Circuit City will negotiate with you and if you have cash you're able to get even a better deal by stirring up competition.

In my area, Georgia, by the Mall of Georgia, all of the HHGregg people know the Circuit City people by name. I didn't find out till I spent 2400 for DLP 51 " tv but the guy there and some clients of mine have confirmed that if you pay cash you can get up to a 10% discount. You can at the very least get a few bucks knocked off by playing hardball for sure.

How big is your room, and how far away will you be sitting from it is the question you need to ask. You dont get the biggest TV they make, you get the TV that is right for the room.

Example: The "proper" seating distance from a 65" Set is anywhere from 10-15 feet away while watching DVD and other standard definition broadcasting. If watching HDTV sources, you can sit a little closer if you like.

It has to do with the quality of the image, wether or not you will see scanlines or motion artifacts (if you sit too close), and also if you'll wind up getting eye fatigue from sitting too close (your eyes moving around so much to follow the action because you are too close).

How far away will you be sitting from this screen?? If you are planning on watching regular cable on these sets, the further you sit back the better the picture will be. It will vary from "soft and mildly acceptable" to "utter garbage, I'd get a better picture with a pair of aluminum-foil rabbit ears"....

I have the 51" for a few months, and it's great. Do it. You'll have saved $600 some dollars... save that for the surround sound system and you'll be all set.

Can anyone who knows a lot about tvs look at the specs of this one for me and tell me if it's a good tv , since i don't know a lot about tv's im going with a sony cause i believe they make good things, but if you guys understand all those specs then and tell me that will be much better !

The room is 12 feet from wall to wall, will the 57'' be too big ?

I bought the sony 51" from a local electronics store for about 1500 after taxes, plus there was 200 in rebates after that. Great TV, no problems with it, great for games.

Are you sure you want to get a Sony rear projection.....There are other brands out there for around the same price that really outshine a sony rptv. For eexample... Hitachi and Mitsubishi.
Are all Brandsmart TV's that much cheaper, or was this a one-time deal you found?
All brandsmart tv's are cheaper, for example this 51'' sony is $1699.99 everywhere else, brandsmart has it for $1298.88 which is way cheaper than everywhere else , but now they have it for $998.88 which is an outstanding deal, im definitely going to get on this deal , ill see if i go tomorrow !

The Sony will not degrade as quickly from what I have been told. The rptv from Sony use glass lens, while most others use plastic. Glass will not fog up over time from the heat of the bulbs. However, I also heard that Sony's bulbs burn out faster. I find thate 51" is great from 8' out or more. What inputs will you have?

well its rear projection so if im correct over time you will lose quality , rear projections have a tendency to be dark from a different viewing angle Im not a big fan never have been , although the new types of rear projection DLP,Lcos,LCD are better then old fashioned Rear projections. Also you might wanna look at the type of connections are on the tv you wanna look for dvi or hdmi just for future products like new cable boxes , next gen system that might have one of those connections and also dvd players that already have one of those type of connections.

I looked up Brandsmart's website and the $998 price is after a VOOM rebate. I remember the name, but I forget what they are. Cable company? Satellite? Sounds like the actual price may be more than $998 if you have to sign up for some sort of additional service to get the rebate.

Yeah, as stated....you can get a Mitsubishi for around $1500 or less for the 55". I have a 55" Mits and it's GREAt. They seem to be highly regarded. The only thing it does not have is 720p, but many rear projection do not. (not sure about Sony)

My next TV may be the Sony RP-LCD 70" model.... :)
