Castlevania X Chronicles for PSP!!!!!
Look back. This time it started innocently enough, no insults or anything. I guess it was my fault but I didnt insult the PSP or anything, just said that this is awsome news but not sure if im ready to get a PSP or not yet. It just spiraled after that post.
I hope you guys aren't thinking that I was attacking the DS. I actually like the system but not nearly as much as my PSP. Honesly I use it more for a GB player (have about 10 GB games as opposed to 4 DS) but I do like some of the games. Who knows, I might get on a DS kick later this year when Zelda comes out and start favoring that system for a while. Either way, I have no ill feelings towards any game system (even the 3DO) since I'm a multi console owner.

Either way, I'm psyched for this game especially after seeing the video.
1UP's got a release date: http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3156895

9/15/07
Shit I was hoping for some time over the summer to pretty much guarantee Konami pumping out another DS Castlevania: Something of Something else for Christmas. Since this is in September though, I can see Konami putting this up as their yearly Castlevania entry where as if it was Summer I think more people would be ready to bite the bullet on two Castlevania games in a year. I also sort of hoped it would be 80% done and a surprise Q2 game for the PSP. Ah well, September is better then December I suppose (and better then never certainly). September 15th can't get here fast enough.

Any speculation if we'll see some wacky extra content too? Maybe a few new unlockable characters?
This is great news and it might be the system seller the psp needs....that is if everone doesn't f'ing pirate it. Support IGA!! Buy this game
1) The PSP has at least a dozen system sellers. But a 200plus price tag still makes the portable console a luxury item.
2) Oh of courses it's going to get pirated. Everything does. The PSP = Dreamcast.

What about those of us with Custom Firmware? I thought I read somewhere that moving from custom firmware to Sony's firmware may brick your PSP.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but if the firmware isn't decrypted that the game runs on you won't be able to load it with any utilties right?

I reckon Castlevania's future rides on this. If it does well the higher ups may allow Iga to produce a 2D console game.

You can go to normal firmware just fine.
However, the 3.03 downgrader does leave some files in the flash, so you may want to wait for a cleaner before abandoning it.

I am excited about this news

I'm a huge fan of Castlevania ever since I was a wee lad playing Castlevania 3 on my nes.

I was going to get the port for the 360 but since this is coming out there is no need.

Oh this is so mine. Now someone needs to release a downgrader for the psp 3.03 that works without grandtheftauto
I hope this is great so we can stop hearing all the haters talk about how the PSP doesn't have any good games.
Might not want to hold your breath. However much we gaming nerds see this as neat, a port of an obscure 14-year-old japan-only game isn't likely to get PSPs to start selling like hotcakes, and a graphics-but-not-gameplay upgrade isn't likely to win any Game of the Year awards, either. I'm glad I can finally play Rondo all the way through, but it's not exactly the second coming of Christ.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but if they haven't stopped saying that yet, then nothing will stop them. I'm still trying to figure out just what needs to come out on the PSP for people to decide it's a good system. If one is wary of the $200 pricepoint, I totally understand and won't argue. If they want to claim that the games are too expensive up front, I won't argue that either.

When they claim that there are no good games for it, I simply refuse to argue at that point. They're just obtusely set in their ways, that the PSP is a garbage system with garbage games. If you own a PSP, you know it has amazing platformers, RPGs, action titles, sports titles, puzzle games...you name it. It could always use *more* of each genre, but what console couldn't?

Too true. Mega Man Powered Up flopped on the system despite being a great remake of the game. Plus even though it'll look great, the PSP has been pushed as a 3D experience. It'll sell well (hopefully) but it won't drive a whole lot of new blood to the PSP since 2D platform gamers should already be on board. If they're not, well, they're poopie heads.

It's funny. Every system out there has great games for it but the PSP gets most of the hating. I'm not calling this the second coming of Christ but it's nice that we're getting a game like this.

Are you some kind of dumbass? It's made by Sony, so it sucks.

(yes, sarcasm.)

I just read about this, it's awesome that we're finally getting this game! Only problem is that there isn't any other PSP game that I want to play and I don't want to spend more than $200 to buy the system just so I can play this one game

i dont know if this was posted already (cuz i didnt want to read all 7 pages)... but the new March EGM has a hands-on preview of it and it says the release date is October 2007 so it is in fact coming to the states...

gawd i wish i had a psp, i would buy one just for this game...

It just dawned on me that this would probably look better and more faithful to the series if it was cel-shaded. Ah well, still looks nice.
