CAGiversary!
Champions of Norrath - Anyone else have problems?

Anyone else experience fluxuation in sound levels....
skipping and off-sync voice/text....
one or two complete game freezes... in-action or mid-load?

anyone?
or is it just me?

please help me out here.

I had a buddy that just gave up on the game around the 90% point because he couldn't deal with the glitches anymore. Bad show on Sony's part, letting this get through for general release.

Those problems are much more prevalent with older model PS2s, since CoN is on a DVD9. I've had freezes, slow texture-fill, lovely sound glitches, and many more over the course of the time I've had CoN (from launch) -- on my launch model PS2. HDLoader solved those problems, though I can't play on the lame online service.

Hey WildWop, just out of curiousity, did you get HDLoader to work with an original CON disc? I thought HDLoader was incompatible with DVD9...

I have had my PS2 since launch day and I have only had one or two problems with the game - nothing severe enough to make me stop playing. I think it froze once and it has had problems with slow texture fill three or four times.

Well I would like to say that all of the listed problems are tru...
-sound fluctuation
-laging dialogue

...its tru yes but still a decent game, I PAID 29.99 for it

ANYONE WANNA PLAY ONLINE????
Ive been waiting forever to try out the online stuff

Are you saying the online service is lame because you can't play it? 'Cause I think the online part of the game is awesome.

Yes, it's an original disc. Mode 3 needs to be active to play.

CoN probably has the most drastic improvement in load times across all the games I've installed thus far.

I've been playing the game four about 10 hours, and I haven't had any major issues thus far except for the random frame rate drops that seem to happen for no reason, and the maps not loading all the way (You see the enviroment trying to render) othen than, haven't had any major issues. I play Online every once in a while, good fun.

wow.. thanks for making me feel unalone...
umm..
as for me being online...
sorry... not yet...
at least not till we finish the game with a maxed out character.

It froze on me just once during a load (from level to level). I just ejected the disc and put it back in and the load continued fine. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I read in a mag that to fix some of these problems, you should pick up every item that is dropped, even if you just sell it, cuz the game leaves them there forever, and eventually they just bog down the system resources trying to keep track of it all. a lot of people are reporting problems, and this seems to really help from what I hear

Things I've seen in this game.

- Warped to store/town hanging off the map in an area where there was nothing but blue screen. Kelethin area.
- Random lock up and freezes. More times than I can possibly count. I experience them like every 4 hours of gameplay.
- Games online where after a load screen all players drop except me. I host a lot.
- Using the wizard, launching cold spells until your magic is empty will lock up the game sometimes. You get frustrated and think you need to reset and it starts up again.
- Horrible draw in/frame rate issues.
- Hosting a game, launching it, having someone join during the "Notifying all players." message and then having them slow the join in process and they can't join the game anyways and you're forced to drop a player that never "joined" to begin with.
- BSOD's.

The one thing I can say about this game is that despite all of its glitchy nature which is completely unforgivable and inexcusable in a SOE, let alone Everquest franchise, game I have NEVER lost anything to a glitch. This is in sharp contrast to my PSO days where any of these things could cause a player to lose something to everything including their character. That's the only thing that keeps me going.

My PS2 is a 39001. It was the version that came out immediately before the 50000 which is the P-SCAN DVD playback and IR built in model.
