I saw that the reprints seemed to finally filter down to Canada finally:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...ils?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1246686669&sr=8-1&seller=
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...ils?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1246686669&sr=8-2&seller=
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...ils?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1246686669&sr=8-5&seller=

Im not sure if this would be considered a big deal, but it at a good price & is readily available to canadians BRAND NEW & reasonably priced, & seeing it is being sold by Amazon, it also qualifies for free shipping.
It seems a lot of people (on CAG, at least) go nuts for these games! What's the big attraction??
They're good, really really good. Plus they're also pretty rare. Only a few get reprinted every year so people tend to jump on them as they're pretty much impossible to find otherwise.
I will never buy games on release date anymore.
All of these had extras that came with first-prints/preorders, which haven't been included with reprints. Now if you bought these for full retail and didn't get extras, then yes, I feel your pain :whistle2:#

*sobs* I payed so much for these online during the past month, ONLY because I never seem to recall Canada getting the reprints on amazon before like the states did. Pretty much didn't lose anything with DDS1, but Nocturne and DDS2 were much more expensive. FML. I haven't even opened them yet, but you people better buy them while they're so cheap!!

If I picked up Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga, would I be out of the loop at all for not playing any previous games? It seems to be a solid series and one I am not familiar with, but with guys like TronB and PuppetYuber making a big deal about their availability, I may have to jump on them. It's been a while since I've played a standard turn-based RPG!

My 2 cents, probably cheaper to get DDS1 & Nocturne from Amazon.com at 29.99$ through Goomba.

Don't encourage these prices. Our dollar is worth more than that.

Each Shin Megami Tensei have their own storyline, and are not linked at all. The only thing that is similiar is the battle system and the interface. (Similar to like Wild Arm / Suikoden Series, they are pretty much the same with different storyline)

Digital Devil Saga 1/2 = Prequel / Sequel
Noctourne = Independent
Digital Devil Summoner 1/2 = Prequel / Sequel
Persona 1/2/3/4 = Independent

I recently started playing Shin Megami Tensei series with Shin Megami Tensei - Digital Devil Summoner, because I wanted to try this game before starting Digital Devil Summoner 2, and once I started the game I couldnt put it down. The storyline and the unique battle system sucked me right into the game. This is the only reason why I looked everywhere to purchase Noctourn and Digital Devil Saga series. (Ended up paying around $70 for each Digital Devil Saga 2, and $60 for each Noctorne, and YES I DO HAVE 2 COPIES EACH LOL) Even if you are just on the edge of thinking of trying the series, I would still highly recommend you to purchase them right now. If you end up deciding not to go through them, you can easily re-sell them or trade them for a similar or higher value. If you take a look at gamers' tradelist with PS2 category in it, 8/10 people would either already have these games, or want to trade for them!

Hm... not really. With the current exchange rate, those two games would cost $69.65 CAD on Amazon.com. That combined with Goomba's $3 service fee for two games and shipping to Canada (about $5) and you're already at $77.65, compared to Amazon.ca's $79.98. You're only saving just over $2 and shipping time would be doubled.

Not to speak ill of Goomba's service, but in this case it might just make more sense to stick with a direct order.

Thanks for the tip, telepathy.

I actually was planning to fill out an order with goomba as well, then i did the math. I'm still considering doing it but since im feeling financial constraints, i might not be as in much of a hurry because we in canada are finally getting it at a reasonable price.

So tempting to buy just for two reasons:

1. You know they're going to be rare again.
2. Atlus deserves the cash for actually reprinting classic titles (unlike a certain Konami with a certain Suikoden II).

I have no monies though :( I hope some CAG's pick them up, while I haven't played the SMT games, Persona 3 is the best RPG I've played since Suikoden II (give or take an FF title in there) and I'm sure 4 is even better... so I have no doubt that the other Tensei games are fantastic.
I'm glad I bought my copies of these games at launch.
Me too. I actually had to track down the soundtrack for DDS last night because I was worried I lost it. Found it in my car in flawless condition.

Kinda late to the party on the Shin Megami Tensei series (have Persona 3 Fes and 4 just started 3 but enjoy it alot) and with buying a house within the next two months I have put the wallet away, then I see this, I really had to debate on this, going forward I have to really budget my gaming dollar, after reading your thoughts on these games I came to the conclussion that this is "Value" at $39 I piece I am getting alot of bang for my buck and these games will not be something I can pick up later like Assassins Creed 2 or Halo ODST at a more budget price

Thanks for the great input guys helped alot

Ordered
Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga
Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga 2
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

I ordered these for a friend. I actually got DDS1 and Nocturne last year of Play-Asia, and just ordered DDS2 off of GQD last week cause I couldn't wait XD

Grrr! SMT: DDS1 is now sold out :(

The other games are still in stock though.

SMT: DDS2 only has 2 copies left...

It'll probably come back in stock soon. The same thing happened with DDS2 on amazon.com. Try again tomorrow maybe?

Well that's a shame. It would've been nice to get in on this series, but goomba is still an option for those who don't mind waiting for the shipping!

This may be slightly off topic but I saw a copy of SMT: Devil Summoner 2 at EB Games with the Raiho plush for 49.99, should I get it? It's kind of pricy but it's the limited edition with full packaging.

The package in question will retain its value far better than any game you can find on other current gen consoles around the same time period; and it's cheaper and comes with a plushie. :p
