Circuit City stores to close - deals to be had?

"Circuit City says it plans to close four stores each in Michigan and Ohio; three stores in Illinois; two each in Texas and Indiana; and one each in Wisconsin, Kansas, Tennessee and Virginia."

Article states that stores will be closed by end of the month and they must need to empty out their inventory. I empathize with the employees but there's something in the following article that makes me sick:

PUEBLO, Colo. — A small jet crashed in freezing drizzle as it approached the Pueblo airport Wednesday, killing all eight people aboard, including four employees of retailer Circuit City, authorities said.

Circuit City officials in Richmond said four of those aboard were company employees but none were executives. The company released no other details pending notification of next of kin.

— The Associated Press

As if it matters that none of the employees were executives - what a fuckin insult

yeah, no big deal to them. as long as they weren't executives.l (thats the way the corporate world is. the executives are the slave masters and the employees are the slaves which are expendable. they'll just hire 4 more people) yes, that is pretty dispicable.

I know people at CC, and I know of the people who died. I also know people who worked with and were friends with the people who lost their lives.

No one at CC, despite what is written in the newspaper, is trivializing any of this. They are devistated.

They were simply answering the next obvious question. If a plane went down carrying 9 Microsoft VIP's, the article would have said "Bill Gates was not aboard" but not because the others' lives were less important - just because they knew it would be the next logical question.

Actually, the reason it was stated was because of Wall Street.

If Wall Street got news that Senior Execs at a company died in the plane crash, it could send the stock into a downward spiral as investors freak-out wondering how it will effect the profitability of the company when key decision makers are gone.

All in the name of the almighty dollar...

There were no games, software, music, movies, or anything at the Lufkin, TX store when I went. Just TVs, DVD players, computers, speakers, cameras .. expensive stuff. The deals were noteworthy but there are better values elsewhere.
