Challenging RPG's out there?

Disgaea is really so much hard as it is intimidatingly deep. I seriously don't know what i've gotten my self into. It's possible to spend hundreds of hours in the Item World by it self, not including the rest of the game. It's possible to level up to lvl. 9999, so maxing out isn't really an option here.

I beat Persona 2 last night to show my friend the ending, It took me about 30 - 45 minutes to beat the last boss. He's pretty hard, but I think it's just the insane amonut of life he has, plus he has a defense to just about everything. He doesn't have a weakness, and he does some nasty attacks to hit all your party members. You gotta heal all the time. But yu feel good when you finally do beat him.
Heh...I remember Phantasy Star 3. That's the only PS game I've ever played. It was pretty hard.
That game wasn't that hard.

Now Phantasy Star 2 was much harder. Twenty level towers and dungeons, OMG!

Phantasy Star 2 was definately the hardest out of the 3 of them. This whole thread makes memories of rpgs come flooding back to me, ive played lots of them mentioned in here. Including Beyond the Beyond, got it after FF7 and boy was that a dissapointment. As for a hard game, most rpgs are fairly easy but have sidequests that are the real challenges. Chrono Trigger, FF3, and Secret of Mana are pretty much my all time favorites, they are all fairly challenging.

I would say Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1) is challenging. I've went through it 5 or 6 times, and It is still pretty hard. That game stays on my list for one of the best games ever.

eh, Chrono Trigger wasn't really that hard. Only the Golem Twins gave me any trouble my first play through.
