Cheapest Price on Seasons 2-4 of Farscape.

CAGiversary!
Well, yesterday I managed to find the season 1 box set of Farscape which normally goes for $115 or so at BB for $30. Now I was wondering if there were any place that has the other three for cheap also.

check your email, it probably got cancelled and they sent you a 5$ off coupon that expires in 2 weeks.

$30??!! Holy crap! And Grico found it for $28? Damn, I'm heading to my Best Buy today to look for this. I've been thinking about picking this set up when the DDD 20% sale goes off, and figuring it would still run me $70-80.

Hiccup, out of curiosity, did your Best Buy have the other sets in stock? Were they all still over $100?

You would almost be better off just getting the Starburst Editions at the DDD sale. They should only be about 36 after discount and they have some extra features. Only Season 1 is out right now though, But It looks like they will slowly be re-realesing the whole series 3 vols per season for 15 each. With some extras including commentary tracks not in the regular editions.

They indeed had the other three in stock but they came up normal prices of $114 or something like that.

What are these Starburst Editions that you speak of? I don't really understand what you mean by they are re-releasing the whole series 3 volumes per season for $15 each.

If they are just releasing the dvds individually now, I'd rather just have them complete in a box set and I think the extras that they've included in the box set are actually pretty good. Commentary doesn't really bug me as I very rarely watch commentary.

Alot of detailed information. Looking on Amazon some say it's a better transfer other's say it's probably the same but basically the set is 3 normal sized DVD Cases 2 discs each with about 7 eps per volume.

And as I stated. They are currently re-realesing the entire series with these Starburst Editions there will be three 2-Disc Sets per season it looks like. For a Total of 12 so works out to be about 180 bucks for the entire series not including PK Wars.

This does seem like a cool thing. Lots of extras if you're into that sort of thing, but also less shelf space taken up (I believe the Season One set is 11 discs by itself, whereas the Starburst releases will total 12 discs for the entire series) and cheaper, as long as they all release for around $15. In that case, you'd be spending about $45 per season instead of $115. (Even the DDD 20% off sale only takes season sets down to $72)

All that being said, if you don't mind the bulkier packaging, and missing out on all those extras $30 for the entire Season One set is still a better price. I'm still going to go to Best Buy to look for that deal, but now I'll be keeping an eye on future Starburst releases for Seasons 2-4.

Drahken, do you know if the Starburst sets have the episodes in order? In other words, do the three Starbursts for Season One go eps 1-7, eps 8-14, eps 15-22? Also, do you know what the release schedule is for future Starburst sets? Will they be coming out every 3 months, 6 months, whatever?

From what i've read each set contains 2 double sided discs. So there will be a total of 24 discs, 48 sides. The next vol is due out 06/21/05. I think the last one came out in march. So it seems to be just about every 3 months or so. As for the extra's the old sets do contain alot of extras and these contain all those and a bit more. Doubt it's a enough to be worth a double dip for some but the low price is a good incentive to finaly get the series for those who don't have it like me. It appears to be 7, 7, 8 for episodes per set and if they didn't put them in order they would have to be freakin morons.

You're right- I said 12 discs; I meant 12 cases. I believe each Starburst set has the 2 discs in one case. Unless I'm wrong again, which would not leave me stunned.

Also, you're right that they'd have to be morons to put the episodes out of order, but I just wasn't sure if the Starburst sets started out as a "Best Of" type compilation that sold well and so became expanded, or if the plan was always to release the whole series this way. I've actually never even seen a single episode of Farscape, but from everything I've heard and read about the series, the DVDs have been on my wanted list for a long time now. I just wanted to make sure when I watch the shows, I'm watching them in order. By the way, thanks for the info.

The Starburst dvds are essentially the R2 versions brought to the US. The R2 releases had a bunch of extras that the US ones didn't. At least that's what I heard. But damn, I thought they were 25 bucks apiece, if they're 15 I'm gonna have to start buyin em even sooner.

Yeah, it's a sweet price, and if you can hold out for the DDD 20% off sales, it gets even sweeter. They have the first 3 Starburst sets for $15 each, so with the sale they become $12. If all the releases stay at that price, you could get a full season for $36 instead of the $100+ they've always been.
