kinda like mechwarrior.

More like Steel Battalion without the controller. Slower paced, tactical game with an emphasis on teamwork. Also, it'll have an online campaign/story mode similar to what Steel Battalion had. Really looking forward to this game. It should more than hold me over until Mechassault 3.

Its from the company that brought us Armored Core. Its a completely different game, but one similarity will be that the mechs are completely customizable. You can build your own, you're not just modifying a pre-set type. It should be a very deep game.

I'm all for mech games (especially when you can customize the mech,) but those visuals are pretty bad. Doesn't look that far off from Steel Battalion. This is for the 360, right?

Are they making a Mechassault 3 for the 360? I could've sworn I read somewhere that they didn't think the second one sold well enough to make a third.

i think they are letting that franchise die with number 2 which was a big pile of shit imo.

a mech game is just an arcade shooter without the customization. that's what was so disappointing about MA2...that and the horrendous multiplayer setup.

I think I heard the same thing. MA1 was so damn good. Man I played "Not It!" for hours with my homies on LIVE. MA2 was a complete abortion.

Hopefully Chromehounds can give us some good times.

hmmm u sure about that? steel batallion? the way the mechs move makes me think more mechwarrior. And remember, I said mechwarrior, not mech assault ;)

it's good to have something from them that's not Armored Core. I love that game to an extent but it hasnt changed at all and the controls are way too stiff. I'm still skeptical any game can beat Virtual On in this category still to this day.

it is strange to kill this franchise. its a perfect concept for micro transactions.
200 ms points for cannon upgrades
300 ms points for armor upgrades
250 for missile upgrades
this list goes on

I hear its in the early planning stages, but you didn't hear it from me. Don't expect to even hear about it anytime soon.

Mechassault 2 was a steaming pile of shit. Mechassault 1 was an excellent game and still one of the better Live games to this day. It was the #1 played Live game until Halo 2 came out. I was a serious Mechassault/Mech 2 player and Mech 2 really, really sucked. Mech selection and a few other changes from Mech 1 were what really set people off. They tried to make the game simpler and easier for new players, since the biggest complaint about Mech 1 was its steep learning curve. Big mistake.
I thought the MA/FASA team was doing the Shadowrun game next and the mechs were taking a rest for a while.
FASA studios is working on Shadowrun. Day 1 Studios did Mechassault/Mech 2 and would be doing Mech 3. Day 1 is actually making another game first, it would seem. But it would seem that this would be 2nd or 3rd in line behind that.
