Cell phone deals and service providers?

Any winning deals on cell phones or service packages? And is it really worth it to go for a year or two year contract over prepaid or pay as you go services?

I'm looking at Cingular stuff currently.

for me alltell seems to be the cheapest aroudn here... probly the best family plan imo.
