Cheap energy drinks, do they exist?

hiccupleftovers

CAGiversary!
So umm yeah, any CAGs know of any stores with cheap Red Bull, Rockstar, and Bawls? Hell, pretty much any energy drink, as long as it is decent/drinkable (meaning no Joker and a few other energy drinks I've tried which elude me at the moment). Are there coupons, online retailers, brands only found in certain areas but that can be bought online, etc.?
Totally agree with you there.
Haha, you totally responded to my girlfriend's post.

I have to say, I recently tried Full Throttle, both the Citrus Flavor and the Blue Agave? one, and I must say they are EXCELLENT. The Citrus one tastes just like orange soda (GOOD orange soda), and the Blue Agave is like a Blue Raspberry soda. I have to say, I might like them even better than Rockstar.

They aren't that cheap, but they are less than Red Bull, and they are some of the best tasting I've ever had.

Oh I've had several 5 hr energy shots, never felt a thing

They taste like crap and I get a bigger buzz from Liter of Diet Pepsi. Maybe its just me.
"Rip It" used to be sold at my local Wal-Mart, but they don't have it anymore, or I can't find it because they maybe moved it, but it might be at your local Wal-Mart. It's really good stuff, and they have Sugar Free variations of it.
If you check out Rip It's website (http://www.ripitenergy.com/splash/index.html), you can find some stores that sell it. Check the bottom of the page for places that sell RipIt. I found Rip It at Dollar Tree stores and overall, it's pretty good. Only really had the Citrus X one and it tastes kind of like Sunny D.

Also, Atomic Pom was decent, but I enjoyed Lime Wrecker better. However, neither were bad, so if you can find some, give it a shot. Oh yes, How's Markets (http://hows.foodmagic.com/fmap/jsphows/home.jsp?rnd=155605) sometime has sales on it.
can you actually get this anywhere? I've been searching all over for it, but haven't found any.
I've only seen it at Walmart. Went back looking for more Jones Energy and it appears my local Walmarts have stopped carrying it.

Appears I may have to try Rip It since I know I can get that down the street from me.

I'm addicted to Rip It Atomic Pom, (sugar free). Its made by Faygo so you have that in your area, Rip It shouldnt be to far.

(just found this thread so that may have been mentioned earlier, havent read everything.)

On G4.com i constantly see ads for this energy drink called Venom and the ad usually has a b1g1 free coupon or $1 off 1. I saw the cans at Target the other day for 2.29 so i printed out a couple coupons and gonna try 'em when i get down there next. Considering they have these deals i can only assume it tastes like shit

I finally got to try Rip It (Power and Citrus X versions). I actually like the taste of Power. And since I got it from the Dollar Store, they were $1 a can. My concern is that in the Nutritional Facts box of the can, it says it has yadda-yadda% caffeine, but the ingredients list does not mention caffiene. I'm assuming it does have caffeine, but drinking one can didn't give me an energy boost.

I have a can of Rip It Citrus X in my hand right and the nutritional facts say "100mg per 8fl oz" of caffeine. 2 servings per can, so 200mg per 16 fl oz. Hope that helps.

You health freaks need to chill out. You only live once, let people enjoy their lives. You know what the #1 killer is? The #1 contributer to heart disease? Stress. That's right.. stress, from worrying about how you look.. what you eat.. what people think about you.. etc.

ENJOY YOUR LIVES! Do what you like! Like what you do!

I think I've tried Venom before, but sadly without a coupon. :( I can't really remember how the drink tasted, so either it left me with an alright/o.k. feeling and taste or it was just pure crap that I really wanted to forget.

Oh yeah, I finally got to try a 5 hour energy thanks to a trial at my Wal-Mart. Safe to say, I will never, ever drink that shit. The thing burned my tongue and my throat. As soon as the liquid touched my tongue, I wanted to vomit it back out. I had to keep trying to scrape the taste from my mouth.

Oh yeah, only a few more days for the Costco Red bull coupon, making their cases $23 (something like .90 a can). Also, Max Velocity is still .79 cents at Albertsons.

Does anyone know if Costco is open tomorrow? If it is, then I'm going to hit up two and stock up.
Had anybody here tried 'Talon'? It's an exclusive to 'Circle K' gas stations. It's my favorite drink, then 'Amp'.
We have Circle K's out here, but I've never heard of Talon. I'll have to buy one next time I'm in one of their gas stations.

Just a bump and heads up...

WM is clearencing some Energy drinks... all the WWE labled ones:

Raw Attitude - Black box
Raw Attitude Citris - Orange box
Hogan Energy - Yellow box

They had them priced at .50 cents a 4 pack. (About 12.5 cents each can). I picked up 2 of each, and haven't yet tried any, could be dog piss, but I already tried Segals nasty lighting drink... so it can't be that bad.

I'll give up a review of one of them, and will just have to give up opinions of the others since I've got two other people trying the one I am not drinking.

They did not have ANY Sugar Free ones... I don't think WWE had any.

Thanks for telling us what we should like. Maybe next you could tell us what bands are cool and which ones suck.

waste of time huh... are you part of the HFCS yuppies?

Soda has absolutely nothing ... at least with an energy drink... most don't contain HFCS, some come in Sugar free, and all of them most likely contains much more caffine than soda/coffee and has a load of vitamins.

Gah, you're right... I should just ignore you instead of wasting my time. Lesson learned.
I'm assuming you guys saw this thread? Can't beat the price.

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229947
At 12.5 cents a can, it is cheaper than headshot. for 72 cans you'll be paying... $9

Plus I tried that 5 hour energy/concentrated energy shots before and people enjoy drinking the can so they wanted it for idle drinking too.

Too bad you couldn't grab a bottle of carbonated water and add the headshot to that and come up with an easy drink if you didn't want the shots.

vitamins?

energy drinks are soda with some extra sugar and caffeine, they are actually bad for you. but by all means, if you think they have vitamins in them keep drinking them. all your getting is B6

Try reading the OP's first post, next time you try shoving your opinion down our throats.

Your opinion regarding energy drinks being a waste of time, in this thread, is just as much a waste of time as you think energy drinks are.

There's an article on CNN today about energy drinks. I haven't tried 5-hour energy, but the article mentions that it only has about a small cup of coffee worth of caffeine in it and "not to expect superhuman results". After hearing from a few people on here that it tastes like crap, I probably never will. Rockstar ftw.

I personally chose Monster (although I still heart Jolt Cola, and still get the 24oz battery cans from Sheetz), as I got a case of 16oz cans for around $26 at Sam's Club.

The one near us has Lo-Carb, Original, and half-cases of triple-samplers of the coffee flavored ones, which are really good, for $20.

Monster personally doesn't give me a crash, it just kinda fades, which is awesome as Jolt always gave a crash.

You may be able to get M-80 or Assault nearby, those have real juice in them, but I personally think they're nasty.

Sam's Club's website also lets you check any store nearby for stock.

Additionally, as I mentioned, you could try Jolt. Sheetz here HAD 24oz cans for $1.87 (included tax), but they disappeared, and now they're $2.29, which isn't a bad deal. Jolt, however, is much sweeter, but tastes alot more like soda. Probably why it has a crash. I know almost every Walgreens also sells them but for abnormally high prices.

Good luck on your hunt for the cheapass' choice of energy drinks :D

Oh, edit: I remember hearing that some guy drank around...4-6? red bulls a day...died of a heart attack. Meh. That's definately asking for trouble, what people are doing here with energy drinks may not be "healthy" per-se, but it gets the job done, and more than the recommended amount should never be taken. I personally see them as "All-nighters", and not much else, as I drink soda regularly.

wow... just for anyone else that cares to read that article... I summarize:

CNN:
5 hour energy drinks are sold everywhere
They contain a bunch of natural ingrediants
We have no fucking clue what the really do, no one bothered to find that out
There are stupid people out there.

fucking CNN and their shitty reporting.

The basis behind B vitamins is that they boost the cells up to process all the other energy boosting ingrediants. Caffine breaks down and most of it is expelled out of the body. But by taking all those B vitamins, and other energy boosters, it lengthens the meager amount of caffine to last alot longer than it normally would. Plus it's not loaded with sugar.

5 Hour never claimed to be superhuman... but just takes that, "gah I need a nap" feeling away... won't make you wired, just not tired.

I've been using it for a year now and prefer that to anything else, it's just more expensive than most sugared energy drinks.

I was in a DollarTree and they had Lost/Lost Sugar Free/Lost Juiced for $1 for the 24oz can. Like Monster this was another drink that was developed by Hansen's, and there's a similar base taste, just a little different in carbonation and sweetness. The bad thing is, it's DollarTree so it's a crapshoot if you're going to find it in yours.

That's where I found the Stacker2 5 hour energy drinks. They have berry and grape and it's only $1. Same ingrediants as the retail stuff for $2.50.

I once found Rockstar Juice sold there, wasn't long though, so like you said, it's a crapshoot on what crap they might sell.

I knew a person who once drank 6 red bulls in a day and a half time frame because he had something like 4 finals in one day (some high level econ, some upper math class, some upper chem class, etc.). He did alright, but could hardly sleep then. Also, I think since he is a BioChem major or Med or something, that he had already built up a tolerance to caffeine from all the studying he had to do. I can only really handle maybe 2-3 Red Bulls max. 2 and afterward I begin to not feel so great, but the occasional 1 here and there works wonders for that late night studying, etc. I don't drink it everyday like some people I know, but I know some people that use it as their cup of coffee instead of coffee since they either can't have coffee or don't like it.

Hmm...interesting. I've never heard of these WWE energy drinks. I wonder if my Walmart ever received any or if they have any left. I don't think I've ever seen them, though.

By the way, has anyone else's Albertson stopped carrying the smaller cans of the cheetah (Maximum Velocity) energy drink (the red/cherry flavor (I think)? My store still sells the big cans, but I don't really care for them as to me that's usually too much energy drink in one shot and I usually can't finish it anyway. The carbonation then dissipates and it loses its taste. I've tried the big cans for the orange (orange can) flavor, but still felt the red can to be the better tasting of the two.

My local Big Lots have the Stacker 2 2-pack energy shots for $3.74 on closeout right now. YMMV. I bought some but haven't tried them yet.

You can buy a 4 pack of Red Bull at least in my area for $6 nowadays. But personally I suggest Adderall for that all day long energy.

Time to bump up this sucker again. I just ran out of my Red bull that I got when they were on sale (coupon) at Costco and now am stuck with the 6 bottles of Venom (also known as crap) energy drink that I got from an event out here (stuff could taste ok, except for the fact they put in this shitty tasting sucralose which kills the taste). My Albertsons also stopped carrying the small Cheetah energy drink. I haven't been to Big Lots in a while, but last time I was there I saw that they stopped carrying Ace energy drink, which was the only one I actually liked from them. How are the Stackers though?

Does your Albertson store carry the big ones? At my Jewel, they are $1 with the preferred card.

Do you know what it looks like/what it's called? I don't think I've ever seen energy drinks there.

I just remember that they had 2 varieties. One came in an orange can and one was in a purple can. I've found them in different parts of the store on different visits.

was desperate and drank 6 redbulls cause I had a drug test in the morning. Got the herb and vicodin (spelling I know) out of my system. Was a long time ago, I'm a good kid now.

Finally finished off the three cases of headshots. Seemed real watered down, usually had to drink 2-3 to wake me up at the buttcrack of dawn.

try the jolts they are about 24 oz and usually less than the redbulls, at work i usually pay 2.25 after my enployee discount and tax, i think its right over 3 without the employee but for the same price of a redbulls for alot more

I wish I had tried the Jolts when my store carried them. I don't think I've seen a store sell Jolts in a really long time:cry:

Recently tried Monster Rehab (Tea+Lemonade+Energy). It was not bad, tasted like lemonade pretty much and also was not carbonated. There was another non carbonated drink I tried. Rockstar Grape....that did not taste to well. I would say it tasted like cough syrup.

Have you guys seen Rockstar Cola flavor recently? Have not been able to find that in my local area for a while.

I remember this thread.

I recently found an energy drink called Knockout at Fry's, it reminds me of Monster but is only $0.99 a can.
