Circuit City is cheapass gaming heaven right now!

CAGiversary!
I'm sure that most of you have already seen these deals posted on the main page, BUT!...

...most of them show that they are SOLD OUT on Circuit City's website!

Still, there is hope!

I went into my local Circuit City yesterday to see if they still had any of the following games in stock that were advertised cheap on this website, but were sold out on THEIR website. I found the following (all for PS2, btw)-

Alter Echo- Priced @ $20, but rang up for $10
Breath Of Fire: Dragon Quarter- Priced @ $30, but rang up for $10
Tenchu: Wrath Of Heaven- Priced @ 40, but rang up for $15
Wild Arms 3- Priced @ $30, but rang up for $10
Zone Of The Enders: The 2nd Runner- Priced @ $30, but rang up for a cool $15!

And lastly, for you Gamecube owners...

I found a copy of Resident Evil: RE pricemarked @ $30, but ringing up for $20! I brought this up to them, on the wim, that as it was an older game, it would probably ring up cheaper than marked. I was right!

I dropped a little less than $90 (after tax), but walked out with 6, count 'em, SIX!, "decent to good to GREAT!" games!!!

That averages out to less than $15 per game people!

The guy that scanned them for me even admitted that they had some Re-pricing to do! So, now is the time to hit Circuit City! Before they catch up with their pricing, and other shoppers SEE the bargains!

If you have a CC in your town, do as I did...

Start by searching their website games (even if they show that they are "out of stock"!), then compile a list of what you want. Go to the store and hunt them down. Take a pile of games up to a clerk, or register, regardless of the "marked" price, and have that person scan them. They should match the website price. @ least they have @ my local CC here in Springfield, MO.!

Don't waste another minute. Plan your strategy now as Black Friday's coming and after that, they may be GONE, due to all of the bargain shoppers!!!

~~When life gives you lemons, return 'em @ Wal-Mart for higher credit! LOL~~
Let me see if I understand this. I'm SO lost on this whole deal. Circuit City has a website. Circuity City is a retail store. :)

The stores often don't list their correct prices, because they don't keep up with their "move out" prices -- so you have to have them actually ring up the games? Huh? What? I'm so foncused.

~Dak
CC's marked prices are usually old. The prices in their computer system are current. Sometimes there are differences in the marked price and the price that the games scan at. For example, Gitaroo Man for PS2 is marked $39.99 at stores. However, that's an older price, and the price has changed since then. Since CC's computer system contains current prices, Gitaroo Man will scan at the latest price, which is $19.99. Hope that helps!

Actually I got confused myself, but do what I did. See what games we talk about that they have cheap. Get those games if they interest you, ask the guy to scan them for you to see their price....buy if they are cheap :) Sounds good?
I'm about to head down to cc right now. I'm hoping to pick up drome racers and wild arms 3. I'll report what they have. Maybe this store will have ico and the bouncer on clearance... HMMMMM....
Bouncer is unbelievably disappointing. Stay away at all costs.

Can somebody who bought Gitaroo-man do me a favor? I'm calling around my local citcuit cities for this game, but they can't look it up in their inventory unless they have the UPC (which isnt' on half.com).

Could someone just write the full UPC for me? thanks

I found two copies of the Jet Set Radio and Sega Gt combo for a cent each. Long live Circuit City!

While admitly alittle hard to get people to sell you things for a penny, once I laid down that that was the price online before it sold out, the lady obliged by selling it to me. What a great gift for some friends. 2 games per disk, 2 copies, 2 cents.

Hey, I noticed that CC isnt listing anymore low prices on their website, are any Xbox games still in the 4.96 price range? Do you suggest just bringin up games I want, scanning it, and then deciding if I want to buy it?

I was at CC today and they had these boxes called Game Cube couch assistance or something like that. I think they were left overs from some promo. Any way I grabbed one along with a few of the games and it rang up as a penny. All it ended up being was a bag of mirco popcorn, a energy drink, some coasters and a erasable dry board, all with nintendo logos. Nothing to get excited over, but for a penny, its worth it ;)

I knew that Circuit City's prices marked on the games were too high, but now I know that there's some good deals to be found from having them scanned. I think I'll go this weekend or something to my local CC, pick up Wipeout Fusion. Thanks.

By the by, this is off topic, but the same thing happens at Borders with their CDs and DVDs: the prices change, but the employees don't have time to print out new stickers for them all, so the actual price tags never change. I used to pick up some sweet ass deals as an employee there.

Whenever you buy a DVd or CD at Borders, try to get them to type in the item code (BINC number) as that will call up the true price of the item. Scanning the sticker won't, as the price is coded into the sticker.
I bought Wreckless for $5 2 weeks ago, went to Circuit City today, tried to buy another one and it rang up for $20. Thought that it was strange that the price went up since it was non clearance game.
I went back by my local CC today and picked up two more copies of Wreckless for Xbox at $5 each (original green packaging). None of my local independent shops have it in stock, so I figured I might trade in a copy for credit.

Well, it wasn't quite a "cheapass break", but I finally found Stretch Panic. It was marked $50, but it rang up for $20. I figured I'd get it anyway. I've played better, but I've played much worse. Not bad, but I expected a bit more from Treasure.

I tried to see if Disaster Report was less than their $50 tag, but, nope, still asking that much for it. I'm sure it's cheaper elsewhere.

Best Buy sells Disaster Report for $20...not a bad game, certainly not like anything i've played...it gets points for uniqueness.

I have a theory as to why cc games are not repriced by their employeess. Most games are in those clear plastic cases and the price stickers are on the actual game within the case. Every time there is a price change, they have to crack open those cases for each and every game. Sounds like a big pain in the ass to me! If the games aren't selling they sit on the shelves for a lonnnnnnng time. Pretty bad for business if you ask me, but good news for us cheap ass gamers!! I have noticed that newer games now have cases which leave the fronts of the games exposed, so deals like these at cc may become fewer in the future :(

Circuit City's online search seems to kinda suck -- there are next to no GameCube games that're cheap online, to have Circuity City ring up the games locally in order to buy. :(

~Dak

That's because all of the cheap Gamecube games on their site have been sold out for a few weeks and have been removed from the site.

Somebody may have already said this, but I don't feel like reading all 12 pages of this thread to make sure:

Jsrf/Sega GT (xbx) $.01

A penny. Now thats cheap(ass)

we all know that. im not trying to be mean just saying. also i bought me Wave Race Blue Storm. Don't got my GCN with me right now tho.

I figured. The best thing about the one penny jsrf is the sticker price of $99.99, I remember seeing that about six months ago and thinking "Who the hell are they kidding? You can get this for five bucks at gamestop!" Little did I know I'd someday be cleaning the shelf of them for less than a dime.

Just bought me;

1. Makuroma
2. Freaky flyers
3. Mario party (e-reader)
4. excitebike (e-reader)
5. wreakless

FOR $28 AHHHHHHHHHHHH

went to circuit city today and heres what i got

1x Wreckless - Xbox $4.96
1x Red Faction 2 Xbox - 14.96
2x JSRF Xbox - $4.96 each
1x Shenmue II xbox - $9.96
1x Breath of Fire DQ PS2 - $9.96

-I was looking for capcom vs. snk2, but they didn't have any, the guy said they had 3 in, but he checked the back and i looked all over the floor but no luck. Im going to try another circuit city first thing after taking my final tomorrow.

circuit City stores, at least the ones I visit, tend to be very disorganized in their game section

Recent purchases I've made from them that were nowhere near where they were supposed to be in the store:

x2 Wolverines revenge for gamecube =I found it between a couple of hockey games . All five copies of the game that were in the store or sandwich between the hockey games, so this wasn't a customer putting something back they didn't want, the rather some idiot actually filed them that way

Capcom vs. SNK 2 for xbox = I found it behind Pirates of the Caribbean, both which were located in the D section of the xbox section for some reason

Alter double packbox = it was with the PS/2 games of the same name, although walking around the store ,After I picked up my copy ,I did see they had a separate display for the xbox version.

Sega GT/jet set radio future double pack for xbox = was sandwiched between two copies of the original Sega GT . According to the employee, they had other copies in stock, which were obviously not located anywhere near the copy I found. He also said he didn't know they were allowed to sell them -- go figure ;-)

Murakumo for the xbox = was exactly where it was supposed to be. I know, I'm as shocked as you are ;-)
however, I did see other copies of the game in other parts of the game section, so I just got lucky.

The moral of the story is, be prepared to dig through every single game on the shelf to get what you want if you're shopping a circuit City store after you have an employee Confirm the game is actually in stock -- which they can do on the computer.

Called my dad, since he was wanting Wave Race (and I'm stuck at work). He got it for $10. The guy was all pissed when my dad handed him a stack of games to check prices on, and then got humbled when all the prices were wrong. Hea.

Nice to have a 60 yr/old dad that plays games. ;)

Amen to that, Brotha!

All of my deals were scattered throughout the game section. Almost none of them were where you'd think they should be. I too had to flip through every freakin game in that store to find the ones I wanted.

It was worth it!

The circuit city by me has no filing system what so ever. The closes they have to organization was separating the new releases in a glass case. That’s it. All the games are just thrown about. So you have to look behind games and go through every section. Good thing I found games like BoF, ZOE2, Pride, and Freaky flyers. Its just horrible. Was there an hour just trying to find games.

I flipped through every single xbox game they had and 3/4 of the ps2 section to get the games I wanted, so worth it, however they thought I was a little weird going through every game. Screw em! 10 games for less that $100!

I went to two circuit cities tonight (and a best buy that had no strategy guides).

I got ZOE2, wreckless, murakumo, crush hour, and drome racers.

I had gotten a bunch of penny JSRF/Sega GT's at a different CC a few nights ago and this one had four copies so I figured I'd try, and to my amazement the clerks head was not up his ass and he wouldnt sell them.

What I'm wondering is, why are they on the shelf? Wouldnt they just keep them with the xboxes?

Also, has anyone tried the Star Wars/Tetris combo? I saw that one too but didnt have the nerve after he was wise to the Jet set scam.

Hold the phone!

I went back to my local CC AGAIN to pick up Red Faction GC, GunGrave, and Drome Racers (GBA) (my third Cheap Ass Trip!), and to my amazement, the vast majority of the clearance priced games had been moved to a bin and PRICED CORRECTLY!!

Most of the $4.99 and $9.99 games were in these bins and I could tell they were starting to disappear rather quickly. There are a few exceptions.

Game Cube games were still in section (but priced correctly). The GBA Drome Racers (good game, btw) was in section and priced at $24.99. Shinobi for PS2 was still in section at $29.99. Pretty much all of the rest of the deals were in the bin, though.

If this is a chain-wide crack down on these clearance games, you may want to get any you were on the fence about, since I doubt they will last long at all when priced correctly.

Also, I noticed RTX Red Rock for PS2 was also priced at $9.99.

I stopped at my local CC and opicked up Sega NBA2k3 for the Xbox for $9.99. I did not see this on the list.

i tried the star wars/tetris disc, but it was ringing up at $99.99, i guess the sega gt/jsrf combo was also $99.99 back then, but since the star wars disc replaced it the sega gt disc was suppose to be sent back so it was marked down to a penny.

A little off subject but, the SW/Tetris set was 38.00 a few weeks ago at BB then I went back there and it was 69.00!?

Heres another point. No store should be selling them at any price because they say "Promotional-Not for Resale" on them. Can they get in trouble for that? And once again, why the hell do they keep them on the shelves if they are not going to sell them to people?

Hey Alfred what state are you in?

Also, if you get to some of these bins on time it may be a good thing because there may some games we didn't know about. I mean, I already have all the games that were listed here so maybe we'll discover a few more this way (as it seems you already have).

Even though they may go fast, we should make a new list.

I am in Upstate South Carolina. Greenville, to be exact.

Other than RTX Red Rock, I did not take notice of anything *good* in the bin. Don't get me wrong, there was a ton of stuff in there, but my eyes just glance over sports titles and the majority of PS2 games without a second thought. I was looking for specific games or anything else that caught my eye so I did not really notice anything specific that wasn't already on the list.

CC in MD (Across from Arundel Mills Mall) still has a decent selection of cheap games. Last week I picked up Tiger Woods 2003 (Great game) and Jet Set Radio Future/Sega GT 2002 for .01. There is also copies of Wreckless available, as well as some of the other ones.
Take Care,
Matthew
