Cheap Ass Home Theater?

Hey gang,

I'd like to ask for a home theater system for Christmas (receiver and speakers, the whole bit.) But I'd like something that doesn't break the family's bank.

Compared to what I know video games, I really know nothing about home theater, and I was wondering if you guys could give me some guidance on what to ask for. I'd ideally like to ask for something below $200.

I don't need something great, just something functional. Any thoughts?

well, then i think i shall wait then on the reciever and just buy a dvd recorder this week.

Eh, their newer one for Wal-Mart/BB/CC that is around $349 is "good" enough....at least it has enough inputs for some consoles and HDMI.

Only problem is, the only thing you'll hear in 5.1 is the built in DVD player

Well, it's not like Yamaha and Onkyo only produce expensive stuff. They both have HTIB's under $250 and they're much better than the competition.
