even the tutorial was almost impossible to pull off: you have to be fast and accurate enough to draw a star.

Hmm that's too bad about TMNT and Shaun White. They're still $8+ at EB though so I'll play them through and then trade them in. They only cost $8 each at BB anyway. :)

I do have some backup games though...

The tutorial was maddening at first, but I was able to use the Healing Touch at will later on. I didn't find any of the controls too shabby.
So is the chance of getting on this deal pretty slim? I really want one...
Just from looking at RFD it seems like lots of people over there are giving up on it since BB keeps taking games off their list.
Is every games in the list on that BB website qualify?
No, if you read the smaller text it says has to have a minimum trade-in value of 9 dollars. The list is not only confusing people but probably only has a handful of games that are worth over 9 dollars.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that Bestbuy will only be looking for the min TIV as the requirement. Unless you have a bunch of eligible games that's just sitting around it's not that great of a deal imo.

Looks like the Ottawa stores are now going to be part of this deal tomorrow. They have added the three locations here.

Me, I'd rather wait for the 3DS. I'd rather just buy another DS Lite someday.

Ill try my luck! If all goes well, it will have costed me 67.50$ + tax for the DSi. Bought 24.99 games, better safe than sorry!
you sure bout that? tivs.ca says 7 & 6$
neksus hasn't updated tivs.ca for some time but RFD reported both games >$8 (as of yesterday: may have dropped today).

I think the best options are 2/$30 DS games at Rogers (go for Nintendo first-party titles), AC2 ($25 used at FS), and scouring Staples and other stores for cheaper titles.
Reading RFD, it seems as if I maybe could have gotten this, Brutal Legend withstanding. Oh well.
Yeah same here; if I was in KW I might've made the effort, seems like Josh got to the Kitchener BB at like 9:30 and managed to grab two, so I'm sure if you got there at 9am you would've been set. Oh well.
was easy as pie!
What did you trade in to get it? I would have used Shawn White, TMNT, Brutal Legend, Zelda: PH and Race Pro. I heard BL wouldn't have worked, but the others...?

Agreed, was easy as it can be! I didnt try Brutal Legend or anything either.
On top of that, they gave a 10$ coupon rebate for Wii/Ps3/360 games. Bought TMNT and Shaun White...got those free!

Incredible day :)

Got mine, I was the last (20th) to take advantage of the offer. They still had several units behind the counter for regular price.

I picked one up today. I probably should have done the cheapass thing and grabbed a bunch of loser games to trade in, but instead I just rounded up some decent games that I'm either done with or would be easy/cheap to replace.

That meant:
Batman (GOTY coming soon)
Animal Crossing Wii (wife played it to death)
Excitebots (

After coming to the realisation that my titles wouldn't qualify, I did the DSLite+2 games at EBgames (for $125 toward the XL). Not nearly as sexy, but I'm happy with my decision. I'm glad you guys got yours.

RFD appears to have been successful too, with many people picking up multiple XL's.. and they're going to sell them for massive profit. :/

Best Buy's little bait n' switch tactic here was pretty low too, but it did what they hoped it would do. They really should be reported to the BBB, but it's not like anything would actually come from it, and they had their asses covered legally with the 'fine print'.
was easy as pie!
Josh, I think you're a cool guy: don't turn into the balonis-type hoarders with their little trade secrets and bragging.

After hearing about how the TMNT/SW combo was still working, I made the trip to BB and scored a Burgundy DSi XL (they were out of Bronze). Guess they had a lot because the CSR said they were getting a lot of trades. They were only checking TIV's and not the list.

I wanted this for a (very early, lolz) birthday present for my brother. Now that his birthday is in July, I'm leaning pretty heavily on just waiting for the 3DS...

For my DS Lite, I figure I'll just make up a little brace to prop up the hinge. Slip it on the side or something.

sorry didn't mean to post a brag type post or mean to hoard! I was just on my touch and the wifi bar was getting lower and lower as I walked away from it.

Anyways the games I traded in were;
My girlfriend - TMNT / Shaun white , Race pro, Transformers 2, and Star wars clone wars

My games - Wet, Pokemon Pearl, TMNT , shaun white and race pro

It seemed like they were doing a combo of checking games and the list, i just had to give games to a lady, she checked em out, and gave me a slip for the cashier to check me out with the DS.

And lone i would never hide deals from anyone, i've rarely ignored a PM, never one about deal help, or deal information. I just do not post much as I'm rarely home to begin with.

Anyways, me and my girlfriend enjoy these things way too much. I uploaded some of the funny photos i took onto facebook, thats a cool feature. my nieces drained the rest of the battery playing with the sound recorder though.

Ugh but why were the colours so fugly. I like my old crimson red!

I hope you're ready for a long story because this is the first, and it will probably be the only time, that I bought a system the day it came out and I'm still jumping off the walls about it!

Got mine today. It was awesome!!!! I was one of 5 people there before the store opened. The first guy got there at 7 am, the next guy showed up at 8:45 and then I got there at 9:45, someone showed up at 10:15 and the last person got there at about 10:30. It was great to talk with the other people there. One guy was from RFD but the other people there had just read the ad online or in the flyer.

They were really well organized and before the store opened the manager came out and got your name and your games to check that they qualified, the first guy had to try a couple times but he was able to get it. The second guy in line got his with no problems and I didn't have any problems either. A woman with her 5 year old son and to try a couple times and the last guy to show up only had 5 games and 2 of them didn't work, more on what he did in a minute.

I traded in: Riddick PS3, COD 4 PS3, Race Pro 360, Wheelman 360 and Super Mario Galaxy PS2?

So they opened at 10:45ish which was really nice of them and I go and check out the 360 games to use the coupon for $10 off, I finally got Watchmen for a price I was happy to pay, 5 bucks. Then I go and join the lineup at Customer Service. I think I was the 4th person to get it. I choose the Bronze one and thinking that I was going to go with the Burgundy but after looking at both in person I decided that the Bronze would probably hide wear and tare a bit better. Now there was the guy who was missing two games, so he went and bought two games off the floor and traded them in all at the same time. It was pretty funny to see as the cashier had to open the games only to turn around and trade them in.

I was out of there in about 25 minutes which included the time that I spent looking at games to use the coupon on. During that time I think only 2 of the Burgundy systems sold so maybe I passed up a future rarity but I'm really happy with the one that I picked up.

Got one this morning at Kitchener BB. Thanks OP!
Was there an hour before opening, and only a few people ahead in line.
Traded these games which I already had:
Trauma Center 2 wii
Battalion wars 2 wii
Pokemon Pearl DS
Zelda Phantom Hourglass DS
Little Big Planet PS3

The first three I had originally bought some time ago for 9.99 or less.
Zelda was a gift, and I honestly hated the control scheme.
LBP I really do like, and I paid full price for it, but I figure I'll replace it with the GOTY edition when it eventually goes greatest hits.

A pretty good deal, considering I was still using my launch day DS phat

yah i was surprised at the willingness of employees to let people purchase games off the floor just for the purpose of trading in. I thought it was fairly clear that the game had to either be on the list, or have 9$ trade in value. Obviously people do not know the value of the games, but still!

very cool on Best buy's half. i guess as long as they think they will make money on the games...

Josh, sorry if my post came off as mean-spirited: after-effects of browsing RFD and seeing everyone get their multiple XL's to flip.

Sounds like the coupon was only offered at opening.

Yeah I was surprised that the whole deal was relatively painless. Maybe the CSR's didn't feel like the deal was ripping them off? BB gave them all XL's? Or maybe all the sealed/mint games made their job a lot easier.

Still not sure what BB was thinking with this deal. I highly doubt anyone is going to trade in 5 premium games and even then they can't recuperate the $40 TIV they were essentially giving. If it was to pad their used inventory then that's understandable, or maybe to hype up the system (the 3DS took some of the luster off the release maybe?)

lol @ craigslist:
I am selling a brand new, in box Nintendo DSi XL that I got from Bestbuy this morning. I will include the receipt with the console. I picked up two systems, but I only need one of them for my little brother.

This one was posted at 12:30pm.
For sale is a brand new factory sealed Nintendo DSi XL. Colour: Burgundy. Received this as a gift today but we do not need anymore game system in the household.

Another is trying to sell off extra trade fodder too.
This won't last as you are looking at about $45 saving. Price $199 at Bestbuy and all other stores.

I also have 2 used DS games for sale. They are well kept with box and manual.
Super Mario 64 DS - $30
New Super Mario Bros. - $30

I dont understand why people would flip these to begin with;
1) they are way too fun
2) tmnt/shaun white works at eb too, so they're worth 50 towards a trade 3 game
3) at least sell it for a reasonable price

I'll stick to selling games. I got a fair base of buyers here with friends and a couple cag friends, rather do that then sell nintendo products to soccer moms and their kids! :)

I thought long and hard about taking advantage, but I just don't want a DSi XL lol; a DSL or DSi is more my fancy, and potentially the 3DS in the future. Had I snagged one, I absolutely would've sold it on CAG/RFD, so it's for the best!
Looks like the Ottawa stores are now going to be part of this deal tomorrow. They have added the three locations here.

Me, I'd rather wait for the 3DS. I'd rather just buy another DS Lite someday.
ffffffffffffffffffffffff. I wish i knew that earlier. I really wanted the bigger screens, especially at the price of 5 games i could care less about.

Same here, I was really tempted by the DSiXL but I live in Toronto, so fighting off all the scum sucking RFD losers for this one deal.... eh.

I'm sure the half inch bigger screen will not be missed.

From what i was told they are probably gonna sell the sealed games as new. probably not legal....but whose gonna know.:applause:
I had a game that was below 9$ (8.50), and they accepted it, only cause it was sealed. If not, i would have straight up bought one in store and added it to my 4 games...

Hey RFDer's, don't you "LOVE" all of the personalities on RFD...
someone took the new title of RFD :booty:... all this time, and I finally realized who the other person is, that everyone is always complaining about. And now I know why! lol. Wonder if he's on CAG...:cold: edit: OMG he is! HI!
