Can't you mail a letter through Paypal?

So I have a letter I need to send with delivery confirmation and I'd like to use Paypal (because DC is free and because I have no stamps and was literally JUST at the post office).

I thought this was possible, but I can't find a way to set up shipping. USPS.com seems to not let you send letter or even first class. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

1) You can't do first class through usps.com

2) A package has to be 3/4" thick to have DC on it so a letter doesn't qualify. You need to use a different service for a letter like returned receipt or maybe send it Priority (or I guess put the letter in a padded mailer bulked out to 3/4") and then you can use DC.

I send my pricegrabber rebates with DC through Paypal. Technically, DC requires envelopes to be something like .5 - .75 inch thick but I don't think that always flies (there's always an exception). In the past, I've sent just one rebate this way and the envelope wasn't thick at all and the it eventually reached its destination.

Pretty sure if PP won't let you and you don't have a stamp, you'll have to go to the PO. Other than a stamp, the only postage you can get printed for it is the automated postage machines they have at the PO.

using a bubble mailer will add too much weight. just place a couple of shipping peanuts inside the envelope to get it thick enough for delivery confirmation requirements.

Actually a small bubble mailer won't add to the weight. As long as the letter itself is not really heavy, it shouldn't be an issue. I send Nintendo DS and Gameboy Advance games (cartridge only) with cardboard/letter and bubble mailer and it still is less than one ounce. Keep in mind though that the money you save for delivery confirmation is somewhat negated by the fact that Paypal will charge you more than $0.41 that it normally costs to send a letter. I still do it, because it's handy but keep in mind you won't actually save much. My two cents :)

Winner. Send it Certified Mail - it's all of two bucks or something, and requires a signature instead of giving you confirmation it was delivered (which doesn't mean they got it, it just means it was delivered).
