Cheap Ass Food

yeah youd think with the cheapass name theyd be showing you where to get deals on food or something or sales on food items. but apparently theyre a site about cheap recipies so why not cheapass recipies or comatose cuisine. or slackass supping.

Dag. There is some nasty ass stuff on this site.

Although I might try the nacho cheese sauce made with Colt 45.

Kool-Aid-soaked dill pickles, a staple snack from the Mississippi Delta:

Makes: A 46-ounce jar of pickles

- 46 ounce (1 quart, 14 ounces) jar whole dill pickles
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 packets red Kool-Aid (such as cherry flavored)

You can stay cheap - we've had many threads on this before - without eating kool-aid pickles and pb+j

for instance, this weekend i found a pound of frozen uncooked shrimp (about 40% off) for $6. ears of corn (i live in CA) are .20 cents each. I boiled up all the shrimp for a couple minutes and the corn in a separate pot. then put the shrimp on ice. this is a ton of shrimp. it pretty much would make 2-3 meals for even a big eater. had the shrimp with cocktail sauce. added some horseradish. corn got some sea salt and some butter.

throw some bread in there if you want.

so literally, a $3 totally delicious meal thats super easy and actually very healthy.

Yup, I grabbed 5 ears of corn too for 20 cents each. That's a part of 5 meals right there. Since I hate shrimp, just grabbed some chicken, seasoned it, and threw it on the George Foreman grill. Throw that over some white rice + corn = a coupel days worth of meals for cheap.

The problem is that if you live alone and want to buy in bulk for cheaper prices, you end up eating hte same thing for more than one meal. I can't stand eating something more than twice in 3-4 days (yeah yeah I can freeze the meat but it gets really annoying having to thaw and cook enough meat just for one meal). Eventually each meal costs around $4 for me...the same freaking price as eating out. ...or you can just live on Ramen, canned soup, rice + soy sauce, and TV dinners....very unhealthy but super cheap.

Oh I know, I just have an obsession with PB&J.

I'm all about eating on the cheap...I just took a can of tuna, mixed it in a bowl with a tomato and pepper, then put it on whole grain bread. Delicious

I've been living on the cheap lately, too, and one of my favorite meals is teriyaki chicken with white rice. So easy to make and pretty cheap. You can add some broccoli, too, and the meal ends up at about $4 at the most.

One word: potatoes.

I seriously lived off of nothing BUT potatoes for like 3 months once.

Mashed, fried, baked, you name it. Cheap AND filling. But not too healthy if that's all you eat.

Ah, the poor college days...

I'm either going to have to deal with this or find a way around it in a few weeks when I go back to college.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them. :)

I'm going to have to look at this site, but initial results don't look too promising. The recipes are edible, but not much beyond that...
