not bad. the game was 29.99 retail i beleive. ill get this when i want some old school games :p

thansk.
$39.99 at Future Shop and I assume elsewhere =/
The >$30 price tag is what made this appealing as hell in the first place.
>$30 == appealing???

Saw this the other day and I want this collection but since it's gonna be around for a while, I'll wait until it's cheap before picking up the PS3 version.
39.99? Ouch also thought it was 29.99. Good deal then, buy a 13$ item and use 10$ off.
Hi
What is the $10 off I always see people mentioning? Also, if I choose the free shipping option would I get this next week or does it take longer (never ordered from amazon before)?
Thanks

There's a coupon you can use to get $10 off purchases over $40. Only catch is you need to make a new account each time.

Ya, make your purchase at 40$ or more for free shipping, then in the coupon section close to the end of your order put in the code "MAPNEWNCSAVE" and you'll get your order for 30$ with free shipping.

Basically you can often get new 60$ games for 45$ as they tend to take off a few % from the initial price as is. (Although I've only bought one game for this much from them...I still find it pretty expensive for just a video game.)
Like, for example, right now Star ocean 4 is 53.99 at amazon.ca and if you take the 10$ off you can get it for 43.99 + tax

Arg, this is so tempting. But I already have the PS2 version of the collection that was $5 at EB-- and a whole bunch of Phantasy Star saved games.

But yeah, the $27 is worth the price of admission for these games. Even if they found their way onto a virtual console, they'd be $5 each. And you WOULD buy all the Phantasy Stars, and the first Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage 2-- AND Beyond Oasis. That's $25 right there. The rest of the games are all ok to great.

If they had just added Eternal Champions, Target Earth, Mutant League Hockey, Pit Fighter and Space Harrier II, this'd be the PERFECT collection.

Hax. I bought a PC Sega collection a few years back, and couldn't get enough Shining Force. I would've played Vectorman too if it would allow saving. I even tried Sonic R with my friends split-screen, though it was pixelated beyond belief.

And no Wii version? What, not graphically capable?

The VC is too much of a goldmine right now or something... and the graphics too.

i'll definitely be picking this up, but i might wait until it's used, figuring it'll be about $15 or so. i have a backlog of games, so i can wait, and waiting's generally what i do for the retro collections anyways.

i kinda wonder what the touched up graphics will look like in motion on an hdtv. i'm not sure what i think of the pics.

1: Sega are tards.
2: They can't force crappy filters onto the games with the Wii (fortunately they can be turned off).
3: Can't put stupid achievement bs.

Cool, thanks for all the info! I was really looking forward to this game but was disappointed when I saw it was going to be $40 in stores. Definitely getting this at amazon now. :D
so can the filters be defeated on both platforms, or is this a forced "feature"?

I HATE filtering. :headache:
Filters? Graphic filters, or content filters?

You guys do know that the filters are OFF by defult right? You have to actually turn them on in the options menu...but why would you want to?

^comes out 10th of FEB(EDIT: according to IGN) along with FEAR 2 and ski-doo skiing. .... and we all know who the real winning title is.

You, sir, have obviously never played Bullet Witch. I never thought a game could de-throne Call of Juarez-- but there she was.
Amazon is taking preorders and has a Feb 26 release date, but I'm in for one myself

Thanks OP :)
Doesn't the Amazon.ca page say:
This item will be released on February 10, 2009.
Pre-order now!

???
My bad, I was looking at my shipping estimate
You won't get it until the 26th? It takes that long to get it? Don't know if I can wait that long.
My bad, I was looking at my shipping estimate
Hrmm, mine says 17th :D I'm thinking the estimates will be longer and longer as people join the queue.
my only question is, can you actually save a game in sonic? I hated that about the originals!
In the PS2 version? No. I suppose this is one advantage a PC emulator has over a console collection: game-state saving.

$34.99 at EB. I saw a list of upcoming releases (it was on the PS3 page) and most, if not all were $69.99. Dollar is supposed to go back up at the end of the year too. :whistle2:(

Are they game-state save slots, or are they used for saving game setup data (such as the screen brightness, or the controller layout for the game)?

Since there is 3 Id assume they are for game progress, you wouldnt need 3 slots for saving game setting.

Damn, back to the days of paying $80 (after tax) for a game. Sucks :(

I actually don't even know why people care if games go up 10$. I mean do you really even spend 59.99 for a game? Why doesn't everyone just go to amazon and get new games for 43-45$ whenever they want?
