(a game which is almost five years old at this point and which can be purchased for $10 or less used), but the actual new game is not very good, how does that translate into 70s, 80s and 90s?
I respect your opinion, but
1) While the game can be purchased for $10 used, how many people still have their original Xbox? The game was never made backwards compatible for the 360 so unless you expect people to purchase both the game and a $50 system, I think it's kind of a moot point
2) The game translates into 80s from what I've read (I've read about 5 reviews all the way through) because while some people think Dark Athena doesn't live up to EFBB, only a handful of the reviews I've read outright dislike it. In fact, off the top of my head I can remember Wired, GameInformer, and Gaming-Age raving about both titles in the package. It seems more the case that most reviewers just think it doesn't live up to its prequel, but still has its own merits - for example, the Pitch Black multiplayer mode has been venerated in every review I've read as has the visuals, the voice acting, and the amount of content you're getting. Even 1Up who, from the wording alone could be argued to have disliked it, still gave it a favorable rating presumably because EFBB was enough to make it worth buying.
I've never played EFBB, but I enjoyed the Dark Athena demo. If *that's* the lesser of the two parts of the game, I have no reservations paying $40 for both games. Of course, I know not everyone feels the same, but i just thought i'd share my 2 cents.
