An interesting note brought up in the thread is that you can also order titles if in store if you can't find them there. The sale price doesn't show until the cashier rings up the deal.

Some good deals in there. I know the FYE in Burlington, VT has a very extensive anime (and manga) collection, but my local FYE (Danvers) doesn't have much to my knowledge. Nice post, thanks.
 
Anime on DVD gave it C's.

But I'm thinking about Steel Angel. That got A's.

I'm pretty tapped out. But supposedly this sale is for most ADV titles and will last until 3/16. ZIF stock remains I might get some stuff in march.

Get Gunsmith Cats and Cutey Honey for $7 each. They're classics. And with Cutey Honey you get several hours.

Also, don't be snookered by this sale. A lot of these ADV titles can be had for the same price or cheaper on Ebay. And I'm not talking about HK imports. ADV dropped their wholesale prices like a stone. So if you see something you want check Ebay first.
 
If your local FYE doesn't have the titles you're looking for, ask them to order them for you. That's what I had done this evening.

Oh, and it seems that Slayers Excellent is $7.99. I just realized this after I got home, and saw that they ordered me the wrong Slayers DVD. I'll have to go back in tomorrow. Yarr!

Soul Hunter is great. I bought it for $25 at best buy last summer and was pleasantly surprised. After watching, I would have been happy having spent twice that much. Highly recommended. Kurumi is also pretty good at that price. The last 12 episodes are worthless but the first 28 are entertaining.

Thanks, I'll probably pick it up tomorrow. But I've been reading some reviews about it, and a few of them say that the show is aimed at kids. So I'm guessing theirs no violence or anything. Any truth behind it?
 
You may get that impression at first, it does have some goofy comedy, but it gets pretty mature about half way in. Plenty of violence, some historical basis, and mature themes (not in the dirty way). Similar in tone to say...Trigun. Enjoy!
 
Just got back from FYE, some interesting notes. They had Nurse Witch Komugi Vol. 1 for $9.99 and the Rahxephon movie alone for $9.99 as well. There were 2 Aquarian Age boxes but were marked at regular price, not the sale. They'll probably ring up at the sale price but I wasn't interested in it in the first place so I didn't bother checking up on it.
A lot of titles were not there in the first place but I think I'll see if I can order some titles at my other FYE the next time I'm there. I also wanna check out the Soul Hunter collection among other titles.
 
Nadesico is very good, so anyone who doesn't have it should pick it up for 6.99, It includes the first 9 episodes so it really is an amazing deal.
 
I'll probably go pick up Kurumi and the last volume of Rahxephon tomorrow since I only have the first dvd. Thanks OP

I had them price check the Nadesico movie and they said it was 29.99. I couldn't see the screen when he was scanning though the punk might have lied to me. Other then that my local FYE didn't have much of anything. The next one is 42 miles and I don't want to drive that far. I also had him check the End of Evangelion DVD's since he might have been lieing about the Nadesico DVD might have lied about the others. Did get Orguss 02 for 11.99 at the Gamestop up stairs. They also had GTO boxset for 45 after 50% off but wasn't interested in it.

I went to FYE today and picked up Steel Angel Kurumi. But I picked up a copy of Street Fighter Alpha, and asked for a price check. They said it was $19.99, which is $5 off. Though I was hoping to get it for $5.99 instead. I'll check another FYE later this week.
 
hey also a tip, for the fye's that have those music sample scan machines you can scan dvds to get prices there as well. It's easier than having to ask over and over and maybe someone screwing it up. One other thing to watch out for is they are also running 25% off dvd sets like 49.99 and up, so inattentive cashiers may only see that discount not the much bigger one. They tried that with steel angel kurmumi for me.

went to the fyes by me and picked up aqarian age, get backers, ansd the steel angel kurumi box. I didnt know burn up excess was on sale :( I may have to go back there tommorow and pick that up lol
 
i just watched city hunter (the movie) last week for free and thought it was pretty funny. anyhoo, i saw the 1st collection at fye for $29.99 and the 2nd collection was the same price. considering they retail for $90.00 each, i think that's a really great price. i would've bought it but i forgot my credit :(

No, it will come up the retail price. But I have a coconuts and I was there this moring. They had the sale prices too. But if they look upo the pice on the computers it'll list retail. You have to actually scan it to get the sale price.

Nothing at my coconuts was on sale, except the dragon ball z dvds which were all 19.99 instead of 22.99 (vast savings indeed), I have no interest in those dvds. Sigh ill stick to getting good anime deals online it seems better.

So should I order from coconuts, will the price be the same as FYE?

I picked up CITY HUNTER 1+2 and Gunsmith Cats for about $72. Ordered Steel Angel kurumi, and Excel Saga.
The 2 employees working couldnt believe the prices, and didnt think if i ordered them they would be on sale. They checked the dates and indeed the prices were good til march.

Nope, they didnt ask me for squat. She ordered 3 sets of each in and assured me a copy. I'll check back next weekend, because my Gunsmith Cats DVD was quite scratched and loose inside the box.

Ouch, that bad eh? I caught episode 23 on Anime Network last night at my buddy's place. Animation wasn't too great and the poorly done English voice acting was annoying, but other than that I couldn't get a strong feeling about it. The only online reviews I can find are for S1 (discs 1-3), which my FYE didn't have, and they don't seem too bad. Can you clarify why you hated it so much? It'll help me decide whether to reallocate the funds. :)
 
Okay, I just placed an order so here's the rundown.

Earlier I bought Steel Angel, Comic Party 1 w/Box + 3 and 4, and Aquarian Age 1 w/ Box. I also just Bought the Excel Saga Collection for $30 while I was there.

I needed to order Kino's Journey.

On the screen each showed orifginal price but as he rang them up for the special order the actual price was displayed at the register.

So, I ordered Kino's Journey 1 w/ Box + 2, 3 and 4.

Then he rang up Aquarian Age 2 and 3. Those did not ring up as on sale. I'm puzzled by this because at Anime on DVD a forum member said 2 and 3 were in the $10 range. They rang up as $30 each. Even thought I had just bought the 1 w/ Box for $15. So I told him to scrap that.

I needed Comic Party 2 and they didn't even have that in the system. They had 1, 1 with box, 3 and 4 but not 2. :(

Finally, I also ordered Gunsmith Cats. That rang up for $7.

They tacked on a one dollar special order charge.

I also had to pay at least half in deposit. I decided to pay the whole thing. I have a receipt which I'll hold onto.

Accordign to the Manager they place their Orders on Thursday. He said there was still a slight possibility that they couldn't get the titles I want. Then it may take another week after that. They would call.
