was browsing around for a case for my black ds lite, and i stumbled upon this:
http://vavolo.com/productdetails.asp,ProductID,2875,,.htm
which i thought for sure was too good to be true. so i tried to find a review for them but came up with nothing (only 1 or 2, nothing substantial).

instead, i ended up finding a coupon for the site worth $3 off - 0410743217

so basically, a black hori carrying case for:

$6 + $4.90 shipping - $3 = $7.90 to your door.

although they ship from hongkong, one of the reviews i found said it came within a week, which is good enough for me.

it turns out they take paypal, and are premier members, so they seem legit to me and i ended up buying one, despite never hearing of them before and they being based in hongkong.

thought i'd share the deal with you guys here in case anybody was interested.

and if it's a scam, we can get scammed together =D.

for those of you getting a pink one, they have the pink one for even cheaper here: http://vavolo.com/productdetails.asp,ProductID,3117,,.htm

it comes out to:
$3 + $4.90 shipping - $3 = $4.90 to your door.

plenty of other stuff too.

Great deal let us know when you get shipping confirmation and then I will bite.

I am looking at the combo with the wireless bridge adapter $ 5.90 more.

Might want to post this on OP since I used to own this same case:

Chrono72090's Quick Review:

This particular DS Lite case is indeed a great choice (especially for under $10 :)). Basically, it's a little rectangular soft case. The inside is white and is made of some sort of cloth. There are pockets inside the case for two DS games and 1 GBA game (good for holding the GBA insert if you bring a game along.) It should protect against any bumps and theres really no reason you shouldn't have already ordered one!

Actually, I ordered it when it first came out and am not impressed at all. The quality of the case isn't that great and it is not sturdy. I think you are alot better off with the Radioshack case for $3.00, which is a GREAT case.

Well now I don't know what to do. Is the Hori case at all smaller?

I think I'm going to jump on this. I want one more for just holding it around the house and some light travel. This should work well.

Has anyone ordered from this site before? Are they reputable?

These cases are likely bootlegs, but with cases that's not much of an issue.

I have the black Horii DS lite case and it is great. Soft, yes, but lightweight and fits well in your pocket. You can fit up to 6 games in the 2 little pockets, and the accessory pocket could hold a few more if you really wanted it to.

I'm thinking of buying one, but it does look a bit cheaply made. The 2 DS pockets inside the light blue one don't look the same size as each other and look a bit crooked. But for $4.90 I guess you can't go wrong.

It is VERY cheaply made, especially the bootleg ones. I got an official and a bootleg, and I can say that both were garbage. The bootleg's stitching was all over the place and the inside smelled of mildew and has stains on it. The zippers also were not good. Once again, I would advise STRONGLY against this case. Plus the DS games don't even fit into one of the pockets without it ripping. There is a video on YOUTUBE of this.

I don't know, I got a bootleg and it's exactly as good as I would expect a legit to be. No problems with the pockets or anything else. I absolutely love it, except the original design could have easily had more pockets for games in the same space.

~HORI CASES STINK~

The 'compact' case is a bulky fruity looking manpurse. I imported one for 15 and waited for a week and a half for the highly reviewed case and was REALLY upset when it arrived in the mail. It makes the ds Light seem like some kind of bulky mini laptop. I had to stuff it into my pants and it made me sweat a ton because the material is insulating. Everyone laughs when they see it. It is made out of a soft thick material that attracts dirt like a magnet and doesn't really protect anything with the flimsy material it is made of.

A BETTER BUY
I went to craptastic FYE to see if they had any slim ds light cases and found the perfect

-ALS Industries : NDSL 80 case- 7.99! ONLY

VERY SLIM and sturdy. Fits in my pants easily or clip to belt. Has useless ds playthrough plastic that I cut off. Has a carbinger clip and can hold like 9ds games nicely in a seperate outside pouch (more if you want really). Only problem is that FYE never has many in stock and they only usually have hot pink..... I'd buy that over the HORI CRAP cases. I waited three weeks untill i found a beautifull navy blue one. I feel fullfiled somehow.... I am a loser I know.

Let me understand this. A nice, slim case, to you is inferior to a case that you have to cut up and maim to use? Lordy, lordy.

You can't get a more slim case than the Horii version in this topic. It will fit in your pocket as well as, f not better than, any other case I've ever read about. Like I said, the lack of game storage is the only significant problem with this case. Your complaints sound a little silly to me.

Oh yeah, and Horii doesn't have their reputation for nothing. It's because they are the best 3rd party manufacturer in Japan, period. A heck of a lot of people will agree with me on this.

Sorry I didn't mean to upset you little Hori Hori Fanboi. Just because you are huge Hori fan doesn't mean that Hori can't make some less than perfect products. Like I said in my above post the ASL Industries NDSL 80 case is SMALLER than the Hori. It is like comparing a body fitting glove in NDSL 80 to a large looking brick in the Hori. The covering in the hori makes me sweaty when I put it in my pocket. The NDSL 80 case does not. The NDSL 80 case has a large separate compartment which you can shove a ton of crap into if you really wanted to. There is a clear plastic pass through compartment in the NDSL 80 to hold your DS light so it doesn't fall out when you open it, you can:
a. put the DS light in the compartment and use it as they intended to hold the ds Light in place.
b. put the DS light on top of the plastic smushing it down
c. cut out the plastic with a scissors, no one will ever notice it was there.

I also didn't know you knew everything, and had some knowledge of the cases I was talking about. Well I have both cases and in my opinion the Hori case isn't worth anything for the reasons I listed above. The NDSL 80 case is smaller, is made of much nicer sturdier material, and you can actually see it in the store for yourself before you buy (in FYE or one of their many affiliates I am guessing)! In my opinion the compact Hori case takes the beautifull Nintendo DS and makes it seem larger and bulkier than the PSP. That is a mortal sin I cannot forgive.

Lol....if other people like the Hori case let's leave it at that shall we, unless you think your opinion is right? Other people really like the Hori case for their own reasons so let it drop aight.

Well... Everyone has the right to his opinion. Maybe I could buy a nice PSP case and cut it up until my DS Lite fits in it perfectly, heh.

actually, I wish there was a nice case like the Logitech PGP for the DS..

just an update for you guys. case came in today. i already threw away my packaging, but here's a picture of my friend's unopened case for those of you that think it's a bootleg.

dunno if the coupon still works though....

I think this is a bootleg, I just got my black one and if Hori can't even stitch on the DS logo correctly, then that is pretty sad. The packaging looks authentic though, but the case is another story. The inside of the case is worse than I expected--the holders to hold your DS games are stitched from a cheap cloth, so I worry about static electricity affecting the cartridges. I would take a picture of the packaging but I don't have it with me right now. To describe the stitched logo, it reads "N. DS Lite" with the two rectangles that represent the DS dual screens. Those screens aren't even lined up properly.

If you can accept the fact that it's a bootleg, then it's a decent case but I wouldn't pay $7 for the black one. There is a blue colored one that sells for $5 after shipping and coupon, and at that price I think it is a good bargain. There are plenty of good cases for $10 around game stores here, I would check those out first instead of buying these.

Does it look like the pictures in the link below? It's hard to tell because that's the back of the case. I didn't think that Hori was a big enough name (or had expensive enough stuff) to warranty bootlegging, but who knows?

Well, their screen protectors are certified by Nintendo, and won't ruin your warrenty (also very good too).

Anyways, how is the case? I might order one, because I am looking for one to replace my old big ds case, which I love. It has 8 slots for ds games, and a backing for the charger, and even 4 GBA games. The only problem with my old one is that the ds lite doesn't fit perfectly, and slides a little, not a big problem though.

I can confirm that my black Hori DS lite case I ordered from here is bootleg, thanks to Icruise for the link to the Hori case review. The stitching of the DS logo on my case definitely is not even close to the official one. Besides the logo, I think the bootleg looks pretty close to the original. It's not that much smaller than my other DS case, and the fact it can't hold the DS charger is another negative for me.
