Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow stuck weapon glitch?

Im about 60% through the game and all of a sudden I keep getting this glitch with my weapon that forces me to turn off and start from previous save. I got to swing my weapon he just keeps swinging. The bad guys freeze in place and he wont stop swinging. I've tried changing weapons when this happens to but he just keeps swinging with the new weapon. I can't move my character nor can I use any powers or anything. It's really frustrating and seems to happen at random. Am I hooped? Has anyone else seen this? Is there something Im doing wrong?

You're not getting stabbed in the head by imps that are "freezing in place," are you? If that's the case, just mash the buttons and D-pad to get free.

Ironicly Im playing that as well except Im maybe at 50 percent into it. Cool game. Not sure what to tell you lol

@squee are the imps the little flying shits? if so that could be it.

EDIT: I dont take any damage though

The imps don't deal damage, they just make you swing your weapon over and over. Button mash to escape, or kill them before they get too close and you will be fine. It's not a glitch.

I can't see how I would have ever figured that out. I'll have to remember that for when I pick up that game again.

Picked this game up tonight off of ebay for $17 new, bought time I got it!

I think most people who play fighting games would instinctively try to button mash out of the imp attack.
