Hey Cheapy,...

I just had 2 Logitech XBox cordless controllers in my cart, at Buy.com.

I tried to apply the $5 off coupon.

It took.

Then at the checkout screen, it told me that I had already used the coupon. So I called.
Some Indian woman answered.
I told her that I had never used the site before, and that the coupon wasn't working.

She proceeded to take my email address.

A minute later, my cart empties.
The woman is silent.
I tell her what happened,... and she tells me that the coupon won't work without putting items in my cart.

I told her that the items were just removed, and she asked me if I'd like to purchase them over the phone,...........for $2.95 more.

I said I'd just put them back in my cart.

Well,.............. I search the site, while still on the phone, and WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

The price goes from $35.99 to $40.99!!!!!!

She tells me to put them in my basket.
I told her that I was a reviewer for one of their affiliates,... and that I would be reporting her actions to my readers.

She got all snotty, and told me that she did nothing wrong.

What a FAQing LIAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Please investigate this site.

I recommend NEVER dealing with these shysters again.

Sorry at first I thought he was mistaking the discounted price for the regular price... and thus going off for nothing... I still think he shouldn't have lied about his relationship to this site though.
 
Sounds like a weird glitch at a weird time. I haven't purchased anything there in a few years and had nothing but good experiences (even one with a return). Who knows maybe something is up with them and they have turned to scamming people.

yeah it comes up the right price when I add it to my cart.... I don't see why she'd go to the effort of changing the price just for you, or how that would even work.
 
They can change prices at any time they want. You should read their terms page.... hell, all online shopping sites.

hehe not as bad as the time i wanted a videocard from a site and then say they have the cheapest price. Im like im looking at it cheaper on newegg right now. The guy with the accent is like ok ill call you back. So i wait 10 minutes to hear him say that they lowered the price and i can get it for .01 cent less :roll: Im like WTF!!!! So i eventually found me a good Geforce 5900 for like 180.
Now i wouldnt care but back then i didnt have a credit card so i bought a prepaid one for the price of the card i wanted and they canceled my order 3 days later saying i could pick one of their other low prices cards :?
 
Just for the record I have never had an issue with Buy.com. Also, it is highly unlikely a customer call representative would ever have the ability to directly modify anything on the Web site's they represent, in real-time or otherwise. This includes emptying a shopping cart as alluded to by the OP. Outside of possibly filing a problem ticket with their I/T staff, the CSR staffs I have dealt with have neither the knowledge or the system privileges necessary to modify their employer's Web site.

Do not try to use CAG as leverage.
You just end up looking like an ass and making it harder for CheapyD to swing deals for us with these companies.

I'm not saying this is what went on...
this is just a general sanction and reminder for the CAG userbase at large.

Don't be a tool and make CheapyD look like a fool.

First off,.................... I did not mention CAG at all.
I didn't even link from here.

Second,................... I had $150 worth of stuff in my cart, and the controllers wouldn't register as GAME merchandise. There is a $10 off coupon, for $150, if you didn't know.

So,.....I called. An Indian man answered the phone.
He looked at the item, by given SKU, and told me that it was a PC hardware item.

I told him,... NO,... it's for the XBOX,... and that the XBox carrying case in my cart was registering as a GAME item.

He told me that I was wrong.

I figured,... hey,... they're cheap enough,... I'll just pay the $36 each.

Since I never used the site before,.... I figured I'd redeem the $5 off coupon.
That's where my OG post began.


I don't care that they are Indian.
I care that they used deceptive,... and seemingly illegal tactics, to repel my discount,... and ultimately up the original price.

I post as many deals as I can find.
I also help people out with finding items that they can't get, ... for no cost but the shipping.

I am not home at the times all of you school girls are,.... so it's hard for me to participate in the OTT community.
I'm not a TROLL, or a LURKER. I work 13+ hours a day, and I'm blocked at work. :(
I was even declined from the Halo2 CAG clan, because I wouldn't be home for practice/matches.


The whole reason I mentioned being a reviewer is,... as anyone might think,.... to scare the girl into fixing the problem. When 2 Indian people answer phones at 1 place,.... and have the power to alter the inventory,....... it usually means that they are partners or owners.

Saying that my site was an affiliate, I thought, would most definitely have an impact.

Also,........... I write reviews for 2 different sites, when I have time.
My wife is a music reviewer as well.
I could have easily mentioned her sites. She has had 2 reviews printed in Rolling Stone over the last year and a half.
The SITE wasn't important,.... it was just an attempt to motivate the girl to do the right thing.


Really,............. I expected less flak.


It matters not,..... I'll never buy an item from them again,... cheapest or not.
I bought my controllers at Best Buy tonight, for $72,.... and even snagged the last of the limited EA versions,.... which look AMAZING next to my Crystal XBox.

Illegal tactics? Your discount? Just because they classified something as PC hardware doesn't make it illegal, strange but not illegal. Secondly the original price didn't jump, I just checked and it's still the price it's always been.

That's very nice of you, I'd expect a bit more patience from a man as kind and generous as you wish to be known. Perhaps you simply could have waited an hour and attempted the deal again? I assure you the controller prices are the same as they always have been and perhaps the next customer service representative would have been a bit more helpful.

When I saw the ridiculous shipping prices, I opted out.

Then..... I checked the main page.
The only coupon linked, is the $5 off one.
So,... off to Froogle I went.
BANG!!! $10 off.

I hope you know,......... I appreciate Cheapy D for all that he has done,........ and more so, the people who are posting their deals.
Unfortunately,... CAG is not the authority. If I find something at another site, I'm going to use it.

Froogle has been a usefull tool for me,.... and I personally, it is much better than the CAG O Matic.
I'm not going to pit them against each other,.... but I will say,.............. STFU!!!

I'll shop where I please, and I'll beotch about whatever I'd like. I figured Cheapy would know if the site has ever done similar things.

I just ASS-U-ME-D, that this was a small online retailer, operating out of some refurbished warehouse, doing mainly dropships, and riding out some banks loan, until they went under, or were bought out. You know,... like 95% of all GENERIC small businesses.

Finally,... considering half of my wifes' family are from India, and all own their own websites,.... I know how they run things. ALL FAMILY,.... ALL THE TIME!!!! Owned, and worked by the same people.

First let me clarify about buy.com/ . They use to be express.com/ and before that they may have been another name. All I remember was that when I used the original site they had the BEST prices for Anime and now they're complete SHIT compared to what they use to be and it's a damn shame honestly.
They get big and try to screw you. shakes head. Well they get big than taken over and screw you.
