I'm looking one for the computer mainly as it is cheaper. But how would I go about installing it if I alrady have a CD disk tray and DVD disk tray installed onto my computer?

I would check your local staples and office max/depot's clearance tables.

I recently got a 12x dvd burner (32x cd burn) for 29.99

as for installing it, the drive itself should come with an instruction pamphlet

If you already have both of your cd trays in use, then you need an external one, you should know this, about the price, in office max they come out with new rebates every week, so if this week theres nothing you like wait until next week.

He doesnt need an external one because he could just take out his dvd-rom and replace it with the burner.

yea that is the problem both of the drivers CD and DVD I use mainly well I don't really watch movies on my computer from DVDs anyhow but CD driver is a must of course, will I still be able to burn CDs if I replace the drive over with a DVD burner?

I highly reccomend the NEC drive. I have one and haven't burned a bad backup yet. All you need to do is replace the cd drive in your computer with the DVD burner. The dvd burner will do everything that your cd drive and dvd drive do for you right now. also you know you can put normal cd's in your dvd drive right? you wouldn't be the first person i have talked to that didn't know that. i would not remove the dvd drive because for burning dvd's it will be much more convenient to have the second dvd drive.

Just bought the NEC 3520A from Newegg this Sunday and it'll be here soon. Also a 50 pack of Taiyo Yuden 4x DVD+R and 150 RiData 4x DVD+R's. The Taiyo Yuden are supposed to be the highest quality blank DVDs (both +/-) and the RiData by Ritek are supposed to be pretty reliable. I'll report back how it is.

staind204- ridata 8x 4.7 gb dvd+r spindle (100) discs $30.54-free shipping after $15.00 mail in rebate ends 3-31-05 at amazon.com

Another vote for the NEC Drive. I bought one from New Egg on Sunday and it just came today! I've just tried it and it burns on media that my old Pioneer drive had problems with, and it will read discs that my old pioneer wouldn't.
best buy has a sale going on right now for a plextor 16 x dual layer dvd burner for 46 bucks after rebates.
No offence, but I think rebates suck. Most of the time you don't get them for some reason or another. And if you do it takes weeks, if not months. Also I've been burned (by higher prices) a lot by buying computer parts at best buy. Though that does look to be an alright deal though if you actually get the rebates.

This is off topic, but I just ordered this case from newegg. My power blew up on me on my old case. What do you guys think of my choice? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-105-115&depa=1
