alright heres the situation...2000 ford explorer edie bauer model, just got it and since its my first open back car i wanna throw in some subs in the back. i was thinking about getting 2 12" Kicker L5's since they are relativelt cheap on ebay...but i need to find a good amp to power them tho. still need to do more research on what kind of amp to buy and how much wattage i need since i dont want to max each sub out. basically what im looking for is advice on good quality subs that hit hard and produce clean sharp bass...that wont drain my pockets, also any advice on amps would be nice...i have around $450 to spend and my buddy is going to install them for me untill i have enough money to get dynamat installed where ill get them installed professionaly

No. No. Buy a Planet Audio class-D amp, very very good for the money. I have a P1250D running 2 JL Audio 12W6s.

Pick up some Adire Audio or Ascendant Audio subs. Definitely better than Kicker.

Adire and Ascendant? Never heard of them so that must mean they're crap, right? Just kidding, you know someone always has to say it. I'd recommend Elemental Designs (http://www.edesignaudio.com/us.php), along with them. Save 15% when you buy a sub and amp together. They also offer sound deadener that is exactly the same as dynamat, but with out the expensive blue dynamat logo on it (that's what you're paying for) that starts at $1 sq. ft. If I were building a system from scratch I'd buy everything - components, amps, subs - from them. I've also got to recommend Image Dynamic subs. I love 'em, that's what I have now, and I've had them in the past.

im nervous buying none name brand stuff...i was looking at 2 12" l7's and two 800RMS audiobahn amps..i can get both amps on ebay for about $250....but what about this sound dampner stuff, where is the best place to get it...at that place above...you need to get an ad on which moves it up to $3 per square foot...but i dunno how much that would be for my trunk and the back doors?

I used to have an Audiobahn amp for a single 10". I liked it, sounded good. My fav amp has been my old school RF amp, the 250.2 You might want to get the stuff in before you go installing the dampening material, you may not need as much as you think. You could also go to you local stereo shop (not a large corp. one) and have them listen to it and suggest what you might need to do. This should be about the time of the year they will be closing out the 2005 stuff so you might get a good deal.
