[Castlevania] If I like Dawn of Sorrow(DS) I'll like the GBA Double Pack, right?

That makes me sad, you have lots of games to play and no time, I have no games to play and all the time in the world, wanna trade lives? And Strell, thanks I'll get that, hopefully they will have it in stock...wait a minute. I dont have a Toys R Us, the nearest is in San Antonio >_>

I used to have that life, it was the pre-full-time-employment years up until 2004. :D
It's sad, yes, but some of us prefer easier games that we can just play through. With the small amount of gaming time I have coupled with the large number of games I have to play, it's more enjoyable to just be able to blow through a game.

Not that a challenge isn't nice sometimes.
Exactly. Plus I just hate bosses in general and perfer games that lack bosses all together, or don't have many.

Though I don't have a large amount of games to play like you. I buy probably 10 or less a year, due to not having much time, and having a lot less interest in gaming than I did in the past during the 2D heyday.

I don't have the most free time in the world, but when I'm able to blow through a game in 10 seconds I sort of feel cheated. It's not about time spent, it's about the difficulty curve. The best games are ones that always ride the crest of difficulty, so things are always pushing your sharpest skills and all your progress through the game gives you the feeling of accomplishment. If a game is way too easy I never get that satisfaction, which kills the point of playing games in the first place.

I suppose games that are more about storytelling or atmosphere are exempt from this, but I'm talking about 2-D platforming here.

Well, Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness are not like Metroid at all. All the 2D ones since 1997 have been.

That's because they suck.

Now, now. They're not THAT bad. I enjoyed them. Of course they don't compare to the likes of SotN or DoS, but I thought they were fun. Especially Lament.

Lament was okay, combos were good, level design was bleh. Castlevania Chronicles came out in 2001 and was nothing like SotN.

That varies by what your reason for playing games are. I never really played to challenge myself, or get a sense of accomplishment. I get that everyday in my studies and my research work.

For games, I just like to play stuff most of the time that offers a world I can explore and play around in without getting frustrated to take a break from reality for a bit. These metroidvania games fit that bill as there's a lot to explore and do, but even the hardest one (CotM) wasn't frustrating if you take your time, explore and level up a lot.

I mainly can't stand bosses like the ones in the Metroid Prime games where there's nothing you can do but play them over and over until you get the patterns down or just get lucky as you can't really level up much or whatever to make it easier.

Alright, about this double pack. Its the exact same thing if I went and bought the games seperate right? No GH, No less content, No "OMG Giant label like GH that says 'This is from the Double Pack'"?

Both games are on one cartridge, and both the label art and the box art are hideous. Yes, the box art does indeed have "Double Pack" splattered all over it.

But all will be forgotten when you start playing the games. Especially Aria. And these games are pretty hard to find in their original forms anyway, so I highly suggest you stick with the combo cart.
