I've gotten that message before, only to have it shipped later that afternoon. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

But I'm sticking with my guns! I'm saving $1.12 doing this instead of buying from Newegg. Hardcore CAG!

Ha ha I went the Newegg route as well for the Darkness and saved like $.65 lol but it has already shipped so im very happy.
 
Thanks for that Newegg link! I just canceled my Amazon/Target preorder and did Newegg along with Dark Sector. Conveniently the Playstation version of Dark Sector is out of stock, so I finally don't have to decide on which format :D

I picked up (2) copies of Beijing Olympics for the 360 also, ordered on 10/17.

They arrived today, but both copies they sent me were the PS3 version. I guess it's a good thing I have a PS3 too.

Don't give up on DIRT, guys. I emailed them several times and complained - since they have the game listed as in stock for 29.99. They wound up honoring the original price for me.

It takes about 3 cycles of email and response to get this result, so be persistent.
 
Like others here, i had Dirt and The Darkness on order from Amazon/Target but voluntarily canceled both as they seemed to be going nowhere. Took The Darkness from Newegg anyway.

And indeed, crossed in the e-mail was a notice that they were canceling Dirt themselves. I'll run into it cheap again somewhere down the line, regardless. No rush then, no rush now.

Same here. They sent the wrong version (I am trying to return for a replacement). pretty bad service for such a large retail establishment...

I ordered the Darkness from Amazon -> Target a few days ago and they put it on backorder. The Estimated ship date is November 23rd...
 
My order for The Darkness was listed as delayed until later November however it is now listed as shipping soon. I will check again to see if it has shipped and update all here. :)

Good luck to you guys still waiting on Target. I switched my order to Newegg last Wed, and got the game in the mail on Friday. I'd suggest doing the same, but Newegg is currently OOS. :(
 
I got the delay notice from Amazon for The Darkness and was able to approve the wait. I hope it doesn't get cancelled but we shall see.
 
If anyone needs, or for those of you who missed the deal or are sick of waiting for Target, I have an extra sealed copy of the Darkness I would gladly sell for $8 plus shipping (around $2.50 first class or $4.50 priority).
 
Well I just got my copy of "The Darkness", the top of the case is completely cracked and in pieces. And the shrinkwrap looks odd, I think it has been re-shrinkwrapped to be honest.

I'm not happy, I've already e-mailed them to get either a refund or a replacement. Definitely not opening it, as how do I know if it's a CD-R instead of the game?

Mine wasn't cracked (and I'd definetly take it back!) but my shrink wrap does look weird. I always hate that (and typically see it on a lot of DS games). I'm not sure what to make of it, but hopefully it's just "one of those games that ships with weird shrink wrap".

I got Fable 2 at the same time, and it looks totally normal by comparison. I do still have the seal on the side of the game though.

I should mention I got mine from Newegg, so maybe they're all just sealed weird.

I've been having a lot of trouble with Amazon and Target through Amazon packing things recently. They sent me a Warhawk with headset bundle in a bubble pouch and it got totally crushed. Then, they sent me Saint's Row 2 CE the same way and the metal tin had a huge dent in the side. I returned both, I'm just hoping they send the replacements in a box.
 
Crud. I guess I've been lucking out (although mine are shipped UPS, so maybe that's why mine have been okay?)

Some 360 games are factory shrinkwrapped. I know Blue Dragon is one of those. Sometimes the shrinkwrap was piss poorly done in such a way that the plastic cover was all wrinkled up during the heat shrinking process.

So I guess that means some aren't...I guess DS games are the same way. Why is that I wonder? Is that true of some games for all systems?
 
Yeah. This affects almost all systems (Wii is an exception so far). I've seen games that are shrinkwrapped at multiple stores and some of those very same games have the folded cellopane seal at other places. Some examples are:

:ds: Ninja Gaiden DS
:360: Blue Dragon
:ps2: Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 and 3
:ps3: Bourne Conspiracy (all shrinkwrapped so far)
 
Too bad I missed these, would have picked up Dirt and Diner Dash, at the very least. They are now back to their regular prices!

To those of you that complain that $20 for 5 hours of gaming is too much, why don't you just finish the game and resell it? You might even make a few bucks for yourself! Can't do that with downloadable content!

I remember that Scrapland on the original Xbox was sent to stores without any shrinkwrap at all and they stores had to shrink it themselves. Maybe that's the case with some of these poorly-shrinked games.
