Check out the sick Ebay auction I just won... (Pics added!)
What part is stupid? The part where I resell some of the stuff and make all of my money back and profit, or the part where I paid much less than what the items are currently selling for?
None of the above. It would be the fact that anyone would pay anything like that for outdated material.

The level of ignorance, especially here at CAG, in regards to value of games from previous generations astounds me. If it doesn't have a moogle or a pre-teen with a gigantic gun/sword on the cover, it must not be worth money.

Ignore them all OP, whether or not one guy is arguing with you, doesn't mean you just didn't score an awesome deal. Plus I doubt continuining this argument would prove your points rather than making you both look childish...
Plus I doubt continuining this argument would prove your points rather than making you both look childish...
I agree, I really do. My only real argument was that the value of collectors items are all a matter of opinion. Some people will pay more than others. Comic books, toys, antiques, it's all the same concept. It's not the same as a retail value which includes the cost of materials and manpower to create the product.

Yet opinion was what he was shooting down, and I think that's quite hypocritical.

Damn nice find. I only paid $8 for the SSSC guide because it was missing two of the memory card stickers but I was ready to spend that much last summer for the EBC guide when the prices were near what you paid for all of that but had a little financial trouble elsewhere so I didn't. I don't really collect guides much but Lunar is my favorite series so I think you came out very well.

I suppose you only like songs that are only on the radio too ;)

I quoted you in my post because I was responding to what you said. "The point is that we don't care," refers to the fact that you think we don't know the value of the games. We know the value, and we still think it's stupid. That's all I was saying.

Stop saying "we" like you are talking for all of CAG, moron. Say "I" because that is what you mean. I think it's ridiculous that a couple of idiots are piling on this guy just because they "don't care" when he posted in the bragging forum where it belongs. This is the second time I've seen this happen this week, fuck off assholes!

Lot of money for these 2 RPG's. Now I wish I had kept them. Oh well.
Strategy guides going for so much is what shocks me, as these are relatively easy games.

People want the guides 'cause they're collectible, not for the strategy itself. If people just wanted to complete the game, they'd be sensical and get the info from gamefaqs.

Nice find OP!

Forgetting PS1, PS2 or Playstation in your auction title= $150 in this case
Exploiting that fact and getting expensive stuff for cheap= priceless

Why? Because they have a bunch of stickers? Pffft.

But, OP, if you are happy, then that's all that matters.

I'm pretty sure you're the only one who thought I was speaking for all of CAG. I was speaking for the few people who were surprised at how much he paid for everything. I like how you can't speak without an insult. That's style, my friend.

Anyhow, I think the whole point was missed. I don't understand how anything was perceived as an attack. Comments will be comments.

X2! and funny sig!

Where the fuck do these people come from?

If you are a collector, it's a great deal because the games are in fantastic shape, and the guides are near impossible to find in good condition.

If you are an entrepeneur, it's a great deal because it'd be pretty easy to relist or part out and make $80-100 with little hassle.

I'd not only brag about that, but brag about the auction time - it lasted 10 minutes, and I guarantee if he hadn't bought it that auction wasn't going to last 10 more minutes.

For the people that don't understand the value of things, stop displaying your ignorance. For the people pretending they know the value of things, please stop arguing semantic bullshit.

Gee, EB has Gameday 2004 on sale for 2.99 right now! For that 110 he could have gotten 36 games instead of just 2 and 2 guides! What a fucking noob!

Gimme a break.

Dave

Okay, I have now realized this auction is Lunar related, but the OP's link isn't working for me...can someone give me the gist of it? (A lot of you know how I love me some Lunar!)

(Oh, and it's brag-worthy to note that a few years ago, EB was clearancing out the Lunar EB guides, and I walked away with five of them....for $6 each! )

what could one man do with 36 copies of gameday? Nice find OP im jealous i only have 3 of the 4 listed in the auction..the only thing that made up for my EBC loss was picking up the Vangaurd Bandits hardcover guide for 20 bucks when it was out.

not bad at all!...I won't spill how much I paid for minties on these ( just the games mind you, but it was definitely less than half that)

If I still have their contact info, I can slip it your way- thousand arms, persona, and more...at least, he had them eight months ago. Lord knows what times done since then.

.......................rub them on my balls, 'cuz that's all they good for
Both games (with everything) and both guides for $110.

Awwwww shit now Rig's up in here. Disperse, bitches!

Dave
Nicely done OP. I wasn't sure what you had done when I read some of the posts in here, but wow, you came out like a bandit. Are you actually planning on keeping the games and guides, or are you reselling? (Play them! They are fantastic!)

I don't see why the OP is getting bashed. It was a good find at a reasonable price.

I probably paid more then $110 for both games and the strategy guides when they were originally released at retail a few years ago (probably around $130 after CA taxes)... the value has only gone up since then, especially for desperate Lunar fans.

But the OP is missing one thing that keeps that collection from being complete... the auction he won didn't come with the Ghalleon punching pupping that was a pre-order bonus at EB.

Actually, I already own both games! Lunar: SSSC is one of my favorite PS1 rpgs, for sure. I'm currently playing through EB and I'm currently in the holy city. Needless to say, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game. As for that auction, I plan on keeping everything included in that auction and selling off all of my far-from-mint Lunar items. In fact, I've already got a Lunar: SSSC guide. I basically won that auction for the EB guide. :p
You hurt my heart...
i'm sorry. maybe you can go to the doctor and get it fixed. it's too bad you can't afford it since you spent $123 on 2 video games. :)

That is pretty expensive, KingofGames. I bought 7 PS2 games, 1 N64 game, and 1 PSX game for $100 this week.

It's your money and the US is a free country. ;)

Great deal. Getting your hands on complete Lunar games these days is tough. I wanna play Lunar 1 because I loved Lunar 2 so much, but finding it these days is tough.

Lunar 1/2 together complete were practically worth the $110 as they go for $40-$50 complete. The guides were just icing on the cake. Great deal, hope the seller pulls through for you.

He seems like a trustworthy guy. I'm sure the items will get here. More than anything, I'm worried about the condition of the items, seeing as he is a new trader. The way I see it though, everyone has got to start somewhere.
What 7 PS2 games did you buy?
Amplitude, Sly Cooper, Arc the Lad, Dark Cloud 2, Phantom Brave, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, and Ico. All unopened. ;)

Wow, that's certainly a good deal. Where'd you manage to nab all of those at those prices? Is Phantom Brave the limited edition with soundtrack?

I don't know which one Phantom Brave is because I haven't received it yet. Even if it isn't, I only paid $12.50 for it.

I bought the first three at a local store, the next three on ebay, and the last one at K-Mart. The guy on ebay has a few more on auction. I think I posted the link around here somewhere...

i'm sorry, i can't believe people have actually been arguing about whether or not this was a good deal for the last 5 pages. you have to be completely clueless if you don't realize this was an awesome deal.

The whole reason why they are so limited is becaue of the lackluster sales. I'm pretty sure that's why the Arc the Lad 3 guide was cancelled. :whistle2:(

Just received the goods... :)

These things are MINT. I couldn't possibly imagine more mint items that aren't new. Pics will be posted later for all of you doubters.

I rmember way back when at a Circuit City and they had Lunar brand spanking new, and not just one copy either. I didn't even care for collecting back then, so I passed. What a fool I am!

Congrats... i'm really glad 1) you got them, since it was a new ebay seller and 2) they were mint... i just wish i had spotted this deal before you!

Can't wait for you to post the pics!

Now, it would be horribly, horribly ironic if WD announced a new re-release of these games, thus causing the price to plummet... but since that's not going to happen, good job! I'd love to find the Lunar guides, but it'd have to be crazy cheap, since I'd only want them for art value...

And I got the punching puppet, so there! *insert slightly-jealous taunt here*
