Yeah, PMing is no problem with me provided they have the flyer on 'em (I'm not going to waste time on RDF cheapasses, if it's like $5 or whatever it wouldn't matter but in a huge loss situation like Zellers, I have the customer bring everything, no print outs) and the store in question has it in stock (which really, is pretty reasonable). I have no choice but to honor it.

But in situations like where the RDF community shit storms my store and those retards grab like 20-30 games, I have the right to refuse the sale and tell them to fuck off.

Yeah RFDers are all up in arms about how one of their own couldn't get in on that deal.

And on the topic of those idiots that take advantage of the misprints and crazy deals and flip them for profit.

The amount of work it takes to actualy lurk RDF/CAG constantly to get in on the deals first, then run to the store, fight the guys to honor a mistake, grab them all, and even at like $15 apiece new games on Kijiji and Craigslist would sell for $50 ($10 below retail, or else what's the point of buying online if no discount?) so they make $35 a game, so a nice profit IF you can get your hands on a whole ton of games. So it's insecure income. And I'm guessing all this time spent posting online and meeting people to sell to means they really don't have jobs ~_~. Just my speech though, it's weird how they think quick bursts of money every once in a while means it's ok not to have a decent job.

How much autonomy does a Zellers manager have over their buying power. Not much, I'd assume-- but it'd be funny if some Zellers manager took, like, $10,000 in cash, went to Walmart, got a PM, and bought every game they have. Then, when the sale is over, he puts those games back in stock. Suddenly, he has product that has a very low initial cost, and he deprived Walmart of a whole ton of profit.

Of course what would be even funnier is if the Walmart manager also took out $10000 in cash, and while the Zellers guy was at Walmart, she was at Zellers....
 
Haha, someone on RFD PMed it at the place I work. I haven't been in the last few days due to school and never had a chance to warn my co-workers like I usually do =P Well, Sears Metrotown is a bust now (phoned in while checking my schedule and told them about it), but might as well try some other Sears. For some reason nobody's thought to try PMing at London Drugs and Superstore either.

The Superstore near me doesn't PM anything, or else I would have got on that train.

The worst part about this deal was I went shopping right beside a Zellers on Saturday morning, and was about to go to it like I usually do, but then I said to myself there was nothing there I needed.

I was so upset when I saw this as it was already too late.

All I needed was Madden 09 and Resistance 2 and my Christmas gift list would have been complete.

Might not even have mattered if you did go in. I was in 2 Zellers Saturday morning, both of them knew exactly how the sale was supposed to be run. One pointed me towards the section where they had proper signs up where the sale games were, and the other one handed me a list of what was actually on sale.
 
It never ceases to amaze me how fast the hoarders seem to ruin a good deal for everyone else. I got 2 games for myself and that was enough for me.

good for you, honestly 2 games would have been enough for me, that would have lasted me 1 year or so.

now i have to buy 2-3 (which im planning to) games for full price KNOWING that i could have paid 15 bux each... :( aw dang. i cant move on!

Man I hear ya..it irritates when I know items have been cheaper...now when I see LittleBigPlanet for $29.99 in a year or so, I'm gonna think "Man, I could've been playing this for a full year at half the price...:bomb:"

lol! funny thing is, the greatest hits games are 29.99 right now and are like 2 years old. they never go down permanently below 29.99...
but damn! now i have to pick and decide which game i really want,
which would be prince of persia and far cry 2. i beleive ill pick those up on boxing day. but damn!

Truth be told I never put in much effort. Went to FS to trade in some games and tried my luck there, the sales associate was helpful and said it was a print error on Zellers' end, so I didn't push it too much, knowing beforehand it was an obvious error. I bought a couple games when SIG had their sale, plus 4 games for the Black Friday sales in the States. I really don't have much else to spend my money on, although Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia, Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour are definitely on the list!

aw, they were having a huge game sale on blackfriday. i suppose u got good gaming deals then? mmmmm i hope they have good deals on boxing day... although something as good as 75% off will never ever come... unless zellers makes another mistake :p
 
Zellers has done half price "value games" the past few boxing weeks...as in the worst of the worst crap that didn't sell before xmas. Last year there was a deal for a couple MArio games but virtually no stock anywhere.

They didn't bring in any stock for boxing day, so if you are planning on being somewhere when they open I wouldn't recommend it being there no matter what they advertise.

The one good thing about FS/BB is they have what they say they will on boxing day.

I walked into a Zellers today (not my local zellers, but the one in the city I goto school at), expecting to see Price Error signs about the deal. No luck. I didn't even see a bin anywhere with crap games.
So I ask the guy, who looked kind of dumb, about the deal. He said it was only for 19.99 games. so I said "The flyer says it's from 19.99 games to 59.99 games". He checked for himself, and he said oh okay, and I asked him for a few games out of the case.
I got Lost Odyssey and Prince of Persia, both for $30.
My savings on the reciept totalled $90.

I feel like a RFDer but I really need to save my cash. and I've always wanted LO and PoP :D
 
Damnit, finals are really preventing me from keeping up with deals. Sad I missed out on this (like most other ridiculously good deals)

I'm so late to this party but I am still going to try this out at my local Zellers I live in a pretty small city and there is probably not a lot of RFD hoarders here.

Also why are those hoarders selling everything on craigslist if my memory serves me correctly Wal-Mart takes anything un-opened back without a recepit. The only catch is you get a Wal-Mart gift certificate instead of cash but you can buy pretty much anything at Wal-Mart so that is pretty much cash imo

Anyway glad to see some Cheap Asses made out well with this deal
 
Yes, it's actually a crime to do that. However, that won't stop RFD hoarders...that's what ruined Walmart PM the clearance price Blockbuster had on the PS3 ($299) a while back...because some tard bought like 10 of them and was trying to return them without receipt for $499 gift card.

Also I went down to my local Zellers and they have a bin for the 2 for 30 deal so no dice on cheap new releases. I thought it was stupid how the flyer says 360, PS3 and PS2 with no mention of Wii, PSP or DS titles yet there were tons of them in the bin. Just shovelwear for the most part though.

This whole thing is just sad.
The hoarders who grabbed 20+ games are bad enough but really, how brain dead of an employee do you have to be to PM something like this without so much as making a phone call to a Zellers & then to your manager? I know most people working at the stores are making min. wage which makes some of them not care about where they work but at some point in time you would think common sense would take over.
As ive tried to tell the folks on RFD (waste of my time), with this type of "scam" going on sooner or later stores are just going to stop PM's all together and that's going to screw some of us who dont have a best buy or whatever near them.

I might try to price match but I've never actually been one for price matching though

A few, but people (even seasonal) at my FS know that if there's ever a PM, you ask the department it belongs to. I guess it's the same with everyone else but we're strict to the point of firings.

I think with the number of RDFers I told to fuck right off they might have blackballed me from further of their "business".
 
Yeah, tried this today at a Wal Mart just to make sure and it seems pretty much dead. When talking to a girl there, it almost felt like the girl had been reprimanded herself for doing the PM on the first day haha.
 
I had to tell a few people I couldn't PM this deal. Some guy tried using a receipt from Wal-Mart and claimed it was their sale, and was tried to act like he had no clue about Zellers. When trying to get like 10+ games I had no sympathy for him.

oh, it's nowhere near you. so it wouldnt be worth the drive lol.

also, I just got back from the same zellers again tonight. It was a different guy but It's pretty much the same story. He said it was only 19.99 games, I told him the flyer said 59.99. he checked, and I got two more games out of the case: StarWars TFU, and Too Human. Total savings on reciept: $104 something

I then realized 10 mins later I should have got the new Spiderman game instead of Too Human, so I returned to make another purchase to get that game and something else. But the guy told me that he just got in trouble and that he can't do it again.
I felt bad, but, I walked away with 2 more great games.
I'm a poor college student.
 
I went to Zellers Kingsway (Edmonton) today, and it was just a waste of time. They had a "list" of games that worked for this promo, but I bet they only had maybe 1-2 of the 360 games in stock, and they were all awful games like Ridge Racer 7...

Sweet a Future Shop with a clue. They should pay you to go to the other Future Shops and clue them in :)! Mind you the one closest to me has gotten much much better lately. They have 2 really helpful girls working there now.
 
k i went to zeller first to pick up a flyer, went to the game department, they had notice saying " correction bla bla bla 2/30 AND REG 19 to 59.
k, so i go to staples, *( i went to 2 of thme) second one, i ALMOST got 2 games, the girl was about to do it, but the manager came in and said that they dont do zellers.

first one, the manager was really nice and explaned to me about this deal, that its not specific enough,

ok, so u guys might have not known that zellers were having a 2 for 30 bux deal in canada.
the ad was not specific at all, so people who took adventage of this (RFD anyone?) got ALL THE GAMES for 15 bux EACH. thats 60 dollar game for 15 bux. yikes right? ok so i find about this kinda late so
i stressed out. people were posting their reciepts and **** (this one guy baught 87, this other gfuy baught 127 games....WTF) and other people were getting lucky, so two nights ago, i went to zellers to get on this deal, but by then, zellers HQ made this deal DEAD! . so i went to futureshop to Price MATCH this deal, but got turned down becasue Zellers contacted them cuz ppl were pricematch like hell.

so, i gave up on it, last night tho, i read that this guy tried PMing at staples. so im lik wtf do they sell games?
they DO! . he got games for 15 bux each, but he said to hurry becasue they were going to contact HQ.

so this morning i was ganna skip school but it wasnt 100% so i decided not to. (what a bad mistake)
so when i came back, ppl were saying that staples are doing it bla bla bla and told me to hurry becasuse they told them they are contacting HQ. so, as a little happy boy i was, i called my daddy and told him about this amazing deal, and he saids he wont be home till 7!.

........ i wait wait ....... and i go, at 7.

first staples i go to shunns me down becasue HQ said not to. (HQ told them not to right b4 i went)
second staples, i almsot get it, but the manager buttes in. ullllg it was so ****ing close!!!!!!/.... sign.

this deal is over now so im pissed. :( ...yet sad.
