canadian microsoft points

if i buy microsoft points here in canada, can they be redeemed in the states?
Im asking this because id trade ms points for games on cag

MS Points are region locked, so you can only redeem Canadian Points on a Canadian account.

Yeah I had the same problem. I didn't know at first, tried to redeem it and couldn't work. Called Xbox representatives and they just ask me to get another Canadian account (you can sign up one easily) and use that account to redeem and buy games with it. You can still play your games with your US account on the same console.
