Case Mods? (allowed to discuss?)

I was basically just curious about the replacement cases that I see for sale online. I am eyeing that green case that looks like the LE Halo Xbox or the crystal clear case, but wanted to know if anyone had experience with them. Also, I was wondering if anyone had managed to find a way to make the 360 quieter with fan swaps, though it seems that the majority of the noise comes from the DVD drive itself. Thanks for any advice, sorry if this isn't kosher.

I don't see why this wouldn't be allowed. Geez, these days, anything short of direct links to porn seems to be tolerated. Not as if you're asking for mod chip suggestions or places to download pirated games.

the cases at decal girl are interesting to me. especially the black one.
i will probably be ordering a pair of the black controller cases after xmas.

anyone got links? ive been interested in doing the light (lights up the buttons) and case mods on my controller, i would definatly wait until my warranty is up before i messed with my xbox though, where are you guys looking at the controller mod things?

Its not that strange of a question. If you frequent the OT forums here, you know just about anything goes, but I've been to other forums where you get banned for even using the word mod pertaining to consoles. Even just case mods. Why mod your case if you aren't going to do something illegal? *ominous music*

Some places just have zero tollerance.

Those look pretty nice, but the risk of gutting my console (and voiding any chance of it ever getting fixed if it breaks) to do it doesn't seem worth it.

Plus, my friend drew me a SUPER sweet Master Chief faceplate... used the cover of the halo graphic novel for inspiration.

so for 30$ you can get the wireless controller case with the lights in it? how does that work? i am eying the black with red lights controller, and the case mods look awesome but not for a while since my warranty is still vailid

Would he consider making one for me? If so, how much would he want for it?

Maybe. I will talk to her about it.

i would assume it comes with instructions and you probably have to solder 2 connections, the power for the led's.

and i didnt see a black one. there is a chrome one with red lights. the shot is taken in a dark room to show off the lights.

The easiest way of making your 360 quieter would be to remove any disc from the drive. Of course, if you're playing a game or watching a movie...

Wha?
i went to http://www.foundmy.com and purchased the Chameleon xbox case, and the black casing for a controller. received it in about 6 days, and it's fairly simple. there's no instructions, but online i found these

to disassemble your 360

http://www.xbox-modchips.com/xbox360-tutorials/xbox-360-opening-guide.htm

Your wireless controller mod instructions

http://www.xbox-modchips.com/xbox360-tutorials/xcm-wireless-case-mod-guide.htm

for the controller it's 3 wires to solder, fairly simple.

any questions hit me up and i'll do my best to help :bouncy:
Can you take some pics of your controller with the lights on? thank, i am really thinking about getting the smooth black, but im not sure... also can you use the normal Center X button (menu button) ?
here are a few pix of my controller and case

damn that fucking bad ass, except i would get red... How does everything work? the same as it did when it was normal? or does it have an cheasy off brand feel? also does a rechargeable battery pack still work?

in reference to the com button in the middle, you can put the stock one into the mod case, but you'd have to take out the circuit board that's on the modded case, then pop it out and replace. i tried it, but i like the smooth black look so i switched back.

the buttons, controls, everything feels the exact same. i actually prefer this one since it has a more textured feel, unlike the regular one that felt too smooth. i do see a little bit of a drain, but i can get about 20 hrs of play with it, vs 24 hrs. with the rechargeable pack, you CAN get it to work, but you'd have to take the battery pack they include, and cut it up then superglue. i have some energizer rechargeable batteries, and they work better than the rechargeable pack.
and the con button still have the 4 lights around it that flash messages (low battery, player online, ect)?
yea the only difference is on the stock controller shows only green that it's indicating, with the others being dark. if you pop in the com button into the mod, it'll be green indicator and the inactive quatrants will be blue.

what are the colors if you leave it how it comes?

it's the same, but the middle where the X is will blue a clearish blue.
You have the fan stand and the intercooler?

Does your case have the chameleon lights?
yea i have the chameleon

yea im paranoid about the whole overheating issue lol i'll include a few more pix, i took out the stock 360 fan and put in the talismoon one, it runs a lil more quiet, plus the glowing green is nice. also i took the intercooler, and cut it right above the plug, then got a 12V 500 mAh power supply.

im gonna go to youtube and put up a vid of the chameleon changing colors.

man thats a tight setup, i would just do everything in red on mine, i dont know why but i like the black light coming from red for some reason, your setup loos very nice

Does anyone know of a good paint to use on controllers that is heavily resistant to wear? Some kind of specialty spray paint for plastic or something?

We have a fucking sticky telling you how to get half-priced marketplace content; of course you're allowed to discuss case mods.
Where can you buy the normal white faceplates?
They don't sell them. You can buy them in Silver. I forgot who had them on clearance a little while ago, I think maybe Gamerush for like $7 or something like that.

the normal white faceplate, you mean the one that came with the 360? if u need one i can sell you mine for $15 with USPS shipping, you can pay by paypal, i have no need for it

i recently added the twilight clear tunnel flow, the XCM DVD drive cover, and the 360 fader.

Hmmmmm. I would do the case in a heartbeat but I have the 2 yr warrenty on my 360. I just may get the black controller kit though. Hey Abizolaki where did you buy it from?
Is the controller mod worth it? Like it is really badass?
My KillBill controller is totally fucking tits.

lol i dunno about badass, but im picky as shit with my stuff, and i use the black controller as mine, with the regular one is for whoever is play'n with me. i think it's nice, when i play at night, i can see the buttons if i get a brain fart and cant remember where the button is located. plus it gets comments when ppl come over :bouncy:

When you order the Xbox Controller shell with LED's everything is good to go? SO no like putting the LED's inside the buttons and shit? I'm guessing you do get button included.
