Cheap anime and game soundtracks
they're also bootlegs.
*looks at your sig* >.> Well, no worse then downloading! ^^

Actually it is worse than downloading because people often buy these bootlegs and are unaware they are not originals.

At least with downloading the bootleggers aren't making money. The less money they make, the less bootleggers there are, and that would be good for everyone (except the bootleggers, but fuck them.)

I've seen national chain stores selling these so-called "bootlegs". Personally, they look like the real thing to me and I'm not going to pay $30+ for a cd, soo....

Yey! Someone's with me! Mine came in today and even though I know they aren't the Japanese version they are pretty nice and definitely worth the price. These CDs are for people who want a CD (not just a download) but are too poor to pay $30. I just happen to be one of those people. ^_^

Congratulations. You have just purchased an illegal bootleg, which is essentially having someone burn the music on a CD in a compressed format and then sticking some sloppy art onto the cover and putting it all in a case. Glad you can be proud of your bootleg collection.

Really, you'd be much better off burning the CD yourself and buying some generic CD labelmaker than paying someone to do it for you.

Actually most anime and game soundtrack bootlegs are fairly high quality reproductions. They're factory pressed, often with almost identitical packaging.

They're bootlegs. Illegal reproductions. I don't know why you quoted this unless you're just against slang?

That's fine for you, but this site is dedicated to buying things legally. It's the same reason why we don't discuss deals for bootleg video games.

Oh please. If you've ever listened to Final Fantasy VIII: Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec CD versus the cheap $3 bootleg on eBay, you can tell how much better the original version sounds. Not to mention how sloppy the packaging is.

Basically, these bootleg CDs are mass produced CDs from Taiwan and China where the lack of copyright reinforcement allows these bootleggers to produce and sell these CDs (sort of legally) within their own territory. If you've been to Taiwan, you'd know what I mean. Books, CDs, etc are mass produced and bear the name of the bootleg companies (but usually not the name of the original publisher).

If I want to buy an anime/game soundtrack, I would go buy a domestic version if one is available (such as from Geneon). Otherwise, I would go import it directly by shopping at such retailers as cdjapan.co.jp or yesasia.com.

I imported the Final Fantasy XII OST limited edition and Xenosaga III soundtrack (first press with memory card holder). For crying out loud, they cost nearly as such as the corresponding domestic game itself.

I'm going to a local store here at end of october, they are having a sweet sale on anime and game soundtracks. 3 for $10 and they are all legit. They even have some imported japaneese ones. http://www.tatescomics.com/ if anyone wants to see store - Sorry Florida only.

Store is soon to be 6,000 square feet which is insane for an anime store. Will be my first time going but a good portion of my friends live there. I'll post a nice list of my LEGIT purchases in a month.
