City of Heroes Used?

I'm thinking about hopping on the City of Heroes bandwagon, which is waning, I'd think, at least based on all the bitchy reviews at Amazon. However, I don't have godlike characters yet, and I doubt I'd play more than 2 months anyway.

So, here are some questions that my searching could not find.

I'm seeing some people selling their copy used. So, does this mean I inherit their account? I know I have to pay, but ususally you get the first month free. The difference in price is about $15 for used or new, which is what it costs per month, so, if I don't get my first month free used, there's no benifit to getting it used.

Also, I'm wondering if my new Dell B110's native video card can handle it. It's an Intel something something 950.

And, wasn't there a demo? I'd really like to see if this chunks on my system, which i'm not upgrading any time soon (putting in cabinets which are eating me alive).

Any help, suggestions, I'm really jonesin' for finally playing this as now I have a 2.6 machine rather than my lowly 800 mhz slug.

you might want to check out there free 15 day demo disc called COH bootlegged edition. its basically the same game except the account expires in 15 days. I might have a spare disc or 2 around with the codes for it if you want them.

I did buy the full version later, paid for a 3 month account since I had so much fun for the first month..unfortuntily I became so busy that I played less and less until I decided to cancel my account before the renewal. Its a great game but I just dont have time for it. Went back to SWG for 15 days, everyone I knew is gone and the game has gone to hell..so im not coming back to that 2 years of wasted time I invested in.

That sounds great, and I did PM you.

Yeah, I've been reading that lots of people think the game is crap. But that's compared to how it was at the beginning. I've also come in on Neopets when people thought it sucked (I think I was there in the last days of the Hypno Helmet) and, when you don't know how glorious it used to be, it's still fun.

Even if I'm just making a cool character and then bumming around in an empty world, I think the character creation would be fun anyway.

Also, I'm playing Killzone online, and if you read about that, everyone bitches about the glitchers there. I agree the glitchers are horrible, but it's still fun. And you can get killzone for around $15 now. And it's a great online game. (Burnout 3, on the other hand, has lost absolutely all online support from EA, just in time for it to sell more than ever due to being a $20 game new.)

Also, the demos will let me know if I need to buy a graphics card, or, realistically, abandon my lil dreams of PC gameyness.

CoH / CoV is, by no means, an "empty world". Lots of people still play, no worries there, it just dosen't get the amount of exposure that WoW gets.
 
I bought one of the Bootleg edition disks off ebay. I'm hoping they'll still honor them, because the gal at Gamespot (or stop, I get those confused) said that they had received a recall on them a few months ago. She said that she had gotten a ten day trial herself from fileplanet, but I checked and there were just previews and a full price just-download-it commercial version. Heck, if I'm paying full price, I want a box and pretty pictures.
