Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - Demo Now On XBLM

It wouldn't make any sense for them to make it backwards compatible, they'd rather sell it for $60.00 new, then have someone buy it for $10.00 used elsewhere.

I'd hope it wasn't full price considering it's a glorified remake. That said, depending on how good The Darkness is, I may or may not get this. Never got around to playing the Xbox game but I heard a bunch of good stuff about it.

That said, if any game was going to get remade for next-gen consoles, I wish it would have been Deus Ex. I would easily pay $60 to play Deus Ex 1.5 built on an engine like UE3 or something similar.
Hoping it's fake. There were some really weak textures and models in there... clearly unchanged from the Xbox or PC versions.
well it is a port of an already decent looking title.
Four seems a little quick, but six seems about right. For a game with almost no replayablitiy and no multiplayer, it was a rip-off.
It had replayabilty much like the original Mario Bros; just wisking through the levels was pretty fun.

I don't see how, unless we can see Riddick's PORES, that the game could get any more gorgeous.

Then again, I played it on a well-equipped PC.

Sweet! A 360 port of a 3+ year old FPS whose gameplay, by 2007 standards, is nothing special. Awesome! Good to know that my $400 Xbox 360 is gonna be put to good use, playing higher res versions of games I could find in the GameStop bargain bin for $7.

Wow, VanillaGorilla complaining about a game!? I never thought I'd see the day!

That's, like, your opinion, man.

A really shitty opinion.

If you ask me - and I just did - Starbreeze adding another campaign and multiplayer warrants the full price. In other words: Not just an upscaled port.

This isn't the appropriate title to get your bold point across.
Wow, VanillaGorilla complaining about a game!? I never thought I'd see the day!
Do you ever see me complain about original games, that aren't shameless cash-in's with "another campaign" and phoned in multiplayer? Nope. Sorry, I would rather see developers create original, innovative products, instead of saying "Hey, remember that game we made 3 years ago? Let's add a new level, some deathmatch mode, and an extra layer of normal mapping, then charge people $60 for it!" This is the reason why I am always seemingly "defending" EA, everyone talks as if they are the only ones who pull crap like this, basically adding an expansion pack to 3 year old game, and charging people $60 for a "next generation" game.
Hey, have fun paying $60 for "another blah blah blah blah blah ajapsgsdgsdfkjfhlkjsdgsdg
I will.

I'm more than happy to pay $60 for a remake when it's for a game that's this good. If we were talking about a remake for something like Pariah or the forgettable flavor of the month, then obviously, that wouldn't be the case. But... VG will bitch about literally anything, so I suppose there's really not much of a point in reasoning.
Adding "50% more single player" is the FPS equivalent of a roster update. Congratulations, you are all hypocrites.
Uhm... c'mon, really? 50% more single player = a roster update? I'm not sure if you're that much of an EA apologist or if you're just really damn stupid.

So...

If 50% Campaign Addition + Multiplayer = Bad

and 50% Campaign Addition + Multiplayer = EA "Roster Update"

Then EA "Roster Update" = Bad

Who's the hypocrite?

care to explain or were you just trying to sound defiant?
care to explain or were you just trying to sound defiant?
Are they changing the core game, as in, the gameplay? If not, then you're really just getting new enemies to shoot at, and new halls to run down. How is that not different than new players to play with? If the gameplay is the same as it was THREE YEARS AGO, and you're just running into newer, flashier looking enemies, then that's the FPS equivalent of a roster update.

Still you, and anyone else who buys this game.

You know what, forget that new Wolfenstein game for the 360. They should just give Tides of War a next generation makeover, tack on a couple more single player levels, and a few new multiplayer maps. Why demand creativity and originality, when we can just keep playing the same games, just with newer graphics!?

It sounds like you kind of have a point VG but I don't know anything about how Madden is from year to year because I haven't played it. but one key difference is that madden has been coming out yearly forever and CoR is being remade once. Madden sounds like it gets expansion packs rather than a game built from the ground up. That's the other difference-- this is getting a significant amount of new content.

a whole multiplayer mode alone is a lot more than madden game could ever get.
a whole new campaign is something you usually expect in a sequel to a game, so already, it's obviously much more than the measly 9 hour game that first came out. there will probably be lots incremental changes, new weapons, etc.

not saying I'm above paying full price for an update to something I've already played the hell out of (Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Street Fighter) but this is not equal to madden coming out year after year and paying full price for it.
People on CAG paying full price for games?!?! I am shocked.
Yes, amazing isn't it?

But I'm sure you'll pay full price for MGS4. ;)
Yes, amazing isn't it?

MGS4? Bleh.

I should think that the amount of CAGs swearing to buy this game is more of a testament to the immense, juicy quality of Riddick 1 than anything else.

If enough people buy this game for full price at launch, it sends a message - there's a market out there! I'm guessing these games are cheaper to make, less of an initial investment with a proven I.P., smaller dev teams etc.

Basically, if Riddick does well (read $$), expect to see a lot more games like it. Can't really say if this is going to be a good thing or a bad thing, only time will tell.

There comes a point at the highest tier of games (which this falls in - it was that original and good) where one remake / upgrade/whatever is perfectly fine. And its not on the same console either, its a whole new generation. So we are talking about a really high quality game, with significant new content (new single player and multiplayer, yessir) added, and something that a lot of people this gen might not have played. Plus I would be really surprised if it was $60. And I'm sure the overall dev time is smaller, so its not like we are missing out on a solid, complete 360 game to play because the guys are working on this instead. So.. whats the problem?

Also don't overlook the commentary guys (which was on the PC version, hopefully they make commentary for the new single player content too). Its not like a little video clip extra they like to throw in those lame ass limited edition disks to make extra money. Its more like a DVD commentary except you experience it as you play through the game. Like, as you progress through the game you'll see little icons or blips or whatever (there are a whole lot too) where you can click on it and a commentary piece will play for that spot you are in, say some info about the story there, programming technique used to make something happen there, wtfever (theres a lot of different stuff). Mostly audio, could be some video or other stuff that comes up. Some of it is pretty interesting.

Oh I pay full price for many games. I'm not like you guy's. Hell I am going to buy a import copy of Ninja Gaiden Sigma just so I can play it early even though it's only like 1-2 weeks early. While also buying an North American copy just to keep.

I like getting good deals and all but they don't get in the way of the way I live my life. Unlike most people on the CAG forums.

Uh, I hate to break it to you but a lot of us buy import systems, games, and such at full price.

Mommy lied to you, you're not special.

Not many people on here buy imports... I still think they're in the minority, they're just vocal.

Imports are for fags who like reading that squiggle shit anyway, so fuck them.

I don't know, games maybe... but consoles are pretty high on the CAG import list. The Nintendo DS Lite was being imported by fags left and right.

My point is that lots and lots of CAGs buy games at full price. I know you're one of them Chacrana.

Anyone seen or heard any updates on this? I was tempted to sell my XBOX and I have the original game that I haven't yet played wondering if I should sell it now and wait for this one but since they haven't mentioned anything on this in a long while I'm weary that It may be canceled.
I'm gonna guess it was secretly canceled.......
I've got that feeling also. They showed off the Wheelman awhile back, but no where in the interviews did they mention Chronicles at all. I bet if it doesn't get brought up this next E3, it's probably been canceled.

Last year, it was rumored Diesel and (David) Twohy were trying to buy back the rights to the Riddick character from Universal.

I imagine they thought they'd relaunch the franchise and use the game as a pillar to do so. If they were unsuccessful at the buy back, I don't think the game will see the light of day.
