Circuit City Price Match question

CAGiversary!
If I'm doing a price match at Circuit City, does the item have to be in stock at the competitor's store? (Staples, in my case.) Or is it enough if I have the sales circular showing the lower advertised price?

By the rules of any store's PM policy, the item has to be in stock at the time the PM is attempted.

In practice, not everywhere calls to check on it. The BB's in my area are very anal about following up on it, while the CC's in my area tend not to worry about it, unless it's a big one (like the $19.99 GC FNR2/KOTOR2 debacle).

That has been my experience as well. Some stores will call to check, others won't bother. Big time YMMV, it depends on the mood of your cashier basically. Although I suspect they are less likely to check if it is something obvious, like a Best Buy ad. But if you bring in an ad for JoJo's Game Shack, like some random local place, they'll probably go ahead with the phone call. But again, it's always YMMV as far as how close the employees will stick to policy.

If you can, PM at Wal-Mart. I've done it numerous times, including getting Ace Combat 5 for $5, and they called no one. Of course, YMMV.

EDIT: Of course, at WM you won't be getting the 10% discount.
