Im in a struggle to choose which psp game to get. I can only get one no more than $40.
I was looking at:
field commander ( How is the a.i? Is it equal or better than advance wars)
MegaMan power up
metal gear acid
metal gear acid 2 (how do the 3d glasses work?)
midnight club greatest hits
ridge racer
dragonball z
exit

I'd say Mega Man Powered Up (19.99 at EB/GS I think) or Metal Gear Ac!d 2 if you can find it on the cheap.

Ac!d 2 shows two of the same picture in Metal Eye mode. You then slide your PSP into a black cardboard thing and it blocks each eye from seeing what the other one sees. Your brain sees it as if the picture has depth. It's rather headache inducing.

Field Commander: Great game, lots of fun. Should be called Advance Wars PSP.
MM Powered Up: Another great one, lots of replay value. $19.99 retail now!
Metal Gear Ac!d: Fun game, not as good as part 2 though. $19.99 at TRU now.
Metal Gear Ac!d 2: Awesome game, lots of fun, 3D glasses suck though. ;)
Midnight Club Greatest Hits: $14.99 after GGC at BB. Long load times, but good gameplay. Not as good as Ridge Racer!
Riiiiiidge Racer: Really great game, worth every penny. On sale at TRU I think.
DBZ: Wouldn't know, I hate DBZ.
Exit: Lots of fun, I really like this game. Can be found cheap.

My advice is to get two of the cheaper games, like MMPU and maybe Ridge Racer. Or buy Tekken Dark Resurrection. It's fricking awesome.

My favorites would have to be Ridge Racer and Metal Gear Acid 2... though I also strongly recommend MGA 1 and MMPU. Ridge Racer lasts a LOOOOONNNG time and if you're into arcade style racing, there's really nothing better. MGA 2's 3D glasses aren't as cool as you might think... but the game itself is really fun to play. It won't appeal to everyone and it's kinda slow paced, but it's a very well designed strategy game.

Just an FYI, I had Midnight Club and really didn't like it. Burnout Legends, on the other hand, is one of the best racing games I think I've ever played.

That'd be my suggestion even though it's not on the list.

field commander ( How is the a.i? Is it equal or better than advance wars)
The A.I., I'd say, is a tad worse than Field Commander, but IMO, the game is just as good, if not better. It has some nice new additions (like an air vehicle can be on top of a land/water vehicle), online play, and terrific voiceacting for mission briefing.
MegaMan power up
Excellent game with tons of replay value
metal gear acid
Good game, but the sequel is better. It's best to get both, but if you can only get one, get the 2nd.
metal gear acid 2 (how do the 3d glasses work?)
I never tried with the 3-D glasses, but the game plays great and definitely an enjoyable strategy game.
ridge racer
IMO, the best, or 2nd best Ridge Racer ever. The game is really fun, especially if you're a fan.
dragonball z
I never played the PSP one, but if the game is what I think it is (similar to Budokai series, with with an arcade/story mode), the game would be awesome.
I have not played it, but heard good about it. I want it too, since it's cheap.

My order would be (from what I played):
Mega Man Powered Up
Ridge Racer
Metal Gear Acid 2
Field Commander
Metal Gear Acid
Or buy Tekken Dark Resurrection. It's fricking awesome.
I couldn't agree more. Tekken DR is definitely my 2nd favorite PSP game right now. IMO, although I've been a huge Tekken fan for a while, I'm seriously about to say Tekken DS is my favorite Tekken ever, due to the gameplay from Tekken 5 remaining intact (my favorite Tekken gameplay), the gameplay modes are the best I've seen, and the selection of fighters is awesome. The only thing I hate about Tekken DR is, it's making me put off my other PSP games, since I always want to play it.

Ridge Racer is a classic and a must for every PSP owner.

Field Commander was alot of fun. I picked it up in a trade and played through it over a 2 week period. The online is cool, but I just don't play the psp online personally. That being said after I played through and had my fun I ended up selling it.

2 games not on your list and easily my favorites Pinball HOF and Lumines. Both can be found for under $20. Pinball has tons of tables and is great to sit down and play for short periods of time.

Hmm, maybe I should try Pinball Hall of Fame, since I like Pinball. I rather play the game on PSP, then a console (Pinball games don't seem right for consoles IMO).

Ridge Racer will last you a long time, and IMO, is the second best racer on the PSP after Burnout Legends.

I'm not too far into Exit yet, but I can tell you that it's well worth the $19.99 it's currently going for. As a bonus, you can download an extra 100+ levels, giving you over 200 to play.

You should be able to get both these games for $40 total, and you'll be playing them for a long, long time.

I'm a huge fan of Exit. It's really a brilliant puzzle game and the bonus levels make it a huge value, especially now at $19.99. If you like puzzle games at all, pick it up.

I think Field Commander is a good game, but it's too hard for me to really understand. I guess these strategy games aren't really my thing.

Forgot to list the games I have now.
Tekken
Valkyrie Profile
Megaman hunter X
street fighter alpha 3 (Can you say "hand cramp" after a couple of matches)

I do appreciate all the replies. If anyone has anything else to suggest I havent gotten any new games yet probably will pick it up on this friday.

Lots of choices out there right now with the Greatest Hits titles and also the TRU sale for $19.99 each. Get 2 for the price of one, that is what I have been doing.

How does burnout legends compare to burnout revenge. I absolutely love the one for the 360 because it has so many crash modes and stuff. How does this compare content wise? Are there more or less races on the PSP version vs. the 360 version?

I absolutely loved both Metal Gear Acid games, but as others have said, if you can only get one, buy the second. Other than those two my other favorites are Hot Shots Golf Open Tee (easily worth the $20), Lumines (must own for any puzzle/music game fan), and while a bit more expensive, Daxter and Tekken: DR are simply amazing. Tekken: DR is the first fighter I've bought since SFA3 on the PS1 and I think it's incredible.

Megaman PU - Yes for replay
Metal Gear ACid 2 - Yes for gameplay, no for glasses
Valkyrie Profile - Yes for port RPGness
SFA3 - Yes for awesomeness(Graphics are smooth since it's on a small screen, doesn't look pixelated like on PS2 versions)
Tekken - Yes for Super fun..ness

Thos are my reccomendations

You should have just done a poll

Personally, I'd suggest Valkyrie Profile or Field Commander, both are very excellent games. Field Commander has damn near infite replayability though due to customizable and/or downloadable missions.

Actually the DBZ game is pretty fun and its easy to pickup and play. If your a big DBZ fan I'd reccommend it if Tekken werent already out I'd reccommend it as just a damn good 3D fighter but Tekken beats it by a mile as far as fun 3d fighters go. Its still well worth the purchase though, most fighting game to me are since their easy to pick up and play for a few minutes then put down great for portable gaming.
