Chappelle's Show is dead

Good while it lasted, but it got way too popular way too fast. Every idiot I knew was saying "Rick James bitch" but had never heard any of Chappelle's stand up.

I remember reading about this as well. I concur that it's not exactly terrible, primarily because I'm sure they've used up all of their good material.

I heard about this but I wasn't sure if it was official or not..

Oh well. Thank god I won't have to hear people repeating some catch phrase, though.

Yea. If I hear one more person recite a Rick James or Lil Jon skit...I'll blow their head off with a shotgun.

Good while it was lasted I guess...

the show was OKAY at best i thought, there were one or 2 episodes that were hilarious, and the rest just seemed to coast on thru..no more rick james ;P!!

Well, at least Dave and company went out on top. Plus, the door is always open if Dave wants to come back.

How long until Comedy Central keeps milking the cow and puts out "Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes," comprised of the sketches that they did film and finish for Season 3?

I'll buy it!

A nice little era in TV history, like the Tom Green era, or the Jackass era. Very distinct shows for the time, very popular, and all ended fairly quickly.

You know, I really like Dave Chappelle's sense of humor but I think he has some real life problems that aren't highly publicized. Good for him that they aren't but it sucks for fans that he isn't a very dedicated actor/ entertainment figure.

I'm Rich James, Bitch!

BTW who is Chopelle?

The biggest contract in TV history doesn't just walk out the door like that. Wait a while, and I'm sure we'll hear much better news regarding the subject.

Its a pretty good source. I mean, Charlie Murphy! He was Tyree. "You sit down when you pee! I don't ever wanna see you peeing standing up!"

Nobody read the actual article that ran in TV Guide, did they?

The article that was printed was much different than the link in the first post; they didn't run the interview, but used it as a basis for a shorter story. Chapelle himself has said nothing about the show's fate, and the Comedy Central spokesman said that the network hadn't heard anything either (for what that's worth).

I don't think we can consider this a definitive anything at this point.

Good while it last and at least they went out while they were on top. The show started to become a little excessive though and too many people reciting phrases. My favorite scetches weren't even the ones that people were all over (i.e. Rick James, Lil Jon, etc.). I loved the PopCopy skit as well as the black man disguised as a KKK skit. But I truly doubt that this show is over. The contract he had was huge and as Walrus said, Chapelle hasn't said anything (which is the most important, especially with his contract and all that money), and Comedy Central hasn't said anything either really.

his stand up was shite

How jacked up of a person are you to not to be able to finish doing a tv show. It was all over creative differences. $50 million and a huge cut from the dvd's. I think chappelle got bigger then he ever though it would and just freaked out. He was afraid of failure. However a $50 million dollar contract does not just go away. I say if Dave does not want to finish them he and comedy central will be in court. I will miss the show, but I have no idea why anyone felt the need to yell "I'm rick james bitch" Yea it was funny the 1st few times now it is annoying as hell so stop it. it's over it fucking done quit fucking telling people you are "rick james bitch" I will grab a shotgun as well if I hear it again.

Oh well. Chappelle is just a bigger dick in my opinion for doing this. I'll be sure NOT to watch anything he is ever in. He fucked over Comedy Central. fuck you Chappelle.

True, I remember Tom Green being funny as hell for it's time but I never really got into Jackass. One of the funnier skits of Tom Green was when he was interviewing people with dog crap at the end of the microphone.

I miss Chappelle show, the Tom Green Show (and his late night talk show), and jackass, however Stanker Vision on MT2 is quite funny.

That might be a bit harsh, but yeah, the show was way better than the stand-up.

And I'm eager to buy the 8 eps on DVD. Come on, Comedy Central!

Personally, I'm sad to see the show end, but you guys are right -- the whole Rick James/Li’l Jon thing was wearing thin. I saw Chappelle do stand-up last April on a college campus, and he could hardly do a bit without some douchebag frat boy screaming "Yeeeaaaaaah!!!” You could tell Dave was frustrated. He even threatened to walk if folks didn’t shut the hell up. It got to the point that the major skits overpowered the show, which in turn overpowered Chappelle. Perhaps something will come together in the future, but until then this is just one less enjoyable show on television.

Personally, the sketch that I thought was his funniest still hasn't been mentioned. The Samuel Jackson beer commercial. fucking hilarous! The Rick James ones really weren't that funny. The Lil' Jon ones were, especially when he actually had Lil' Jon on but Rick James=boring.

Other than that, the show was HIGHLY overrated. I mean there were some episodes were I barely laughed at all. In fact, the first time I saw it my roommate had to reassure me that there were better episodes.

Sadly, I heard my own mother say that quote when she was talking on the phone with a freinds.

*shutters*

And then jerking off to it?

Sorry to hear this from Darkness. However, I can respect why Dave isn't running back to it. He's doing Stand up in L.A.--- and is working on a healthy World of Warcraft addiction.

It was mine also, along with the Wayne Brady skit. 'So I make Bryant Gumbel look like Malcom X, huh, motherfucker?'

At a recent car show, I saw a muslce car with the vinyl decal "I'm Rick James, Bitch" on the front & back windshields.

This was a redneck, and he will shoot you with his shotgun first. I repeat, this was a redneck.
