Cheap vs. Complete

I've noticed several ebay auctions and local preplayed games for sale that are cheap but not complete. Does anyone on these boards accept disc only games if they can be gotten on the cheap? I guess if it were some rarity then maybe (not that I'd know a rare deal if it bit me), but for the most part getting a disc only deal doesn't appeal to me.

i only get games sealed. the last game i bought even used was THPS4 for Xbox, and it worked great, but the insert for the case was wrinkled like it got dunked in water. pissed me off to no end.

....picky, picky, picky

I play them sealed too.

Depends- cartridge games I have no issues buying loose. Disc games I mostly focus on complete, but price does factor in. (example: Soul Calibur for Dreamcast, complete, $24.99 at Gamecrazy. Soul Calibur for DC, disc-only, 6 cents on Ebay. I pick ebay.)

it depends. If you are talking about $1 v. $50 for sealed then I'll pay the $1 for the disc only and have fun playing it. If it's just a $5 or $10 difference than no way...

I hate incomplete stuff, though I don't mind that much if they're carts. I just bought the dvd "Osama" (about a little girl who goes to work as a boy in taliban controlled afghanistan, made in afghanistan) for 5 bucks. It was the canadian version (which I normally won't buy, unless it's a canadian movie), but I figured for 5 bucks I'd buy it, but when I opened it it was missing the inserts which made me regret it (had tape to seal it).

as long as the game works thats alright.. i tend to like them atleast with the original case/cover... but in all honesty,.. if i can get a great playstation game for under a dollar i'm going for it.. just don't purchase anything from "paradise games" i won an auction for Tekken 3 disc only for a penny and they want to charge 9 bucks shipping... yikes.. and they won't send with anything else... so beware.. but EB/GS has a bunch like this

I'd pick complete if it isn't too expensive. If I get a loost game, I just print a cover from the internet and call it good (If it is a cd based game).

I had this dilema earlier last week. Gamestop had a $50 Suikoden 2 which I wanted but it was disc only. I figured that I would like to play it but didn't want to pay the $100+ on ebay for the complete game so I bought the disc only. It will probably irritate me because my Suikoden 1&3 are complete but at least now I have 2. I guess I can print the cover off of the one website but now I need the back insert too which sucks.

I don't care if cart games are incomplete, but disk-based games must be complete and mint. Over the years, I've grown more into collecting games vs playing them. Don't get me wrong. I play games every day, but there are not enough days in my lifetime to play all of my games. I'd estimate my collectioni to be well over 700 games across many platforms.

It depends on how cheap, what game and how much I want to play it. I have no problem with used, I tend to prefer complete. Let's say it was Gitaroo-man which I've been searching for for less than 40 dollars, then if its incomplete... I want it now, just because I need the game to play and it's so flippin' hard to find.

I prefer complete when possible but I will make exceptions.

For GBA games that I simply cannot find complete at a reasonable price (Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Parasite Eve II), I will buy used cart only if I have to (which I did).

For RPG's, I seldom buy unless complete. Part of this is because I enjoy having the original booklets and cover art. Also, in the unlikely event that I would sell or trade my RPG's, having them complete is better for the value. The only one I ever recall trading though is Vay for Sega CD (I am still kicking myself for that one.)

Thanks to EB's policy on including all manuals and packaging with PS2, Xbox, and GCN games, I never buy those unless complete (and that is why I never buy used from Gamestop online).

I am more forgiving on older systems like the SNES, NES, and Genesis.

I prefer complete as well but price does factor in. On ebay I've been looking for Dragon Force (Saturn) and they're up to over $100 now for a complete copy. There's even one on there now that's up to $810 for some odd reason:

Anyway, I picked up a mint disc only copy for $23.50 with free shipping. I would have liked a complete copy but the price difference is way too much. So, I guess it really comes down to the price difference between a complete copy or a disc only copy.

For me, it depends on the price. When I buy a game, it's mine for good. I do not trade, nor do I sell. For my collections sake, I like all of my games to look uniform, but I can deal without instructions or a case if I really want the game.

For example, I found Thunder Force V: Perfect System at an EB a couple weeks ago for 2.99. Didn't have the case or instructions, but I wanted the game so badly that I didn't really care.

Not to mention that for some games, especially PS1 stuff, I just head on over to www.cdcovers.cc and use coverXP to fashion up a pretty nice looking makeshift case. It isn't as good as the real thing I admit, but it's pretty damn close.

If it is a game I know I'm going to keep anyway, I'm fine if it isn't complete. If it is something that I'm unsure of whether I'll like it or not I always get complete so it'll be worth more later.

Try to always buy complete especially if I'm paying cash. Unless it is something I'm dying to find and find it disc only but at an amazing price paying cash for it is out. I picked up a few PSX games at GR for a few bucks each disc only with the B2G1 because I don't mind using credit as freely. I'm really picky about my stuff so being complete is important to me but if I can't find it elsewhere disc only isn't so bad.

I would never buy something like Suikoden II disc only though. It doesn't seem worth it no matter how rare the game is to spend so much for just a disc. Situations like that are when I'm not gungho anti-piracy. Konami could get my money easily but they ran it short.

I get plenty of incomplete things, normally they are cheaper and honestly with older stuff people will take disk only copies.

i'll get them disc only, if its mint and I want to play the game, and the price is right or I know I can make a decent profit ($15+)

There are probably only 2 games I'd actually even consider buying incomplete, Suikoden 2 and Valkyrie Profile. Even then I'd still make sure to get a complete copy as soon as possible.

I only care about completeness on games in DVD cases, but even then I really don't care about the manual and do fine without the case (but prefer it).

Like most people here, cartridges are okay loose, but if ti's a disc, it's almost always gotta be complete... I think the only non-complete disc game I have is Darkstalkers 3 for PS1, and all that's missing is the outer cover of the booklet.
